Carlton Davis Beaten Twice, Gets Ball Thrown At Him (Videos)

July 29th, 2019

Punisher

Mike Evans kept grinding and grinding at practice yesterday under the swelter at One Buc Palace.

And second-year cornerback Carlton Davis felt it in more ways than one.

Davis had his hands full with Evans and Joe has two videos below to illustrate.

These come from late in practice. First, Evans shakes Davis in press coverage and gives the signal for the deep shot that doesn’t come.

Then Evans sort of lulls Davis to sleep a bit before separating and adjusting late for a huge gain in down-and-distance work. Evans makes the catch and throws the ball at Davis — and hits him. Humiliation!

Soon after that last catch, Evans was on the ground in a bit of pain getting worked on by trainers. Joe has video of that, but it just looks like he’s getting stretched out for a cramp.

Another day at the office for No. 13.

For players like Mike Evans training camp scares the crap out of me….save him until regular season other than running routes and catching balls

  2. Wright Says:

Mike is savage, he threw the ball at Davis after that catch. This is good for Davis, can’t wait to see how much he improves this year over last.

  3. K2 Says:

That’s a penalty in a game. Practice like you want to play. Dumb mistakes in practice…dumb mistakes in a game.

  4. Go Bucs 72 Says:

13 is the best Offensive player in Bucs history. He will get the gold jacket.

  5. Jean Lafitte Says:

I would give a couple yards cushion on Evans if I were Davis, especially since Winston’s long release gives corners time to make up ground if he try’s to throw underneath. The second video could have been called offensive pass interference with Evans pushing off to catch the ball. I think this one of the issues VH3 had with the officials.

  6. NOSBOS Says:

    😉so that’s who it was..

  7. Bird Says:

    Go Bucs 72

He is still young in his career but I can’t disagree at this point. We haven’t really been a juggernaut on anything offense in the past.

He will break every record as a Buc if he can stay healthy (reverse jinx )
He is one of 2 receivers in nfl history with consecutive 1,000 seasons to start career. Randy moss the other.
    He is a savage.

He caught 12 tds his rookie year with mccown and glennon throwing to him.

  8. BucAllNight Says:

That’s RIGHT Mike toughen our youngins Up… THIS is exactly what our young DB’s NEED…. glad to see Mike school’in them and talking smack the right way thru actions. Trust as a former DB I feel CD3’s pain but I know its gonna get him prepped for Julio and Mike Thomas twice each.

    11-5 (I told yall already)
    * Btw Notice Kevin Minter who has played on his fair share of Good Defenses is predicting us to be a “TOP 5 DEFENSE” this year see pewter report

    but wtfdik #RealRecognizeReal

    Go Bucs!!

  9. Diesel Says:

He actually is 1 of 3 Bird, AJ Green being the other. All 3 have 1k yds in the first 5yrs of their career.

  10. Bird Says:

    Diesel

    Whoops. Yah you are right.
Mike can pass him this year as AJ green missed out in year 6

  11. #1bucsfan Says:

    Go Bucs #endthedrought

  12. D-Rome Says:

First, Evans shakes Davis in press coverage and gives the signal for the deep shot that doesn’t come.

Ball would have likely been overthrown by 5 yards.

  13. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

I’m not sure if any of our other CB can do any better against Evan. In an one and one, he’s going to win 75% of the time.

  14. Brandon Says:

Steel sharpens steel. No shame in going up against the best and getting beat. Its the fastest way to get better.

Whomever said that Davis needs to give a cushion needs to STFU. Play his game. His physical press game. Go root for Mike Smith in retirement with that soft garbage.

  15. Pickgrin Says:

A pretty obvious push off by Evans right at the end of the 2nd clip.

With his “history” of pushing off and getting called for offensive PI – that is NOT how I want to see ME “practicing”.

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The only way to stop Evans is to overdose him with sleeping pills, tamper with his alarm, pull plug wires on his vehicle and have the Tampa police department stop and detain him until the game is over…..

  17. Stu Says:

ME, what a dic- move throwing a ball at a teammate…

  18. tmaxcon Says:

Hopefully evans and winston can escape the blackhole that is Tampa bay Buccaneers football some day so they can taste success. Its bad for the nfl that two super stars are stuck in such a small market irrelevant franchise

  19. Bob in Valrico Says:

I watched Godwin catch a pass and two defenders touched him and let him go.
I don’t believe Davis is supposed to be trying to tackle Evans.

  20. Jnightbreeze Says:

They don’t get in trouble for the push off unless they fully extend their arm which Evans did not. That alone is a huge change in his game. He used to always fully extend his arm.

  21. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

who was qb when evans wide open?

  22. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

I love that kind of nasty

Hope Mike is smarter in games though

  23. JimmyJack Says:

Really good look for Mike E on them clips. Especially on that play with the catch! That was basic art right there. You just can’t contaib that guy. A true great in the league.

    GO BUCS!!!

  24. Slugglife Says:

Second play was a push off. I love ME but he gets that flag the majority of the time.

  25. SOEbuc Says:

Bucs may finally have a good defensive backfield again but only after the NFL has wiped out good, tight coverage rules.

  26. Bob in Valrico Says:

IMO, Davis is bit grabby and may get caught trying to grab or impede a receivers arm as they try to go for the ball. He is kind of sneaky how he does
it. He wasn’t making a play on the ball in the second video.

  27. T REX Says:

Evans with another push off. Nice job then throw the ball at your teammate right after you committed a penalty.

  28. Chris Cotten Says:

Got my tickets for SF, taking my youngest Ute, section 109, row X, seats 11,12, would love to hook up pre game with some of y’all, flying out that morning from NC, checking in our room and heading to RayJay

  29. gotbbucs Says:

Mike Evans is also a bonafide HOF caliber reciever and Davis is a 2nd year corner. Evans normally sees bracket coverage on almost every snap in real games for a reason. If it’s an accurate pass he is borderline impossible to cover one on one.

  30. unbelievable Says:

My god some of you will complain about anything.
