“We’ll Be Fine”

June 17th, 2019

Not worried.

Yeah, the Bucs lost the hero of the joystick jockeys, malcontent wide receiver DeSean Jackson, and much more reliable Adam Humphries this offseason.

The former is an example of addition by subtraction but the latter Joe strongly believes will be dearly missed in the passing game.

However, there is no reason to sing the blues to America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. While Winston admits the Bucs, on paper, took a hit with the offseason attrition, Jameis believes the Bucs still have a very strong wide receiver corps.

Speaking recently on Adam Schefter’s podcast, Jameis told the BSPN uber NFL insider there is no reason to cry for him.

Adam Schefter: This year, when you try to win, how will you try to replace guys like DeSean Jackson and Adam Humphries at the wide receiver position?

Jameis Winston: I think we have some good young guys to come in. Scotty Miller, coming in from Bowling Green, he being kind of like that Adam Humphries-type of a guy. [Miller has] great quickness and great speed. With DeSean Jackson, man, it is tough to find a guy like DeSean Jackson anywhere on any team. But I think Breshad Perriman has come in and done a great job of taking the top off the defense. And we’ve been connecting very well. So, you know, obviously, when you have No. 13 Mike Evans, we’ll be fine. We’ll be fine. In addition, Chris Godwin is stepping it up. He is going to be excited to have his wide receiver-1 role on the opposite side of Mike. We have a lot of weapons and I didn’t even mention O.J. Howard and Cam Brate. Cam is going to have his first healthy season in, shoot, two years, since he has come into a season fully healthy.

As for his comments about Jackson, Joe gives Jameis mad props for taking the high road. Big time! If Jameis wanted to, he could totally bury Jackson.

While Joe is of the mind Humphries, a favorite target of Jameis, will be missed, it is interesting that Jameis immediately brought up Scotty Miller’s name. Is this a way for Jameis to try to boost Miller’s confidence or is Miller really making that much of an impact in underwear football?

Guess we will find out when the pads come on in a little more than a month.

Yeah, especially since he did not mention Justin Watson’s name… Interesting!

  2. SteelStudBuc Says:

Was Cam Brate even on the injury report last year? Did the medical team get replaced or are they the same?

  3. Maze Says:

Scotty Miller the steal of the draft

Was not that what jw3 was doing on the field with his inaccuracies???? Funny how jw3 wrecked the season and was ruining careers of others, but gets a huge pass by the sheep and local media!!!!!!!!! Can’t wait for the Bucs to look for and draft a “real” QB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its a shame that the Bucs have wasted all the weapons for the folding like a lawn chair they call a QB!!!!!!!! By Oct, everyone will be discussing Qb’s in the draft!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Dapostman Says:

Adam Humphries was a good player but he’s easily replaceable. What do you expect from him when he’s the 4th option? His ceiling is limited. MeSean won’t be missed at all. He’ll get his 2 long TD’s this year with the Eagles and the fan boys will go off see he still has it. His 3.8 catches per game are easily replaceable. Bucs will be fine without those two. Bank on it!

  6. NOSBOS Says:

A lost of ME and ME only would be cause for tears. You know the guy that falls out of bed every year and has a 1000 yard season. ME is what opponents gameplan for not Rudy. Interesting tho I did some research on Mike Vick while in atl contrast to his time with Andy Reid in philly (Andy being what you can call a QB whisperer also) Vick’s passers numbers were better under Andy Reid. Maybe he had matured as a player or maybe having a HC that knows how to actually teach the position helped his game. I lean towards the latter. Mahones is a great talent no doubt, but think for a second that being groomed under a HC that knows how to teach the position on the pro level didn’t play a part in his MVP season’s success. I expect similar success between the BA and Jameis dynamic why? BA has a history of raising QB play and Jameis is never questioned about his talent. Week 1 approaches.

Who’s career was ruined exactly? Your boy Mike Smith….? Dude you are a complete joke in every sense of the word!

  8. Hodad Says:

Name one game winning TD DJax, and Hump made last year? We were 5-11 the past two years with both players on board, now people want to make it seem we’ll be worse without them. I highly doubt it. Both players would’ve cost us big money this year we don’t have. Only low standard Buc fan will miss this mythical dynamic duel.

  9. Pickgrin Says:

Miller is quite a bit faster than Humphries.

What will be hard to replace though is the toughness. Hump has a way of getting open when you need him to be – and almost always made the catches that came his way. Even when hammered over the middle he’d find a way to hang on to the ball.

  10. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Bucs gotta replace almost 1600 yards and 10 TDs from Djax and Hump with a former 1st round bust and a rookie from the football powerhouse of Bowling Green?

Come on JW we know you aren’t honest with your teammates and coaches at least be honest with yourself

  11. Joe Says:

Even when hammered over the middle he’d find a way to hang on to the ball.

And that may be the difference. Humphries is rocked up. The dude is built and chiseled.

Miller is a tiny guy. Looks like an Applebee’s assistant manager. Whenever you see him, you just want to place an order for a plate of quesadillas.

  12. El Buco Realisto Says:

    @Ndog

Its nice to hear that according to you, all problems are fixed!!!! That now there will be no excuses and no holding all this crazy talent back!!!!!!!! But you are about to learn some hard truths my friend!!!!! so go ahead and defend the garbage, and then wonder in bewildered state as to what happened this year!!!!! I think now, we now know what the “n” stands for dog!!!!!!! But if you pay attention, we will teach you how to “heel”!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Intern Zach says: “Mr Realist,”

The Buc Realist says: Yes Intern “Zach.”

Intern Zach says: ” Do sheep cry”????

The Buc Realist says: ” They do in Tampa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

  13. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

What’s the common thread to the awful results over the last four years? Yep, you guessed it.

  14. El Buco Realisto Says:

“Even when hammered over the middle he’d find a way to hang on to the ball.”

Would it not be easier to just find a “real” franchise QB that would hit the target in stride and on time so they would be able to get yac???????? Hard to believe that the sheep and local media want to pay top qb money for this guy and then in the same breath say he needs a top running game and defense so the team can hide him??????

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Defense Rules Says:

“You just want to place an order for a plate of quesadillas”? Now that’s cruel Joe. Let’s see how he performs on the field come September before we demote him to Applebee’s assistant assistant manager. Since Gerald McCoy is now a Stinkin Panther, why not pick on him instead for dishing out soft serve at Dairy Queen?

  16. Cgmaster27 Says:

Elbucco, that’s what the clowns like you dont get. Us that see Jameis needing help arent saying we need a top running game and defense. How about an AVERAGE running game and defense?! If this defense gives up 7 less points a game last year, we win 6 more games. And our running game was almost dead last. You trolls need to find whatever tool you need to get your heads out of your asses. Your constant drivel of hitting guys in stride is old and tired by this point.

  17. Cgmaster27 Says:

Morgues, what is the common thread? The 30th ranked defense on average the last 4 years? The 28th ranked rushing attack? A putrid offensive line? Please do tell.

  18. Prada...sec 147 Says:

Scotty !! Hope he can catch when the pads come on 😉

  21. Ra'Shad Says:

My Qb !!! J. Winston made sure to say that he and Perriman has been connecting very well.

  22. Allbuccedup Says:

Scotty 175 lbs, Hope he can take the hits.

  23. Buc4evr Says:

Our receivers and TE’s will be fine. O-line not so much….

  24. J Says:

DeSean Jackson is 5’10 175lbs. and Miller is 5’11 174lbs. Applebees staff looks pretty dope!

  25. Oneilbucs Says:

I’m ready for Jamies to play for another team now. This fan base is hoping that Jamies to failed cause they just hate this kid. So I hope he plays well and then leave this trash fan base and go win some where else . He will win a championship while this team and fan base still hoping to make the playoffs. I’m tired of coming on this site and watching this fan base hope to see Jamies play bad than root for him and the team to win.
