DeSean Jackson Says It’s Over

March 11th, 2019

Bids farewell.

Technically, malcontent wide receiver DeSean Jackson is still a member of the Tampa Bay Bucs.

In reality, Jackson is gone. How and where to be determined.

Today on his Instagram account, Jackson said in so many words, Peace Out Tampa Bay.

So now, for all intents and purposes, the prediction by the Sage of Tampa Bay sports, the Custodian of Canton, the King of New Port Richey, internationally-acclaimed JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman has come true.

Kaufman, in his popular Ira Kaufman Podcast, stated the day Jackson came to town that Jackson would not see the third year of his Bucs contract.

And to think some people wonder why Joe employs Ira.

    Ira keeps me coming back.

  5. BucAllNight Says:

Peace Out DJax you are a misunderstood BALLER we just have too many weapons!! Stay healthy and keep striving toward Canton. These cats don’t know ish…..

  6. StoutGospel Says:

Hey @Joe…no one that I have seen/heard on JBF has questioned “why” you employ Ira. Never. Now, some on here (not myself in all objectivity–but some) have questioned why Ira in all his clout and accomplishments would want to be squelched at JBF….perhaps lol. But Ira has a great impact on JBF world headquarters.

Just speaking from my experience anyway, maybe others on JBF know different on this?

    Go Bucs! Land Quinnen!

  7. Lord Cornelius Says:

Good. Hopefully we can get a pick for him. Should have shopped him last year like every fan on here wanted when we could have gotten a 3rd probably.

There’s also a very good chance we get compensatory picks for Kwon & Humphries.

Based on 2018 signings and picks awarded, it’s possible that Kwon nets us a 3rd round pick (if he signs for the projected $12M) and Humphries a 4th (if $8-10M) for the 2020 draft

AB has shown the way out of town, DJax understands to push the team

  10. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

Jason Licht late as usual and now the bucs will get a 5-6th round pick or nothing when he is released because teams know he will be released so why trade for him….cannot wait to hear what djax has to say about the bucs in the coming months

  11. DooshLaRue Says:

    Good info Lord.
We need those picks to keep building a young and tough team.

  12. SCBucsFan Says:

Duthsty everyone knows this was over months ago. Being late didn’t change anything. This board was universally excited when he signed here, it didn’t work out. Can’t blame Licht for this one.

  13. Couch Fan Says:

About time! Cant get rid of this loser fast enough.

  14. zzbuc Says:

talented and narcissist….bye bye…..you can go with your speed and your ego somowhere else!!!! NOw we need to clean Gholdton;Allen,Unrein, and restucture GMC, and we should be fine…….ALways hoping GM learns from previous experiences and bring decent players from FA, something that he sistematicly failed with the JPP exception…….

    Like it! 🙂

  16. Not there yet Says:

That’s because he knows he’s about to get cut, no one is taking on 10 mil a year especially with him talking like this while under contract. Licht was stupid for not trading him last year, two amateurs running the show is the explanation for two back to back 5-11 seasons nothing more nothing less

  17. Big Marlon B Says:

Good riddance you gutless punk. I like Godwin’s quiet, humble approach much better than this guy constantly seeking attention.

  18. Rob Says:

Bucs probably won’t get anything for the diva. Everyone knows he isn’t coming back and any team that wants him can get him for less than what the Bucs would have paid him and not have to give up a draft pick. Use the 10 million on one of the many other needs this team has right now. Receiver is not one of them. Go Bucs! We don’t need his half a$$ attitude on this team anyway.

  19. Bruce Blahak Says:

    Ira knows Football! Enough said…

  20. Easy Says:

Kwon headed to SF. 4 years 54 million

  21. ncbucsfan Says:

We’ll get a 3rd or 4th rd comp pick next year out of it.

  22. AlteredEgo Says:

I forget the assistant coaches name…the one that admonished DJax….by reminding him “You Came Here for the MONEY ! ”
for that to come out in public in his first year…well we know the rest of the story…
Jason has been playing with house money and he’s lucky this ain’t Vegas…not to be a complete downer but Jameis still has to prove himself…I hope he and Jameis can pull their d**ks out of the fire….but as I say…There ain’t No Hope in Football !

  23. Aaron Says:

$27 million in rolling guarantees. He’ll make $13.5 million per year

I can’t even imagine what CJ Mosley will get

We’ll get a 3rd or 4th rd comp pick next year out of it.

Nope…..we will get no comp pick for Djax……why….because we either cut him or traded him……he would have to be a FA exiting the team without a corresponding pickup.

Fans have no idea what constitutes eligibility for a compensatory draft pick….it’s somewhat complicated…..

Joe, please do an article on this so fans will have a better understanding of it.

  27. Lord Cornelius Says:

Holy sh1t John Lynch has lost his f*cking mind lol.

Good news is we should get a 3rd round pick.

Wonder if this is the league saying “you had a good player but your coaches had no idea wtf they were doing”

or if it’s just a simple over-spend big-time in FA move that the 49ers will regret

All I know is he did miss a lot of tackles and seemed to be in the area of a lot of the short passes that destroyed us the last few years

  28. Humpty Dumpty Says:

Kwon just signed with the 49ers 54 million over 4 years! wow!

  29. JimmyJack Says:

I’d of took him back if he wanted to be here. He obvisously don’t.

He was a awful Buccaneer. Weapons for Winston was a joke of a campaign. Sounded cute coming from the fans never though we had a HC dumb enough to do it

  30. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Our only reasonable possibilities for Comp picks for 2020 are Grimes & Fitz…..because they became FAs and because of their higher salaries….
And those wern’t that high so we will probably only get later round picks for them.

Now…here is the kicker……that assumes we don’t pick up any FAs of equal value this year. So…probably no comps next year either.

We have a habit of bringing in high-priced FAs….and cutting them before their contract expires….usually because they don’t perform.

  31. JimmyJack Says:

    We got one LB, ouch

  32. JimmyJack Says:

Does DeSean get to pick which team we trade him to like Antinio Bryant?

  33. AKickInTheBucNuts Says:

    Buh-Bye.

  34. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    And….nope….no comp pick for Kwon.

He did become a FA that we lost but his low salary of $2mil will likely negate a comp pick. Same thing for Hump.

And we let Curry go mid contract……..so quit dreaming of comp picks.

  35. Joe Says:

I forget the assistant coaches name…the one that admonished DJax….by reminding him “You Came Here for the MONEY ! ”
for that to come out in public in his first year…well we know the rest of the story…

    Todd Monken.

  36. DBS Says:

Bucco Bruce is dumb too if you want to be reminded of those years. Mostly sad times in Bucs history.

  37. Jameis Almighty! Says:

Woo hoo! Bye bye MeJax. All that thought it was crazy to trade him at the deadline can suck a big fat hog! Worst Buc ever! Bye bye MeJax! And whoever buys his gear from goodwill should burn it! Terrible player and bad human being. Kick Rocks jagoff.

  38. Stu Says:

What a great day in Tampa Bay!

  39. sunshine Says:

hope Jackson lands with a team where he can show his skills.

  40. Jameis Almighty! Says:

MeJax is gone! Fire the cannons and play with your Korry Blanco somewhere else you piece of human garbage!

  41. Steven007 Says:

    @Joe
You guys are getting hammered on 620 about your John Lynch CTE tweet FYI…

  42. Jameis Almighty! Says:

@sunshine he is well skilled at pouting and quitting

    We got one LB, ouch

Actually, we have 4 under contract……..LVD, Bond, Beckwith & Cichy…

Now this gets down to what you and I were discussing yesterday…….

We have some players to sign….because you would be correct to say….At this point we only have 1 starting LB.

  44. Lord Cornelius Says:

“He did become a FA that we lost but his low salary of $2mil will likely negate a comp pick. Same thing for Hump.”

It’s based on his new deal.

For example – Ryan Jensen had an annual average salary with the Bucs of $10.5M – and that was the # used in calculating a 3rd round pick for them losing Ryan Jensen to FA and not signing anyone to an equivalent deal.

If we sign someone for $10-12M+ it would likely negate the comp pick from Kwon but we can’t afford a salary like that. We are best off just signing cheap vets so we can still net 2 mid rounders from Kwon + Humphries.

If Hump gets $8M+ it should net a 4th or 5th.

  45. Bucsfanman Says:

Lord C- I agree with you. We can replace both Hump’s and Kwon’s production easily IMO. We need to stock the shelves for the future too.

  46. ut Says:

    Lord Cornelius

You are correct……the comp pick is based on the new deal……so we could get a pick for Kwon & likely Hump…..
But if we sign a higher-priced player or two they would cancel out.

I guess the reason we don’t usually get comp picks is nobody pays our exiting FAs much. speaks volumes.

  47. Tom S. Says:

In a perfect world Ira would employ Joe and we could complain to him about why he keeps Joe around 😉

  48. Rod Munch Says:

Well if you’re dumping Jackson then you should try to keep Hump. If you lose Jackson and Hump then suddenly your WR depth chart is in a lot jeopardy.

In any case I was fine with Arians keeping Jackson if he thought he could tame him, but I’m fine with them moving on as well. I don’t understand how you don’t trade him however, there’s no way with the awful FA WR market that Jackson doesn’t have trade value.

  49. StoutGospel Says:

^^^^^@Tom…..LMAO!! THAT…sir…is the post of all posts for 2019!

    Well done sir!

    Go Bucs! Land Quinnen!

  50. '79Defense Says:

Looking at that photo of him I’m surprised any Bucs player feels they are paid enough to wear that circus uniform.

  51. Loyaltotheend Says:

I thought the Joes employed Ira so he’d pass the Hall of Fame voting privileges onto one of them when he retires…

  52. Whatinthebuchappend Says:

See ya you d bag ! Never liked him to begin with and we want guys that can produce without all the baggage..true bucs , and I’m not talking guys like McCoy ” that puke ” I’m talking about barber & Brooks & Lynch & Sapp and alstott !!! I think Mike Evans is a dog , i think Godwin and OJ Howard can also be..I liked hump but in no way shape or form should we keep him at the price he wants to be paid but this jerk right here reminds me of keyshawn but atleast key is a Superbowl winner for us..now we can cut or trade this fool and get a speed team guy , for 4 to 5 mil a year and have our coaches coach up our own guys in Watson , Bobo or others me way draft…so long story short this here is a year to late anyway..buh bye you skinny wanna be gangster puke
