Intrigue With DJax/Jameis Agent

January 31st, 2019

“Man, Jason, I sure can’t catch Jameis’ passes but I damn sure can pitch to him.”

Let the intrigue continue.

Yesterday in the explosive “Simms and Lefkoe Podcast,” Bucs malcontent wide receiver DeSean Jackson went public with his desire to play for the Rams.

We all know Jackson loathes America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. And that Jackson asked for a trade last season, in part because Jameis was reinstated as a starter (against Jackson’s nationally televised pleas).

In that same podcast, Jackson let it also slip that he is no longer represented by agent Joel Segal. Why is this interesting to Joe? Well, Segal also represents Jameis.

Could it be that when Jameis signed with Segal last year, Jameis said he would not hire him so long as he also represented Jackson? Or did Jackson fire Segal because he couldn’t coerce Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht to consummate a trade?

Or was this just a smart business ploy by Segal? Let’s think about this a minute.

If you are an NFL agent and you pull in three percent of your client’s salary (the maximum allowed by the NFLPA), and you had to pick between two players, which would you choose? A 25-year old franchise quarterback pulling in $21 million and likely more for years to come, or a 32-year old whiny wide receiver lifting $13 million, and likely much less in the coming weeks? 🤔

I’m really tired of the Djax drama……what is the soonest date we can get rid of him?

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I mean….the soonest date we can attempt a trade….I realize he could be cut today.

  3. Grt1 Says:

Trade him and our 5 pick to move up with the Jets

  4. RustyRhinos Says:

21mil and 13mil hmmm both sound over paid, good job Mr. Segal. 3% of 36 million is $1,020,000 just another year at the office. Nice. How many other NFL players does Mr. Segal represent? Any MLB, NBA, NHL PGA players?

  5. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

Sheez if Jamies pulls in $100,000,000.00 his agent gets $3,000,000.00. That’s a lot of money for not doing any hard work

#7423 May have chosen the wrong career path

  6. Sunny Says:

@joe u missed in the podcast , where DJax says he was a vet QB in this point of the career becuz he doesn’t want to go hard on Fridays and the young QB need every rep.

Maybe JW didn’t want to go soft on fridays , like Vick did for him and prob fitz did as well and this is where the problem between the two lay . We know DJax didn’t meet the other WR and JW in the first off season .

  7. TbT813 Says:

Trade him to the buffalo bills

  8. Buc4life24 Says:

Hope we package his diva a$$ to the Jets or Bills!!

  9. stpetebucsfan Says:

    @Joe

Since the guys here don’t seem to have an answer perhaps you can help me.

How is it even possible to trade DJAX. Other teams have to be aware that we’re going to cut him to save the ten million. He’s virtually a free agent. Just let him go.

Perhap a really complicated deal where we subsidize part of that ten million but we’d have to get a draft pick or player in return.

How many teams are really hot to pick up a ten million dollar 31 year old malcontent with mediocre hands and no desire to fight for the ball?

  10. Alanbucsfan Says:

    The Joe agenda continues-
    Get rid of DJax
Sign free agent/ draft running back

All before NFL draft, April 1st reporting date, free agent signings, or new coaches having chance to work with and evaluate roster. SMH How about a little more info on available trench talent and linebacker talent through draft or free agency? There’s no “agenda.” Joe writes about what interests Joe when it interests Joe. That’s just how it is here and always has been. Joe typically dives deeper into the free agent pool after the Super Bowl and then again when it becomes more clear who will be a free agent. –Joe

  11. Pa Privateer Says:

So tired of the DJax drama and can’t wait for the day when Joe doesn’t post something about him. It is Draft Season and we should be posting write-ups of potential draft picks.

  12. AlteredEgo Says:

THis is the WORST week in the NFL….filler stories…radio row bad interviews…I heard Ronnie Lott on Ron and Ian yesterday and he totally sucked up to the NFL on the bad call in the Saints game…he even called it a bam bam play too close to call and that officials did not have a clear view despite a ref standing directly in line with the oncoming pass….listening to sports beating “experts” go on and on…my SB tradition, unless the Bucs are playing, is not watch anything related to the SB and turn on the TV 5 minutes before kick off…the empty hype is sickening

  13. Yeogib Says:

You keep harping about DJax but sat and back blew Miko and Brent. This kind of soap opera speculation is a waste of a click. Do better. Stop reaching.

  14. Loose Stool Says:

There is a very good chance neither of them will be pulling in starter money in 2020.
Don’t forget this is Winston’s make it or break it season. If Arians can’t turn him around he will be done as an NFL starter.

  15. Blind Melon Says:

This is beginning to sound like a teenage girls high school drama. /interest.

  16. BucFan3 Says:

No reason to keep pumping the story and stroking D-Jax ego. Results yield attention so what’s there to talk about with this bum? Rookies coming in off the street show-out better. Get rid of him already!

  17. Jameis Almighty! Says:

Get MeJax the eff outta here already.

  18. BucsFIRE Says:

    DIVA.

    D = Desean
    I = Is
    V = Very
    A = Anti-“team”

  19. Go Bucs 72 Says:

MeSean Jackass, Gerald McCottoncandy, Ms Grimes and Miko all need to go away. We don’t need aged vets with loser attitudes. I’m so tired of these grown men whining like sniveling little toddlers.

  20. D-Rome Says:

Excellent points, Joe. Nice article as always.

  21. firethecannons Says:

Yeah, the DJax drama is old already, trade the diva to the Cardinals for that 6th round pick we lost with the Arians trade. DJax can help them with the rebuild.

  22. ben Says:

I guess when Djax signed with the bucs he was expecting a winning team and a more accurate qb

  23. Robert Says:

I didn’t know d jax loathes JW, crabman….He never said it.

splitting hairs to throw d jax under the bus.

and 3% cap on agent. Thats BS right there. To put up with these children????

easier ways to make money. nice job NFLPA, maybe thats why the agents aren’t advising/telling their clients the straight truth-(to man up, shut up and play) and just treating them like penny stocks.

  24. Jean Lafitte Says:

I’m going to resist being an @sshole by piling on and insulting Djax with hateful name calling, but seriously, if he can’t get on board and give us 100% then find away to get rid of him.

  25. cmurda Says:

Forget getting any value for D Jax. Just get rid of the cancer. I’ll give up a 6th round pick just to not have to read about this idiot’s comments. He wants to go to the Rams? Have you bothered to check out their receiving Corps Desean. You would be the 5th best receiver on the team. Good luck with that you whiny diva little biznitch

  26. tmaxcon Says:

Once again these comments represent bucfans tremendous fear of talent and personality…. bucfan deserves the nfc south basement and cancer93 the face of the basement years

  27. 813bucboi Says:

    djax is getting boring…..

i think its draft talk time….

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!!

  28. tmaxcon Says:

    cmurda

5th best lol once again ignorant low standard bucfan demonstrates pure stupid…. no wonder bucfan is as laughable as the team.

  29. tmaxcon Says:

Not a single defensive coordinator fears any wr on bucs roster outside of Evans and djax…. hump is a low talent low ceiling possession type that DOESN’T PUT FEAR ANYONE….

  30. Doctor_berto Says:

Please trade him to Bills, Jets or Dolphins!!

  31. Robert Says:

boy maxipad sure hates hump. He’s one of the only money players on the team. Brady would make him a pro bowler.

Mike Evans, you mean the over rated guy who flexes when he runs out just before the 1st down, ME the guy who drops the ball that hits him in the numbers to kill a drive or the ME who has partnered with JW, crabman to pad each others stats?

the team would be better off without ME or JW. Trade em both!

  32. tmaxcon Says:

dear mr licht and old man arians, please keep djax i enjoy watching the low standard choir boy patrol lose their minds… it’s hilarious..

  33. Armando Says:

Didn’t DJAX sell his Tampa home already? Whats the point? And for whatever reason I know of at least three occasions DJAX didn’t run thru a Jameis pass, he slowed up or rather he didn’t run fast his complete route, the ball was where is should be and for whatever reason DJAX chose not to to go get it

  34. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Well, this explains why DJax tried to make Jameis look bad during games.

  35. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

tmaxcon, thank you for the gift of your (absence) this season…even though we all know you were here on an alternate name and trying to hide it.

  36. Bucsfanman Says:

Everybody here KNOWS they’d be singing a different tune if the DJax connection was there. This is a symptom of losing, everything is magnified. If you watched the games, you know good and well that he was missed more than he loafed. That’s a fact.
We knew exactly what we were getting when we signed him, so don’t act surprised.
I tell you, this fanbase is confused. We don’t want GMC because he’s too nice BUT, we don’t want DJax either because he’s too diva. Choir boys or axe-murderers, that’s where we’re at! LOL!

  37. Howard Cosell Says:

    Tmax/McCoy == Joe/DJax

Lol got several chuckles out of the post.
For one thing the drama between the two
    players and for another Joes…..um….
    dislike for Jackson

  38. Eric Says:

Djax was nowhere to be found after the fits three games, no matter who threw him the ball.

I put the chances of Bruce keeping him at 0.

  39. Sunday_44 Says:

    Wants a vet QB?

    I don’t buy it.

Why go to LA with Goff then, because a vet he is not!!

  40. Mike Says:

you are just butthurt because every time you try and rewrite history or assume stupid crap I am right there to set the record straight… no matter how hard you try you will never ever be able to change history… dungy the clown and his underachieving choirboys failed…. thankfully Gruden was able to clean up dungy’s mess.

    TJaxcon

not bad… much more original and less played than maxipad.

  43. THETRUTH Says:

Joe this is you making up a story , pure speculation on your part. An agent doesn’t need to choose between players if they are doing what is being asked. of.
