Warren Sapp Miffed At Team Glazer For No Super Bowl Party

January 31st, 2019

Before Joe gets rolling here, Joe was told recently that current Buccaneers shake their heads and somewhat dread the occasional appearances of Warren Sapp at One Buc Palace.

Joe is not surprised. Brazen Sapp can wear on anyone. The last time Joe saw Sapp he was cruising around the tunnels of the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway on a Segway-like device and barking at strangers to get out of the way or risk getting run over. He was laughing, but he sure appeared serious.

Anyway, Sapp made the rounds in Atlanta yesterday on Radio Row and shared a bit of behind-the-scenes Bucs chatter.

Back in 2017, Sapp was annoyed. He wanted to party like it was 2002, as in join an official 15th-anniversary celebration of the Super Bowl season on Team Glazer’s dime.

He called the owners up, he told WZGC in Atlanta, and shared his frustration.

“Listen, we don’t celebrate it per se in Tampa, until the Glazers called us for the 10th. And we skipped 15 and I called them, I was a little pissed,” Sapp said. ‘I was like, yo, what happened to the 15th anniversary. Championships just don’t grow on trees around here.’ [We got] one. So let’s celebrate this one. Brett Favre has how many? One.”

Joe thought that was funny. Of course, nothing was stopping Sapp and the others who made millions on that team from hosting their own party/celebration. Yes, Joe realizes Sapp blew nearly all his NFL earnings. His bankruptcy filings were great reading.

Sapp also had another good nugget in that interview when sharing how he personally chewed out Chiefs goat Dee Ford for his offsides in the AFC Championship game last week. Sapp said he was only offsides twice in his NFL career.

I’ve had the Glazer’s back since day 1 through all the ups and downs and downs and downs….I am now calling for them to move on it life and sell the franchise to an owner that has a passion for winning….the G’Boyz are well intended but inept in all things football

  2. Buc50 Says:

With Sapp…it’s all about Sapp. He’s the last person who needs to be at a party. So glad he’s no longer on TV.

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Wow…..I love Sapp….but he can embarrass himself way too often…..the last thing Warren needs is to get sauced up and then hit his Atlanta hotel with a couple of hookers…..

  4. stpetebucsfan Says:

Agree with Buc50. This is a man who is not well educated and who possesses very limited critical thinking skills.

We all would be better served if he just went away and retired quietly. He was blessed to have a freaky body and he made the most of it. Good for him that’s a good thing.

But he’s not a smart man and his yakking becomes tedious in a hurry. Never understood why he was on TV. Do we not have enough arrogant dullards blabbing there already.

So Warren congratulations on hitting life’s lotto with that freaky body…admiration for keeping it in shape…after that you got nothing to offer.

SAPP is the girlfriend you had that celebrated your anniversary every month so you broke up with her. You didn’t get me anything for our 5 month anniversary?

  6. Hodad Says:

Sapp the Glazers did you a favor. Look at all the bail money you saved by not getting arrested for cheating a hooker out of her pay.

Outside of selmon, sapp is only buc that matters. he carried those underachieving has beens single handedly….

If you are going to call out ignorance you better include the least intelligent buc of all time on that list 55 or you are nothing more than a hypocrite jealous of sapps personality and talents…

  8. Buccernutter Says:

Oh here we go. Another thread of our awesome fans trashing one of our goats cuz they don’t like his personality or off the field behavior. Please tell us all how much better you guys are.

I idolize Sapp for what he did on the field as a buc. I don’t let anything he says today bother me. You guys should focus on your own imperfections.

    Worst fan base in sports.

    Well said, man, and AGREED.
I am quite sure more would agree with you than disagree, so have faith.
Do I love his off-field personality? No. But so the hell what?
I love #99 and always will.

  16. tmaxcon Says:

TV needs sapp… sapp forgot more about football than any of us…. st pete is an absolute fool for confusing sapps football inteligence with his love of working women. Choir boy patrol proving beyond a shadow of a doubt what clowns they are today….

  17. Bucs Nihilist Says:

Worst offsides penalty in Bucs history?
Steve White lined up in the neutral zone taking away 55’s record breaking interception for a TD in 2002. I guess being tied for the record is great but damn!

owning records is meaningless when you underachieved as much as Dungy the clowns 1-dimensional teams did… horrendous team with a great defense and an ignorant stubborn head coach.

  19. Bucsfanman Says:

Great player, HOF player! One of our best.
    Everything else is just noise.

  20. Whatinthebuchappend Says:

I would take 1 Sapp over 100 Geraldine McCoy’s any day of the week & twice on Sunday !

    Specifically your internet addictions…. Tmax

the internet is the least of my addiction problems you should trying living life versus judging others who earned the right to whatever the hell they please… raise your standards while you are at… you really like some crappy players.

lap dances and jameson for all!

  22. Not there yet Says:

I agree because getting to a super bowl is extremely hard no matter how easily you won it, and eve never been back so I think it would be smart to keep that memory alive unless it seems like meaningless spending to billionaires. We are the first in the nfc south and one of two teams that have it. You can beat when drew brees is done and the saints go back to sucking they will celebrate their championship

  23. Pugs&Bucs Says:

No appreciated that Super Bowl more than me… the guy who had an Orange Bucs Bicycle from Montgomery Wards when he was a kid; but, I don’t think you celebrate 15.

20 for sure. Even 25. But 15 is a little nondescript.

  24. Buc82 Says:

I love me some SAPP!! He’s fantastic! #GOBUCS

And apparently all things fútbol. LOL

  26. gman Says:

The current Bucs and the Glazers don’t like Sapp because he hold them all accountable….just like he did with his teammates….today’s players and this ownership is way too soft to handle it.

  27. Buccernutter Says:

    Tmax

LMAO so now your addiction problems are correlated to living life? Hahaha

Let’s not be a hypocrite. You spend all day judging people’s opinions of Gerald McCoy on the internet. With a few substances and internet porn I guess. Your other addictions.

Enjoy the rest of the day on here telling people good players actually suck. I would Trump you in real life little guy. GMC sucks is all you got.

  28. Bradentonbuc Says:

@Tmax maybe you should stick to trying to become the next grillionare and your own comment that football players have forgotten more then any of us know. Feel free to drink your own Kool-aide at any time.
    Thank you for your service

  29. ben Says:

Sapp was the best bucs player ever and never really got into trouble off the field in his playing days..

  30. Mike Evans Goat Says:

All these people trashing Sapp have lost it. If it wasn’t for Sapp this team would have never won a championship. If “Nice Guy” GMC (who you also trash for being to nice) had half the heart and dog mentality that Sapp had this defense could have changed some games.
    Worst fans in Sports

  31. B Says:

At least the ‘Gs’ still have their $$$$$.

  32. Mike Johnson Says:

I luv what Sapp brought to the Bucs..on the field. One of the best ever done it. But he can be a ..bit of a clown nowadays. OK Warren we know its all about you and your antics. But There are enough of you guys from that superbowl team who live in the TB area. You guys could easily sponsor your own get together. If you hadn’t blown all the millions you made…….I’ll stop there.

  33. Mike Johnson Says:

Lov what Sapp did for our Bucs. One of the best ever done it. However, he can
be annoying at times. And..had he not blown all those millions he made? He could put together a superbowl party of his own. So quite your wining there Warren.
Besides, when you party hard? You sometimes get caught up in. police.hotel sting operations with…ladies of the night!

  34. Mort Says:

Sapp is forever a legend and an icon. He defined a position to this day. Why sh!t on him for wanting to celebrate this franchises greatest ever accomplishment? It should be celebrated.

Also Joe – he said he lined up offsides twice in his career. Not that he jumped offsides. You’d have to fact check this either way, but don’t misstate the assertion.

Also if he wouldn’t mind coaching some D-line around here, that would be great. Bruce & Todd, get on that.

  35. BringBucsBack Says:

Didn’t his own teammates (Chidi) hate him too?…until it was time to play!

Wasn’t it Sapp who said that today’s players are too interested in “likes”? Didn’t Kwon & David insult Sapp when he called their defense garbage? I’m sure these millennials would have nooo problem playing with Sapp!;)

Sapp has given plenty of reasons to question his morale compass but, few (if any) contributed more to the Bucs’ on-field success!

  36. Pistol Pete Says:

As a long time fan I loved that he played so well for us. Without a doubt we would not have that ring without him.
As a human being, his behavior has been a colossal disappointment.

  37. Gruden4President Says:

Cheapest MF’er in the entire universe bitching at others about not spending money. How ironic

  38. stpetebucsfan Says:

“Outside of selmon, sapp is only buc that matters. he carried those underachieving has beens single handedly….”

Are you freaking kidding me? Derrick Brooks may disagree…John Lynch may disagree…Ronde Barber may disagree…I could go on but when you already have one HOFer
and two more possibilities and that doesn’t even include Simeon who is borderline HOF to say Sapp did anything single handedly
is just brain dead. Cmon man I expect more of you than that.

Again…I’ve always given Sapp his props as A FOOTBALL player the GOAT at his position. But you guys are in denial if you can’t see that as human being…not a football player…just a human being he’s an abysmal failure.

For those talking about all that Sapp did for the Bucs…how about what the Bucs and NFL did for Sapp. They made him a famous multimillionaire. Without the NFL Sapp would be just another dude walking the street.

I have a lot more respect for folks like tickdr who posts here and literally save people’s lives with his medical skills. That does impress me! I’ve had teachers who impressed me and as for football players…they are entertainment and nothing more…UNLESS like DB55 and others they have done a lot of good OFF the field. Warrick Dunn IMPRESSES the hll out of me for not forgetting where he came from and taking care of all those families by providing them with housing.

Football is a game….nothing more…unless you use the platform it gives you to make it more. Without football Sapp might be smoking weed and out on the street somewhere. He has not set an example that is impressive for anybody other than football fans. He was a GREAT football player.

  39. FatBoiBucsFan Says:

Man what a guy that Warren Sapp is

On one hand he’s responsible for our only trip to the super bowl so far…

[No idea what that means. — Joe]

    You thinking sex now?

  40. tmaxcon Says:

    stpetebucsfan

55 is nothing more than an average backup without sapp in front of him… 55 is just another mccoy talent but can’t win without a sapp….

  41. Rod Munch Says:

It’s always hilarious seeing how many cupcakes get triggered by Sapp talking trash. They really are the most humorless boring dullards on earth.

  42. View from 132 Says:

Clown. I sat through every home game of Fat 99’s career. Overrated blow hard that was good with the media.

That also means I watched 55 every week too. Readers discrediting Brooks clearly don’t know football or are blinded by anti-Christian hate. Or are from Oakland. Probably all of the above.

  43. ERIC Says:

Btw why would anyone call Derrick Brooks stupid. T-maxipad, Mr. Derrick Brooks placed 3rd in his high school class, was named National Dial Scholar Athlete of the Year, had the grades to go to any college but chose to stay close to home in Tallahassee. Warren Sapp has stated on more than one occasion that Derrick Brooks is the best Buccaneer player of all time. Being objective, Gil Brandt ot both of them at #5 for their positions all time. While, many of your opinions (not all by any means) actually have some merit this supposed factoid from your repertoire makes you look a bit more like a moron than some of your other rubbish options you try to spew as fact
