Michael Bennett Traded To The Eagles

March 7th, 2018

Where was GM Jason Licht?

UPDATED: 2:49 p.m. — Pass the vodka.

Man, it’s going to be a long night at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters.

Sage columnist Ira Kaufman often says that quality pass rushers rarely hit the market and needy teams need to pounce when they do.

Well, on the heels of stud 27-year-old DE Robert Quinn getting traded to the Dolphins for a fourth-round pick this weekend, a new ESPN report today says versatile pass rusher Michael Bennett was just traded to the Eagles from Seattle for a fifth-rounder and receiver Marcus Johnson. Philly also will get a seventh-round pick from Seattle.

NJ.com writes: “Financially the Eagles will be taking on the remaining three years of [Bennett’s] contract, which holds a $6.6 million hit in 2018. It is very possible the two sides will workout a new deal.”

Yeah, that’s the same Pro Bowler Bennett the Bucs let walk out of their building after the 2012 season for no good reason.

Funny how the world champs thought he could add to their already dangerous pass rush and not hurt team chemistry. But the Bucs’ league-worst pass rush? It’s status woe — for now.

It will be very interesting to see what general manager Jason Licht’s plan is to improve the Bucs’ woeful pass rush. Yes, Joe is certain there is a plan, though both Bennett and/or Quinn would have been upgrades and instant game changers for the Bucs — and they had the cap room and picks to trade for both.

**Just like with Quinn, an ESPN report says the Bucs were in talks about a Bennett trade. … More vodka, please. (See Tweet below.)

SA-QUON, SA-QUON! Draft capital still intact, aww yeah.

    Go Bucs!

  2. Ed Kerber Says:

    0-16!

  3. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

    “So Close”

Seems the bucs would rather use 4th and 5th round picks on flyers and hope they develop, over taking aging DEs.

I get the logic, but not for a team that believes its “so close”.

Even more mindnumbing when this team is in Win-Now mode or Koetter and Licht get the boot

  4. Bucballbaby84 Says:

I’m pissed! No Michael Bennett either! Wtf is this team trying to do! If you wanna win you fix your wholes on your team. I’m really starting to doubt desires of this franchise.

  5. tmaxcon Says:

anyone that thinks for one minute that the glazers are actually trying to filed a competitive team are absolutely out of their minds…. there is zero hope for the nfl’s worst franchise of all time.

  6. Pepsi Says:

“status woe” – good one. very accurate

  7. Bucssuccs Says:

Hey, at least we all know Jason Licht’s job is over at the end of the season

  8. zwh99 Says:

    Honestly i don’t really care if bennett isn’t a buc. He’s 32…

  9. Marc Says:

    JOE,

I think an emergency podcast is in order. 🚨 NO PASS RUSH FOR 2018 🚨

  10. K_Bassuka Says:

Don’t expect Litch to make this team better anymore. Man the Bucs front office sucks.

  11. DB55 Says:

    Tmax

Luxury suites and Cuban sandwiches that’s all they care about.

  12. Steve Munoz Says:

Pass the vodka this way Joe!

  13. Chris Says:

Must be because they didn’t want to trade to an NFC team….urrr….well…wake up Licht from his stupor…the good teams are getting better.

  14. tmaxcon Says:

    DB55

don’t forget the NFL TV checks to support Man U soccer…

    this franchise is beyond laughable.

  15. Horse Liver Says:

    Wow. A 5th rounder.

Sherman should be gettable for less — get him, meanwhile, at least go get a CFL scrub or something. Geez.

  16. Joe Blahak Says:

I guess the soft ice cream man will be spewing his baloney on twitter soon…let me start it here: SHUT YOUR YAP and find another team!

  17. Wausa Says:

Thank God we didn’t get him. He is a cancer within the locker room.

  18. Chris Says:

Zw, he’s 32 with more sacks than all of our D ends combined

  19. Joe Blahak Says:

and cheerio! to Bennett going elsewhere!…all this talk of bringing back players that were shown the door long ago is ridiculous…

  20. Dewey Selmon Says:

No one knows if the Bucs tried to work a deal. people were screaming that we didn’t go after Quinn, then the next day it came out that we didn’t offer enough. Then people screamed we didn’t offer enough. Wait until Sherman signs with a contender, people will scream some more.

  21. Chris Says:

Ha ha ha ha Betterbuc….you really think us holding on to our 4th and 5th round picks will get us Barkley?

  22. BetterBuccinBelieveIt Says:

Licht could swap 6th round picks with Philly for DE Vinny Curry. A 6th rounder wouldn’t affect SA-QUON….SA-QUON.

    🙂

    Go Bucs!

  23. chargedcbh Says:

    Bill Belichick 2019

  24. Bucsfanman Says:

I like Cuban sandwiches! Maybe they’ll invite me to their suite.
I’ve got my fingers crossed that the punter from FSU is still on the board when we pick at #7!
    Go Bucs!!!

  25. Syl Says:

Just tear the defense up aside from the linebackers. Just rebuild the whole stinkin thing. If you are going to be bad then be bad with young players.

  26. Nick Says:

come on people, really? he is a CANCER, he is 32 ? do we really want to waste more money. The good news is they are not blowing money for the new GM and Coach that will be here mid season after the 0-4 start

  27. tmaxcon Says:

yeah god forbid bid the bucs sign anyone with a personality or talent the pansy arse buc fans will cry character problem yet they worship a soft career loser who disappears when it matters most. the choirboy experiment failed. bucs need talent… nice guys ALWAYS finish LAST…. talent wins games character is just BS for old people to cry about while justifying losing.

  28. Bucballbaby84 Says:

This team has had enough brotherly love in the locker room the last few years. Where has it gotten us??? I don’t give a crap about who is not good for a locker room blah blah blah. If he can play and can get almost half the amount of sacks as our whole team did in the same season then you darn right I want him on my team

  29. SCBucsFan Says:

I love reading posts on this site just looking for one positive post in a thread

  30. tnew Says:

As a knee jerk reaction, I’m upset. The only thing that I can figure is that Buckner has another plan, and the Bucs are going to run a heavy dose of 3-4 next season.

  31. DanBucsFan Says:

I lost all confidence in Licht. He will probably screw up at #7 and draft Davenport, a project player who will contribute 2- 4 sacks. Im definitely not renewing my season tickets this year. So hard to pull for this team, let alone cover this team. God bless the Joe’s, Ira, and anyone else forced to cover this team. Fire Licht and I will feel much better about our future.

  32. Trubuc Says:

Trade up for Chubb not the second coming of Reggie Bush/Christian McCafferey. Smh

  33. LovieBall Says:

    I hate Jason Licht

  34. Lord Cornelius Says:

I guess we’ll see how it all plays out. Glad he’s not a Falcon at least.

What I’d give for the Eagles D-line…

    Fletcher Cox
    Brandon Graham
    Timmy Jernigan
    Vinny Curry
    Chris Long
    Derek Barnett

    & now Bennet

I’m guessing this means Curry is for sure gone. Either way our D-line is a F8cking joke compared to theirs.

Licht better nail some of these late picks… Typically the 4th-7th isn’t great for us… other than Kwon

  35. tmaxcon Says:

    Nick

Clearly you are confused. Bennett is a talented winner with a ring… a cancer is soft quitter with a smile like cancer93

  36. Chris Says:

Agreed Tmax,,,,these fans would rathet have Bob….nice guy lb….horrible stats, but hell of a nice guy…outstanding in the locker room over a Lawrence Taylor.

  37. Broy34 Says:

Max how is a franchise with a ring and 10 years of runs the worst ever. A lot of teams don’t have a ring and some haven’t gotten close. So just stop. The glazers are billionaires and aren’t gonna run the organization it’s called delegation. If you think the glazers are the reason for the salary cap numbers you’re as clueless as you appear to be.

  38. tmaxcon Says:

    SCBucsFan

when you are the worst franchise in nfl history, have not won a meaningful game in 16 years or even played in a meaningful gam in 11 years there are ZERO positives… What makes reality so difficult for you to accept.

  39. DanBucsFan Says:

At this point why bother with any free agents, lets just keep going 5-11 or 6-10 keep or cap $ so we can re sign all our core players who bring that winning culture to the team

  40. Chris Says:

Hey SC….got news for you…this team, outside of a 5 yr strech….is worse than the Browns….you want positivity, go read JoePatriots Fan…..

  41. DB55 Says:

    Tmax

I’m beginning to think that “cancer” is just code for …… but wtfdik?!

Ps. Not talking about you, you know what I’m saying

  42. Chris Says:

Broy34, look at our all time winning percentage.

  43. tmaxcon Says:

    Broy34

Bucs have had 4 good years and 1 great year in 42. they own the leagues WORST winning percentage so yes the bucs are the worst franchise in nfl histroy.

10 years of what…. dungy’s / mackay’s 2 pathetic playoff wins in six years that is horrible not even mediocre. tens years of pretending and a measly 5 playoff wins is NOTHING to be proud of. raise your standards.

  44. 1Gr8Buc Says:

    Team is a joke.

Joe, It might be time you make a business decision and find another team to invest your time in. Fanbase is beyond fed up with the losing ways of the owners. It falls SQUARELY on those dipsh!ts. If you aren’t here to win SELL THE #@$#+#& TEAM!!!!

  45. Marc Says:

Common guys, everybody needs to take a chill pill!

The Bucs have a plan in place! My sources tell me that the Bucs are ready to make Winston the league’s highest-paid QB with a $70M/year contract. Yea he is still playing on his rookie deal, but never mind that. The Jason Licht and the Glazers believe in living the Bucs life!

    -Jubilent Bucs fan

  46. DB55 Says:

Hey people settle down, the Bucs just signed Dotson, Conte AND Josh Robinson. SB here we come 😏

  47. tmaxcon Says:

super bowl expired week 1 off 2003….. winning a Superbowl is not a lifetime free pass to suck arse….

bucs have never ever contended in their history just underachieving pretenders under dungy the clown and one year wonders under gruden. 6 playoff wins in franchise history is absolutely disgusting…

  48. 813bucboi Says:

funny how people are calling him a cancer but he represents the same thing as Malcolm Jenkins and chris long……

Bennett is a son of a NAVY man….you think he doesn’t have respect for the military or police…..GTFOH!!!!!

CONGRATS BENNETT!!!!!!…..enjoy chasing another ring with MJ and CL….love seeing players fight for something bigger than themselves…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!…..GO BUCS!!!!

  49. BetterBuccinBelieveIt Says:

    @Marc…

lmao…well done sir. Great sources too.

    Go Bucs!

  50. JD Says:

Its extremely frustrating seeing these pass rushers getting franchise tagged and traded, but maybe just maybe Licht is actually working on something for our pass rush including a huge trade or something. They know where they stand so with options going out the window fast they have to be working on a bigger trade cause we know we cant solve this defensive front in this draft alone.

  51. OneBucPerson Says:

I’m probably one of the only people pleased by this. Now we won’t have to waste a pick on a guy who is past his prime, a diva, overpaid, and only a marginal improvement over what we have.

  52. tmaxcon Says:

    Marc

glazers have a plan alright… they plan to blow smoke up fans arses on the way to the nfc south basement the buccaneer safe space.
    4-12 is optimistic

  53. 813bucboi Says:

    don’t worry……

@realist and @bonzai will give this staff a 2year pass for…..whatever excuse they come up with……lol

    #NOEXCUSES2018!!!!!…..GO BUCS!!!!!

  54. Horse Liver Says:

Don’t worry, tmax. There is a strong rumor that the Bucs will trade McCoy to the Raiders, for a 2018 second rounder, no less. What a steal! That Licht is some kind of magician working trades, don’t you think?

  55. BucThis Says:

This team is a joke…… I’m rooting for the 49ers this year because clearly this team has NO desire to win. Shoulda cleaned house….

  56. Shaun65 Says:

This is a serious kick in the gut. I am so tired of the complacency and mediocrity exhibited by this organization!

  57. unbelievable Says:

    Lol at this team sometimes.

Seems like Licht and Koetter are gonna pray that a bunch of rookies can play like seasoned pros next year, or else they’re both looking for jobs in 2019.

  58. Chris Says:

Including, finishing last 21 years out of 42, people should be rioting …not …chill out guys, ownership and the front office, coaches, etc have a plan. What? To save money to resign guys who are part of the losing culture here….if I were a coach, gm, owner, none of these guys would be safe after watching the half ass, no hearted effort of last year.

  59. tmaxcon Says:

    Horse Liver

mccoy is not going anywhere… licht and glazers wills screw that up too just like everything else they try.

  60. Bucsfanman Says:

Interesting take DB55. I see where you’re going with that.

  61. Drew aka q Says:

Get jason licht the hell out of tampa… he cant even trade 4 quarters for a dollar bill

  62. Chris Says:

OneBuc, marginal????? What team did you watch? 8.5 sacks is 1/3 of what our entire defense had.

  63. tmaxcon Says:

    DB55

i hear you loud and clear man…

some buc fans have taken optimism to the level of mental retardation…. there is nothing positive nor any hope… that is reality.

  64. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Well, this is the teams doing the negotiations. Can’t even blame the players in this instance.

Truth to tell, I’ve got so much happening right now, I don’t even care. No point in getting stressed without knowing the full picture, and we won’t get that until after training camp. Can’t even guess at it until after the draft and free agency.

Anyone freaking out now is doing it for no good reason.

  65. tmaxcon Says:

    Joe

How can Eagles afford Bennett the Salary Cap is a teams biggest concern after all….

  66. tmaxcon Says:

    Bonzi

anyone with an optimistic outlooks is doing it for no good reason.

  67. adam from ny Says:

licht is the trump of the buccaneers

  68. TBTeddy Says:

If you haven’t bought season tickets already put a hold on that. If bucs fans keep supporting this nonsense they’ll keep doing business as usual. How dare they raise ticket prices and lower expectations. Anybody defending Licht is delusional, the draft will not save this defense. The fact that we’ve been in talks with these teams and fail is an indictment on Jason Licht. This fool needs to be gone already. 4th and 5th round picks are worthless most of those guys end up on the practice squad.

  69. Dewey Selmon Says:

we have talent, we have a nucleus, but this is a lame duck year. change staffs again next year. We were a Gruden decision from having a new coach. i think Licht and Dirk are feeling the heat. it will take a truly magical season….

  70. Marc Says:

    TMAX

The Glazers aren’t blowing smoke up anyone’s arse. You see, the Glazers are a family of football minds. They have masterfully crafted a plan that he’s been in the making since parting was with Gruden and #55. To the simple fan, it merely looks like a series of failures, but that is an orchestrated illusion. Just rest assured that the Bucs are on the verge of becoming g a powerhouse franchise…. why else would they RAISE ticket prices for the upcoming season. It’s like I always tell my pals, FOLLOW THE MONEY!

    -Jubilent Bucs fan

  71. TrollSlayer Says:

    tmax

why do you even follow the bucs? if they disgust you so much and you have so much hatred for the organization why continue to follow them?? there are other florida teams to root for unless you are not living in or from florida which to me would make you even more of a head case troll loser do something constructive with your internet time rather than spew your troll vomit all over JBF and im also tired of hearing about how much you hate GMAC which usually when someone pines that much over someone they are usually in love with them which if true i believe GMAC is married and heterosexual

im so over all the haters in our fan base if you dont like them find another damn team to root for!!!!!!!

  72. Rod Munch Says:

Good, I don’t want him or his 7 sacks in this town – he’s garbage and cancer in the community. Missing out on Quinn was a big deal, but Bennett – never wanted him back.

  73. Rik Says:

its funny how it works. We are complaining why we didnt get him and eagles fans are complaining why did they trade for him.

i am not saying its a good thing we didnt trade for him because we should have done that, but its just funny.

  74. tmaxcon Says:

    Marc

man dude, I am going to do a shot for you right now either in appreciation for your creative sacraism or for the hope you seek immediately medical attention for using glazers and football minds in same sentence.

  75. bucfan999 Says:

Thank God, Thank God……The aging, flag kneeling, cop baiting Bennett is finally with another team and it’s not the BUCS!!!!!!!! Now we can focus on fixing the DL with young up and coming players instead of aging retreads

  76. DB55 Says:

Ooooooh he slated you Tmax 🤣😂😭🤷🏽‍♂️🤦‍♂️🙅🏽‍♂️

  77. tmaxcon Says:

    TrollSlayer

go back to your safe space and play with your mccoy doll reality is clearly entirely too difficult for you to deal with.

  78. Marc Says:

    TMAX

    Cheers! 😄

  79. Eric Says:

The no NFC trade excuse is inapplicable here.

  80. Horse Liver Says:

tmaxcon — you think a 2nd rounder is too much for McCoy? What do you think is a fair value for him? Maybe they should just cut him and start over?

  81. TrollSlayer Says:

    tmax

i didnt know they made mccoy dolls but obviously you do

  82. tmaxcon Says:

    Horse Liver

he’s worht a 5th or 6th based on age and previous trades of players in his category… a second would be HIGHWAY robbery by Licht. She will not be a raider. we are stuck with cancer93 and the losing culture that he leads.

  83. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Absolutely abysmal showing from our Gm in everything non draft related once again. Not coming away with either Bennett or Quinn when we desperately needed both, is down right criminal.

It truly sucks that a guy like Licht, who is truly an excellent scout/ evaluator of young talent that does pretty darn well in the draft, is so absolutely lost in this part of the offseason.

I’m convinced we should keep Licht as GM/ Head of the scouting department and bring in someone above him who actually knows how to build a team and make the deals that need to be made.

  84. Eric Says:

I Recall we destroyed the eagles at their place with Lovie.

Since then they have passed us like a runaway train. They have done everything right, we have done everything wrong.

    Sad.

  85. JimmyJack Says:

Lol these threads with the fan base freaking out are entertaining. This team aren’t going to sit back and trot out the same useless line again.

They will make a move and then we can judge it all we want. There have been maybe three or four significant player move across the entire league and Tampa Bay fans are absolutely hysterical. Some of y’all got issues.

  86. SCBucsFan Says:

I don’t understand why some of you are unhappy. From your posts you live to be unhappy. This should be a banner day for you.

  87. Eric Says:

BTW are we allowed to play guys we almost got in trades or free agency?

  88. tmaxcon Says:

the only people with an issues are those who think this team will ever be relevant and not a national joke.

  89. JimmyJack Says:

You guy act like Quin and Bennett are the only passrushers that can get to the QB on planet Eart hahahahaha. Free agency hasn’t even started nor have all the player cuts or the second wave of cuts or the draft. GMs in the league have a pretty good idea who will get cut. If Bennett was the only hope Licht probably would have overpaid.

You guys were supposted to learn patience as children hahaha. What a riot.

  90. Rod Munch Says:

I’d ask if tmaxcon was on his period again, but that’s nonsense since he’s always like this.

  91. Bucsfanman Says:

tmax- Gerald requested a “no-trade” clause so that he could play in front of his best friend tmaxcon for the rest of his career. True story.

  92. tmaxcon Says:

    JimmyJack

it’s been 16 years people have been more than patient with this cluster f**k of a franchise.

  93. tmaxcon Says:

    Rod Munch

I am trapped in reality sir!!!!

  94. JimmyJack Says:

Leave tmax be. Let him do his thing.

Remember he is Tampa Bays punching bag.

If you are in a foul mood you can take it out on him and his senseless opinions. Today is a good day for me so I can do the usual(scroll right past his irrevelant posts).

  95. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

big no on sherman, he was slidingand he blew out his akillhees, good to see the eagles not staying pat on superbowl

  96. TrollSlayer Says:

if i were an admin on this site the only cancers i would be looking to get rid of was cancers like tmaxcon…. from now on i will only refer to you as tmaxcancer you are a bigger sore to this organization than GMAC

  97. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – Bennett is trash, but Quinn is a 27 year old who has a proven record of success, missing out on him is really unforgivable. As for FA, there isn’t anyone out there and there isn’t any big name that is going to hit the market. There’s basically no one in salary cap trouble since the cap keeps going up so teams will mostly keep key players like DEs. The best chance to do anything would be Peppers if he even wants to leave Carolina, which I’m not sure of.

  98. DB55 Says:

    Jimmyjack

You rather sign a DE that was cut rather than trade your 5th round pick for pro-bowl DEs? I see….lmao….SB here we come!

  99. tmaxcon Says:

    TrollSlayer

thank you for the kind words and free rent in your head.

  100. Bucsfan1988 Says:

Got some thoughts on the after-math of these trades.
I agree w Joe they Miami might let Cameron awake loose after getting Quinn. We need to JUMP on him!! Even at 36, the guys had over 10 sacks the last 2 years. STOP GAP #1

Eagles acquire Bennett, so perhaps they now let Curry loose. We need to JUMP ON HIM!! STOP GAP#2

Now we draft a couple of DE’s then we are set there.

As far as McCoy goes, please trade him for 2nd rounder & at least a 5th as well. Would like a 4th as well personally. Perhaps someone would throw us a low 1st rounder instead of 2nd. Bottom line is his value is DECREASING so let’s get something for him now why we still can.

  101. Bucsfan1988 Says:

OMG that’s supposed to say Cameron Wake…

  102. TrollSlayer Says:

    tmaxcancer

you make about as much sense as a poopy flavored lollipop

  103. BUCKMAN Says:

THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE SAME CRAP AS LAST YEAR , LOOK FOR THE BUC’S TO BE IN THE TANK AS THEY WHERE A YEAR AGO , BUC’S 2018 === 6 WINS 10 LOST… NO CHANGE SAME OLD SAME OLD BUC’S , …….

  104. Greecosuave Says:

Ok, it’s not a huge loss. We still have our draft capital. I here Licht has Barkley on the top of his board. Hmmmmmm

  105. Tony from Los Angeles Says:

Licht may have a plan, but it is apparent it’s going to the usual over-draft a guy(s) at a position of need and declare the new guy the singular savior to all that ails the pass rush.

Then when that one guy pulls a quad or whatever in preseason week 3 you have built in”Noah Spence-sequence” excuse!!

This is what subpar management looks like, folks! The Bucs need to bring in a hoard of guys to fix what ails them on both lines.

Licht has one last chance in my eyes with Norwell – but reports are that he will miss that opportunity as well.

Licht needs to see the light…

FIX THE TRENCHES, FIX THE BUCS!!

  106. Knucknbuc Says:

Lol licht becomes an even bigger joke them what I thought. Follow the licht! Right guys??? The licht must be somewhere in the toilet bowl bec that’s where the bucs are going to end up. It’s become obvious that other NFL ppl probably consider licht a joke as a gm. He doesn’t know how 2 play hardball and get his guy. You telling me he couldn’t have offered a 4th and 5th for Quinn he’ll even a 3rd? A fourth for bennett? Where the he’ll is this moron going to get a pass rush? Maybe he’s expecting Buckner to wave his magic pixy dust from his privates and make will Clarke a man beast. F u licht. You suck.

  107. JimmyJack Says:

I don’t know Rod. If you give me a motivated Mo Wilkerson I would take him over Quinn any day. Maybe the Bucs got a good feeling that’s the case and they can sign him.

Or maybe Buckner, from his day with Car, knows he can get Peppers here. Or maybe they know what’s up with Wake or another player that may be a cap casulity……I don’t know how you can say at this point not signing Quinn is unforgivable. If they wind up bringing in a bunch of lame ducks at the position I will agree. But your summarizing the books after two pages hahahaha.

If Bennett is trash then WTF do you call what we have now?

  108. Bucnjim Says:

Yes Quinn is a game changer Bennett is not and at 27 he is now in his prime. He may have had some influence in the decision. If someone asked me if I’d rather be in south beach or Tampa at the age of 27 and a millionaire it wouldn’t even be close.

  109. TrollSlayer Says:

    greecosuave

im thinking most teams have barkley at the top of their boards hes the best RB prospect since zeke elliot but that would be a steal if he fell to us at no. 7– im thinking chubb and barkley will both be gone dont be shocked if we draft nelson or trade back and get davenport or a CB

  110. JimmyJack Says:

DB55…..If Cameron Wake gets cut you’ll be unhappy?

  111. MadMax Says:

Whew….gj on this one Jason….i was getting a little worried. Theres other players out there not on the wrong side of 30 who are hungry and willing.

  112. Knucknbuc Says:

And don’t give me that it’s too much draft capitol if licht would’ve offered a 3rd for Quinn and a 4th for Bennett. Esp when moron licht traded a 3rd and a 4th to move up in the draft to select a directionally challenged kicker.

  113. Frank Pillow Says:

A-P-A-T-H-Y! Say it with me…APATHY! Hallelujah!
We are target locked on Davenport b/c that’s what stupid does.

  114. Clintro Says:

You guys are crazy. Maybe Bennett didn’t even want to come back here. I mean we did cut him. I doubt he has many good years left anyhow.

  117. Horse Liver Says:

This tmaxcon fellow seems to know a lot about football. Certainly a lot more about it than the people that play it, coach it, and manage it in the NFL.

Like, here;s Brentson Buckner talking about being the new Bucs DL coach and why he came: ‘

Buckner on what drew him to the opportunity with the Bucs:

“Really playing in this league and actually having a chance to play against the Tampa Bay Bucs – I’m talking about when they were at their heyday – and just seeing the excitement in this town, the fanbase, the tradition of being a great defensive team, which I sort of marveled at playing against them. Then having the opportunity to come here and reset that foundation with some great young players, some stalwarts like Gerald McCoy [and] three of the most athletic linebackers you’re going to find in the NFL. Having the chance to coach the guys that protect them – I had to jump at the chance.”

So obviously he is just saying that as a smoke screen, to improve McCoy’s trade value. After all, what would Buckner know about McCoy being a soft cancer? He wasn’t around the Bucs practice field and locker room.

Clearly this tmaxcon is some kind of football guru. I am impressed with his wisdom, refuting every so called NFL expert to “out” the soft McCoy.

  118. JimmyJack Says:

Are you guys going to take back your comments if we trade for JPP tomorrow? Hahahaha This is too funny. Defo bbl

  121. Lamarcus Says:

    Jimmyjack

U didn’t have to trade for jpp if u gotten Bennett or Quinn or someone.

  122. Bucnjim Says:

The offense has a really good core of young players that we should be excited about. Now we need to set our sights on a young core of defensive players. I think Kwon and Beckwith are a start. These guys do not except losing and that is what this team needs. The losing culture has been accepted around here long enough.

  123. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Ok I respect what the kid has brought to table.
But its time to move Gerald McCoy.
So that we can recoup some cap space.
And more important acquire – another valuable premier draft pick.

Time to move to a more hybrid front. Wish the brother nothing but the best.
But its time to move on.

I’m highly confused…..Do you have a crystal ball that tell you that Quinn and Bennet will be the only guys who produce here. And anybody else we get will either flop or get hurt?

  129. DB55 Says:

And here my friends is the truth. Tampa is just not a place where real baller wanna be bc of the let’s say culture:

  132. TrollSlayer Says:

  133. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – Everything I’ve read about Mo says he’s lazy and a locker room cancer, not sure why coming to the Bucs would change that, the coaching staff isn’t really a boot in the rear-end kind of regime that could turn that around. Quinn had been injured but even that he’s coming off an 8.5 sack season and has a 19 sack season in his history, even missing a game or two I’d still pencil Quinn in for 9 sacks – and to get that done for a 3rd round pick, it’s unforgivable that Licht did not. With Mo, he seems like a guy that will sign with the Pats.

  134. tmaxcon Says:

The losing culture has been accepted around here long enough.

yet this site is still infatuated with a career loser and leader of said losing culture cancer93… can’t have it both ways.

  135. Joe Mama Says:

What percentage of free agents pan out with their new teams? I would think the number is low. It certainly has been for the Bucs. Free agents generally get paid for what they accomplished up to that point and not what they have left to give.

I am a big believer in building through the draft. Hope Springs eternal! However, it’s hard to get excited when you have seen your GM draft a kicker with his 2nd round pic. It would have been less painful to have Joe take me out back and kick me in the coin purse.

My expectations are low. Low for the draft prospects and if they will pan out. Low for the season the Bucs will likely have, and yes low that the Patriots will suck this year. But I will still wear the colors every Sunday and hope for the best.

  137. BuccaneEric75 Says:

I’m upset, but I’m not going to kill Licht on here over it because I don’t know what goes on behind the scenes, but I find it hard to believe that a team with no DEs wouldn’t at least offer enough to land one of them, if not both. We could have had a D line of Bennett, McCoy, Quinn and if Licht chose to draft Vita… WOW! But I guess that’s the life of being a Bucs fan, dreaming!

  138. darin Says:

Wtf bucs. You said it joe. Rarely do great pass rushers become available. Missed out on 2 in a week. In trade talks for both yet he didnt beat those measley demands? So the team had 22 sacks and he is trying to low ball other teams for great pass rushers. I’m disgusted with licht. N yes I know he does have a plan. Maybe thats the problem. Licht is joining the extended vacation crew after the season.
He really really must think the world of Big Brent Buckner to think he is gona turn the guys on line now into a productive unit. Hope Buck knows the LBs and DBs will never be in on the rush. Booooooo Licht

  150. Lamarcus Says:

I would of gotten all the de out there like it’s no tomorrow. GMC is not good enough to hold his own. Never had. So yeah. I would of traded for both Bennett and Quinn. Throw in JPP I don’t here anything about no 4-7 picks cuz they are never worth anything but a warm body

  151. BetterBuccinBelieveIt Says:

    Say it with me ladies…..

SA-QUON, SA-QUON. Although all are still baffled, Licht is still saving his draft capital (2018 & 2019 Rounds 1-5) for ANY combination of what Cleveland (or possible different team) will demand at last minute for SA-QUON.

    Just deal. 🙂

Now the Bucs will have to score 67 points a game on offense with SA-QUON….versus what will transpire once the opposing offense takes the field.

I’ll take those odds! Everyone is so tense sheesh.

    Go Bucs!

  152. JimmyJack Says:

Yeah it might be unlikely they trade JPP. It doesn’t have to be him. Just a name I’m spitballing. And maybe Wilkerson is a cancer like you’ve heard. But it also could be possible it was an internal issues between him and the Jets.

My point is that there are more possibilities then just Quinn or Bennett. And if we sign, just say, Peppers to come here my thoughts will be exactly the same if they traded for Quin……..I hope it works.

If they choose to rebuild this line another way with lesser names theres a possibility it could work out even better. My thought to that would be…… I hope these guys know what their doing.

And spare me the he struck out in free agency bit. Maybe last year he was listening to Mike Smith telling him to target Swaggy. Maybe this year he builds a line will Buckner opinion in mind…..I have no clue what led him to Swaggy, do you?

Some of y’all act like you can predict the future and know who would do the most damage for us next year. I find it comical

  153. SOEbuc Says:

Make a big trade and some others for more picks and good players (don’t have to be great), trade up to three for Chubb, trade back into the first for Vea. Malcolm Butler and Carlos Hyde in FA along with other good players at needed positions (all). Never know what kind of picks or what the hell happens before and during the draft, but after all this, SS with the third round pick if we still got one.

Damn, we would look like New England (without the cheating) every year if I was Bucs GM.

  154. Wausa Says:

Good to hear DB55. He lied about what happened to him in Vegas and has been an outspoken critic of the men and women in blue that protect and serve in this country.

  155. Lamarcus Says:

    Jimmyjack

Relax. We predicting our present time now. Which we have a bad team and desperate for help.

  156. JimmyJack Says:

Lamarcus….I hear ya. I actually really wanted Bennett. Especially after Quinn got traded.

But come on man, some of these fans are freaking out. You gotta admit that.

I have scrolling through these comments a couple times now and still laughing. I not good on computers or I’d be reposting and laughing at some of this hysterical nonsense.

But the all time best was in the Quinn section and one guy said the 2018 season was over hahahhhahahahahhaha

  157. The Buc Realist Says:

Great move by the GM not to panic like the sheep and waste draft picks/ammo for a guy who would bring a distraction and only a handful of sacks and would not be on the roster in 2019!!!!!!!!!!!!!

liar bennett would not get this roster to the playoffs, The Better option is to rebuild the D-line!!!!!!

That clown is not the only DE that can get a few sacks, no sense in giving valued picks for him!!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  158. JimmyJack Says:

Realist…….liar Bennett?? Dude I don’t care if the guy was an arsonist. We need somebody that can put some pressure on the freaking QB bro.

I mean it don’t have to be Bennett but we don’t need to be shunning people based on the “liar liar pants on fire” theory. That’s some rich stuff right there man haha

  159. TBTeddy Says:

All you guys saying it’s good we didn’t get him because he’s old or a cancer have to tell me how you would fix the line. We aren’t good enough to be so picky. We can’t guarantee that we will get any quality DEs in FA because they might not want to come to Tampa. That’s why missing out on Quinn and Bennet is such a big deal, we have no insurance plan for our Dline. Sometimes you have to make the easy decision and not try to play genius. Its a shame the players on the team are trying to recruit who we need but our front office thinks

  160. D-Rome Says:

Great move by the GM not to panic like the sheep and waste draft picks/ammo for a guy who would bring a distraction and only a handful of sacks and would not be on the roster in 2019

I actually agree with this for the most part because the Bucs have a losing culture, the worst coaching staff in the division, and a roster full of holes. Bennett would end up getting only three sacks with the Bucs because…well….Bucs. Like you said, I still think the Bucs can find someone who can get you 3-5 sacks off the edge. No sense in trading for that when you can find a player like that, a relative unknown, and keep your assets.

I think the Bucs are going to regret not stepping up on an offer for Robert Quinn but I don’t know if the Bucs can afford to give up a pick and a player for Michael Bennett. You do it for Quinn who’s a former DPOY.

  161. SOEbuc Says:

What the hell is going on here???Are we gonna pick up LeVeon Bell??? Leveon Bell and Quenton Nelson in the first??? BOOM!!! Defense the rest of the draft and FA. 162. D-Rome Says:

To add to what I already said, I have to give credit to Jason Licht for not making deals like a drunken sailor to save his own skin. I mean, one has to have a fair amount of mettle to make decisions as if you’re *not* going to lose your job if you fail.

  163. Gambelero Says:

I’m upset at the seeming indifference/ineptitude of Licht and the Glazers, but we also have to aware that there are 32 teams in the league. Every time a coveted player becomes available, we have a 1/31 chance everything else being equal. Our prior penury has left us with more ammunition, but otherwise it’s not reasonable to go “Why did we miss?” On every single prospect.

  164. 813bucboi Says:

we’ve tried building with lesser names…..it hasn’t worked out…..all that patch work has gotten us where we currently are now…..back to square one…..

this offseason is exactly like last years TC…..soft and lifeless…..no sense of urgency…..everybody wants to be friends and liked…..I for sure cant predict the future but I believe ive seen this movie before……I hope im wrong…..

One can’t consider Bellichick a genius, know he also refused to pony up a mere 5th round pick for Bennett, and at the same time rip Jason Licht for doing same thing.

Bennett is an aging, expensive, potential locker-room cancer … Philly can have him. I’d rather Licht spend the $8+mil Bennett will make on a young DE like Kony Ealy or a CB like EJ Gaines, etc.

Honestly realist I like you and mean no disrespect but you people and your smug fckn attitudes make me sick. Wtf has this team done in the last decade? What happens when they’re asked to move them and their families to Europe for 6 months outta the year? And do people in London and Europe even like American Football? Only Bucs fan base are people who have been die hard Bucs fans for a while. Trying to stay optimistic is hard as a Bucs fan. But we do have some nice offensive pieces in place. Ok, if we bolster our Oline with free agents either Norwell, Sitton, or the center from the Ravens, draft Nelson @7 we at least will have one of the toughest Olines in Nfl. Add a speed elusive rb to pair with Barber and our offense will be the total package. Obviously we still have issues on defense including pass rush, cb’s but I can get back on board IF and I sa IF we do pick up 2 Olinemen and another rb. Our defense at least has a few studs to build around including Kwon, LVD, Beckwith, Evans, Spence if his shoulder holds up, McCoy, re sign Mcdonald, Ayers and Gholston are decent rotational players. So I am choosing to stay positive. Please give us a reason to be optimistic Licht. GO BUCS !!!!

It’s a 5th round pick for God’s sake. The receiver in the deal has made a total of 5 NFL catches for 45 yards, you mean to tell me we didn’t offer a 5th and Martino??? They even got a 7th round pick with Bennett for Christ’s sake lol…
This is garbage, Joe’s. I really consider myself a level headed fan with a knowledgeable yet positive outlook on the Bucs and this just reeks of overall team failure. These are playoff teams that feel like they need to improve, and they’re sitting at the back of the pack pinching pennies, saving all this cap space like theyre the damn Rays. We’re trying to finagle bargains from actual established while the rest of the league either improves their roster or uses us as leverage to get better deals from other teams. If we were actually forthright in an attempt to improve this roster we could’ve had an excellent end on our roster, instead Licht is trying to be a star GM and rip off teams and is instead getting outbid.
    I’m pissed off too, Joes.

  184. Defense Rules Says:

@IndianaBuc … “Maybe they are holding out on signing Poe, Wilkerson & Richardson.” Personally hope you’re right Indiana on the 1st two; not so much on Richardson. Seriously doubt that McCoy is going anyplace, at least this year. But with GMC & Poe, we’d have a much better interior DLine. Then draft ANOTHER DT (would love Vea or Payne, but Rnds 3-4 sound more realistic). Draft 1-2 DEs & our DLine should be much more solid this year … GMC, Poe, Vea or Payne (hopefully), McDonald (re-sign), Wilkerson (FA), Spence, Ayers, Gholston, Clarke (re-sign), Rookie DE. That’s 4 pretty strong DTs and 6 DEs (that hopefully 2-3 will separate from the pack). Should be good potential there for using a 3-4 much more also, but still being able to field a pretty strong 4-3 (from an interior DLine standpoint).

  185. Lord Cornelius Says:

All I know is if Bennet and/or Quinn combine for 17 sacks again in 2018 like they did in 2017 Realist better eat some crow lol…

  186. Bucsfan951 Says:

I should own stock in BevMo by now! Stopping on the way home from work to grab another bottle of crown. I can’t wait for licht and his dumpster diving he’ll do on day 5 of free agency.

  187. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

What is the record for posts on one article this early in March its like a winter noreaster today, again licht has ZERO plan, ZERO identity for the bucs, the defense is putrid, losing faith in the turnover machine, they take solid marpet and screw him and line up by putting him at center, no RB, had licht had a clue, he could have grabbed, evans then carr not release penn and zuttah, and build a real team but now its this garbage forget cleveland south, this is tampa rays north

  188. Dan Says:

    Great job Bucs. Not!!!!!!

  189. NFLNut Says:

    **************

I posted a complete plan for this offseason that would remake and improve nearly every area of our team … however it seems most posters just want to b*tch about Licht … where are your SOLUTIONS people? Anyone can complain … offer some actual solutions.

    **************

  190. donuts Says:

Bucs – Worst run franchise in the NFL. Sadly, we are turning into an NFL comedy show.

  191. tmaxcon Says:

    NFLNut

discussing solutions is meaningless considering ownership has no intention of fielding a respectable team. Not to mention EVERY free agent with a choice is going to run as far away from Tampa as possible. there truly is no hope to improve this team based on ownership’s level of competence and history of horrendous choices. when your last good decision was 17 years ago firing dungy there is not much hope.

  192. tmaxcon Says:

    donuts

turning into really? bucs have a been a laughing stock 40 out of 42 years.

  193. SOEbuc Says:

Makes me cry like a baby to say it. Trade LVD for at least multiple good picks and probably a decent player while getting bunch more cap space. Pick up Leveon Bell. Get LB Roquan Smith (UGA) at #7 (Every NFL scout/GM and their mother say he looks exactly like LVD). And we’ll have multiple good picks from LVD trade. Can use some to possibly trade back into the first for Vea or Davenport if they’re at the right spot.

    #SOEbucforGM

  194. Lamarcus Says:

    NFL nut

Licht is as impotetent as GMC always talking but no walking

  195. tmaxcon Says:

    soebuc

you need a drug test LVD is maybe a 5th maybe 4th round … multiple picks for slow starting slightly above average lb who is self admitted mentally weak and can’t recover after bad calls or big plays…

  196. NFLNut Says:

    tmaxcon,

If you believe your reply to me … why not just get a new favorite team to follow?

I guess I just don’t understand having a favorite “team” … all teams are just businesses so I can’t associate with them … I follow players as I can associate with them … but, if I did have a favorite team and I was sure that team was garbage and would always be garbage, I’d certainly find a different favorite team if for no other reason than to maintain my own emotional and mental wellbeing …

  197. stanglassman Says:

I feel so much smarter after reading all these comments.
Found out Jason is showing his draft board to fans. Okafor was trading to the giants and the Seahawks are insisting on Godwin in a trade for Sherman.

    Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence!

  198. tmaxcon Says:

if all these career losers had such a high trade value as you delusional people think the bcus would not have spent the last decade in the basement embarrassing themselves.

  199. tmaxcon Says:

    NFLNut

Because I have been invested in bucs since 1978. I have earned the right to betoch and to no longer settle for a pathetic on field product….. I was patient long enough.

  200. NFLNut Says:

^ Were you happy the year they won the SB? How long did that happiness last?

  201. Architek Says:

    LMBO –
Licht and Koetter is screwed now as for FA DE pass rush help. I promise even with rookie and C level pass rushers, this defense will be hogwash yet again.

I have no faith in this organization at all and I have already lost interest in this team and I passively watch because of the dam failure and drama entertainment value. This is probably the worst organization in the NFC – seriously, the Bucs are terrible from the top down.

  202. Architek Says:

When they get some real football people in the office that have a plan and won’t require 4-5 years to turn over a bad roster only to still not have a pass rush, then I will be emotionally vested.

I feel for Buc fans I really do. The city is Tampa is nice and nice people.

  203. tmaxcon Says:

    NFLNut

sure I was happy. went to the game live. stayed drunk for 3 days afterwards. super bowl wins expire week 1 of following season. winning a super bowl does not give the bucs a lifetime free pass to crap themselves. I am a very kind, compassionate and positive person I just refuse to settle for garbage. you are either great or a failure…. bucs are a failure under glazers. nothing in the world worse than mediocrity yet bucs fans call the failed dungy era glory years… never settle and raise your standards simple as that.

  204. Buccaneer scotty Says:

Thank you Jesus! So happy we didn’t give up a pic for him

  205. Defense Rules Says:

@tmaxcon … “I am a very kind, compassionate and positive person.” Tmaxcon, you forgot to add ‘delusional’ to that description of yourself.

  206. SteveK Says:

    Hell yeah Tmaxcon!

    Preach!

    LuvMyBucs,

I agree with your post. I love McCoy, and we should set him free… for a draft pick.

  207. I Bleed Pewter and Red Says:

I wonder how much Bennett had in the decision to go to Eagles? He had 2 Super Bowl teams and division champion to decide from so how much consideration do you think he gave the Bucs? Had the trade had happened with the Bucs you could bet the house we would’ve been hosed for our draft picks.

  208. John meeks Says:

Well,I’m hoping our GM has a plan because his off season so far has been very quiet for someone who is on a 1 year leash.im gonna wait and see how this all plays out but so far I’m left damn near speechless which is very rare for me!

  209. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I can’t believe some here are actually “fans”…..sure, I’m disappointed in our losing seasons and as frustrated as anyone over our impotence…..but I haven’t given up on being a fan or given up hope.

As far as Michael Bennett is concerned…..I can guarantee you that if Jason Licht/Buckner/Koetter/Smith wanted him…..he would be a Buc. Maybe they have something else in mind…..how about let’s doing the only thing a fan can do and wait to see what that is (or isn’t)?

It’s a whole lot more fun to be a Tampabaybucfan…..believe me.

  210. NFLNut Says:

    tmaxcon,

Thanks for explaining. I guess I just don’t get the whole “team fan” thing … it seems like a lot of stress and heartache as it’s all based on winning rings which almost never happen.

  211. adam from ny Says:

seems like balls are bouncing off one gm’s chin right about now my doods!

  212. DBS Says:

I can not help.but laugh when I see some one jump on people and use Pro Bowl players as the reason to get them here. All the time trying to run a Pro Bowl player off.

  213. Ron Pepka Says:

Getting ready for another 4 win season.

  214. P’cola Buc Says:

Licht is certainly coming off as being ineffectual. Needs to come out big during the draft. If not, we will not see the “Licht” at the end of this season.

  215. tmaxcon Says:

I’m at the other office are you at Russ’s

  216. DanBucsFan Says:

@this point all we really can do his hope we get a couple starters next week and have a above average draft. Unfortunately doesn’t look like we are going to aquire anyone via trade, so free agency and draft it is. We need 2 cb’s 2 interor Olinemen and a startind ss. Of coarse Dline help, but those pickings are slim to non existing as far as major upgrades through draft\ free agency, of coarse that is why most of us are upset that we missed out on trades for both Quinn, and Bennet. Go Bucs !!!

  217. Nater Says:

Bennett is garbage as person. He’s a dirty player. He’s baby.Glad he’s not a Buc. Hope to God the Bucs stay away from Richard Sherman also.

  218. DB55 Says:

I can’t help to laugh at people who are too posse to call posters out by name cuz they know they’ll get cussed out. Stay in your lane.

  219. SteveK Says:

    Agree, db55!

lol at ambiguous negative comments. Hit each other with the real!

  220. richbucsfan Says:

Seems like Tampa Bay is not where free agents want to play. Could it be because they will have a new system and coach to play for after this season?

  221. DanBucsFan Says:

Hire D. Brooks as our next Gm… He is Tampa Buc through and through. He cant do any worse than our current Gm who would be a great college scout but is in over his head as Gm IMO

  222. Bobby M. Says:

No way to know what exactly happens behind the scenes but i get the impression that the organizations are giving these players some say in where they go as a show of respect/professionalism……Which means we are basically the Browns of the NFC. People only come here for a pay day and if given the choice, they elect elsewhere. Bucs are screwed when free agency hits…..we’ll have to over pay for anyone worth while and whomever we get isn’t possibly coming here because they think we are “close”….its the money and that’s a terrible formula for a locker room/roster.

  223. The Anomaly Says:

Please no Derrick Brooks. WHat has he done in a front office? Quarles should get a shot over DB, whose team just folded. No thanks. Love DB but nowhere near our front office. Maybe as a LB coach but nothing more.

  224. 813bucboi Says:

We passed on a guy that had more sacks than we had wins….. And people talking about maybe they have someone else in mind….. Someone like who…. Everybody else is signed….

Everybody talking about if this and maybe that but I don’t see it….. It’s looking like last year…. We’re aiming for 2nd and 3rd tier FA’s…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!!

  225. I Bleed Pewter and Red Says:

The patriots couldn’t lure Michael using his brother as bait so when Michael agreed to go the Eagles, the Patriots dropped Martellus like a hot potato. Bet Martellus signs with Eagles now.

  226. DBS Says:

No problem DB55. You want to use the Pro Bowl to tell people that is why the DE’s should have been picked up. But then everyday your trying to run a Pro Bowl player out of town. LOL!!!! Which is it? The Pro Bowl is a positive or a joke??? Now cuss!!

  227. horst Says:

    “Were just not in sink”

  228. Greg Says:

So word is Seattle wanted Chris Godwin for Bennett?? Oh hell No! What makes Bennett the be all end all?? Is he the franchise saviour? No. He surely isn’t worth Godwin. We are more than a DE on the wrong side of 30 that will surely want his contract redone with all the cap space the Bucs have away from the playoffs.

If Godwin was indeed part of the deal, then kudos to Jason Licht for not pulling the trigger.

  229. ATrain Says:

    London Bucs

    The newest NFL franchise

NFL has added games in London
    Great Market
Both Glazer teams on the same Continent

Follow the Rays model to move a team

  230. JabooBuc Says:

hopefully this trade means we don’t have to hear about Bennett any longer. Please move on…

  231. Dewey Selmon Says:

Bobby M. nailed it, guys that are cap casualties are having some say in the matter. IF it fits the best interest of the team.

  232. Pryda ...sec147 Says:

    Get Wilkerson please

  233. Issic Haggins Says:

Earth to Jason Licht , You have in four years assembled the worst D line and D backfield in the NFL

The goal is to win a Super Bowl , you have 8 team position groups and 32 teams but the Bucs have 2 of the NFL s worst out of 8 .

Not a Chance the Rams ,Patriots or Eagles would have Hardgraves or Spence in their 2018 starting team Super Bowl ready team plans .

If you haven’t noticed those three teams have been very active in assembling their rosters testing to win a Super Bowl and who in the hell has any idea what the hell the Licht train is doing . Btw those three teams built a big big portion of their teams through trades and free agency and they were very aggressive and diligent , not being denied and finding a way to get what they need.Bottom Line Licht has the Top 5 FA money which allows you to be even more aggressive trading and and and the Bucs do have draft pick talent that is starting and it’s in the percentage range that you want it to be , your not going to have a team that is 85 percent their own draft picks . It’s going to be a 60/ 40 thing and seldom 60 percent draft picks.Jerry Jones may have had a higher than normal percentage after the H Walker trade and the tremendous job trading back they did.

Licht it’s your 5 th year and you are not close as you delusionally stayed you have 25 percent of a 32 team leagues worst position groups and that is absolutely PATHETIC . Hell ,we could throw in running back also ,you have actually managed an astonishing 3 of 8 worst units in the entire NFL . Rb,Cb,DL
    This is Comical !!!

  234. Pickgrin Says:

Damn – ya’ll some reactionary MFers

  235. SteveK Says:

    Pickgrin,

We need to win some ball games this year. We had a chance to trade for some studs and to sign another in FA last year. Not trying to overreact but trying to not finish last in the division again.

  236. AKick'nTheBucNuts Says:

I hope all our inactivity is a sign the Glazers are selling.

  237. USFBUC Says:

On one hand some here are probably over-reacting but on the other hand can we blame them? We could have acquired two DEs that are upgrades over what we have now for a fourth, fifth, and our two sixth rounders.

And for those talking about saving draft capital, while I would love to draft Barkley I think to move up to 3 would take more than our picks this year. I would also only want to see that kind of move if we had already addressed our other positions.

  238. USFBUC Says:

Once the draft happens then we can really start to riot about the lack of moves

  239. First Down Tampa Bay Says:

Hearing Suh might get cut from the Phins.. ANY chance we could scoop him Up?

  240. JimmyJack Says:

Hahaha…..Awesome thread. You guys know. Maybe Licht just ain’t a panicker. He knows these guys are out there and he’s gonna offer fair value in a trade. Not really good for the guy to try and do his job if he has a reputation for getting bullied out of desperation.

Sure it’s probably a make or break year for him. But I’d personally much rather be in this situation with a GM that’s confident rather then one getting tight and making desperate attempts to grasp at straws……..But we shall see there’s plenty of time for him to still make a panick move. The Bucs aren’t standing pat that’s for sure. Will be interesting.

Maybe take a look back in the mirror for perspective. It’s a helpful exercise. Remember all those years(last years included) where we won free agency? Where did that get us? Everything isn’t always what it seems.

Now I demand some of you hysterical fans to take up some Lightning hockey. You Obvisously can’t handle the ups and downs of a offseason.

  241. JimmyJack Says:

First Down…..I think 5here is a very good chance the Bucs will be in the market to sign a big name at DT. That was a position they had identified last year to upgrade(Baker) and I think they still will feel the same way. Poe has been mentioned as well and he may actually be a better option.

  242. Lamarcus Says:

    Jimmyjack

It’s been too long of losing to be in cruise control. I believe it’s panic mode. Look in the mirror Jimmyjack.

No playoffs in 16 years and counting
    No pass rush
Your number corner is VH3 right now
Your top defensive player or so called is a baby Huey with one position 3 tech
No run game after Peyton barber
Djx is a bust or needs work?
A 7 pick in the draft I believe no one is worthy of outside IF Chubb, Nelson, or Davenport falls there
Consecutive losing streaks during the previous season when our expectations was at least Wildcard They botched last year. To me everyone was responsible and when u have glaring issues on defense that cant be ignored. Maybe Hayes was that awful but I highly doubt it.

  243. ATrain Says:

I Bet a Beer at Abe’s Place the Bucs don’t sign a decent DL free agent

  244. Lamarcus Says:

Again I would of traded for both Bennett, Quinn, and another DE and anag either Talib or Sherman (if healthy enough) and drafted my 7 pick with the best player available. You have the dough. Go spend. They would want us to pay for them, right? It goes hand and hand. Everybody wins with winning. Every one lose with losing so I would of traded my draft for those guys. 💯

  245. DB55 Says:

This is all a horrible pattern that may very well go beyond Jason Licht.

Worst yet we can look forward to another year of griping bc we have no pass rush.

There is no indication whatsoever that the Bucs FO have a plan so much so that even gmc is online publicly questioning the lack of urgency.

It’s tough to watch this happen year after year, that is watching the best FAs get signed while the Bucs sign tier 3 FAs like Swaggy and George Johnson while our division rivals sign Peppers, Poe and Ryan Ramcyzk.

So the division gets stronger as the glazers sit on the arses and raise prices, how does this not upset you?

Meanwhile the TB pen and mic club is like calm down there’s nothing to see here bc obviously I feed my family by towing the company line.

    Come on people

  246. Lamarcus Says:

I keep reading stories on how these Free Agents top choices are other teams. Top teams.

Bucs probably ain’t as attractive. It’s like going to Browns. I mean I get it.

  247. Issic Haggins Says:

A couple of the top five teams have been active attempting to position themselves to get better or repeat their success !!

The Bucs with 3 out of 8 of the worst position groups in the NFL haven’t done anything yet other than miss some opputunities to get better .

Oh ya , Light is a genius !!! Not to Worry !!!

The other GMs on Super Bowl and playoff teams need to sit back and take notes from Licht !!!

  248. Ed Kerber Says:

I have never lived in Tampa.

But I am a Bucs fan since 1989. I used to play them on my younger brother’s GameBoy. I have followed the team for 30 years. They stunk then. They stink now. But I got to see with my own eyes how this team could rise out of the ashes.

TMAXCON. We got it. You do not like #93.

But why run off a decent but not otherworldly player. We will see what this off season brings. It is possible to pick up a RB, OG, C, 2DBs, and a safety as free Agents. Then spend ALL picks on DLine help. The team would be pretty good.

  249. Pickgrin Says:

I’m sure Licht did his due diligence and was offering fair compensation in every case so far that too many are squawking about. . You can’t force a player or another team to do business with you. There are 31 other teams all vying for the same resources. Bucs fans seem to think we can just go sign any free agent or trade for any rumored undesired player we want. It doesn’t work that way. Takes two to tango. No one here has any idea how hard Licht was or wasn’t trying to get any particular “available” player that you personally covet – nor do you know what the Bucs current evaluation of any of these players is either. Just a bunch of negative assumptions based on nothing but frustration.

I get it. Last year sucked. But this team IS on the rise with some very good young players and so many of the Neggie Nellies on here are just so sure that we are doomed to 4-12. The tampering free period of FA hasn’t even started and people want to know why Licht hasn’t done anything yet…. LOL

  250. USFBUC Says:

Hey in other news the Dolphins might looking to move Ja’Wuan James an experienced and solid RT who is only 25!

  251. Issic Haggins Says:

The other GM s task is looking to get the most or best viewed compensation for their team and they could care less on these deals that have gone down ; whom they deal with or where the player goes.

All things being equal they may grant the players wishes or if the player is an absolute animal they will forgo the same division but let’s be clear it is the GM s job to get the most compensation.

The rams GM didn’t tell Licht we don’t want to deal with you , nor did Schneider with the Seahawks ………..Some of You California glue sniffers sound like Rick Stroud , who btw does a fair job but some of this trade garbage he is spewing is just that absolute made up garbage.

You need two teams to tango comes into play when multiple extra draft picks are needed or targeted players are in play for both teams , This clearly hasn’t been the case . Licht offered less , period !!! Not a big deal if the Bucs aren’t as viewed by all NFL personnel , in the worst need of a pass rush of any team !! But they are !!!

Licht simply wasn’t willing to give for Quinn , a stud 27 year old DE which are rare ;as much as he gave for Beckwith an unproven Pretty easy to come by young L Backer. Yes the Bucs spent more on Beckwith than they offered for Quinn.

I feel like I’m helping write a fictional Buc team building novel or I’m dreaming.

Even worse the Bucs have the young QB that is every teams biggest problem and you are watching Licht just absolutely blow the opportunity . If you question if Winston can play just look at at his qbr the
LAST three games when Martin was removed and The D had to at least be aware of the run. Those numbers were also behind a backup line running for his life. Top 3 in the
    League I believe

Half of Winston’s Fumbles and piss poor plays will fix themselves ( clueless Monken)when he has to quit making every play to keep the drive alive while getting below average protection. The long ball is def a work in progress but if he can sit step and throw like Tom Brady can , he would for sure be better, but he does need a lil work.

  252. cmurda Says:

232 comments already. Whoa whoa. Buc faithful are clearly fired up as the best options at positions of need are disappearing. This will be another year of mediocre or over the hill FA’s in the 2nd tier of free agency. Those always work out well: Ghost Johnson, Swaggy Baker, JR Sweezy etc etc etc.

  253. Pa Privateer Says:

If we can’t get a top DE, then we need to address the positions that help impact a DE.

    1. Sign 2 FA press CBs
    2. Sign better FA NT
    3. Sign pass several more lighter DT (3 tech) and use them in DE rotation
    4. Sign a 34 rush OLB and use on passing downs
    5. Sign FA FS

Seriously, let’s sign some additional 3 tech DTs and use them as DEs. Do not mock this idea. Who else will you get to play DE?

    NT/DT Poe? Suh? Richardson? Lotulelei?
    DE Willkerson? Okafor? Ealy?
    OLB Houston? Mingo? Glanton?

Defensive coaches need to get creative

  254. ChanEpic Says:

    4-12, here we come

  255. Mike Johnson Says:

Yep..We close allright. Close to the celler again. No Quinn. No Bennett. We’s stickin to our plan…whatever that is. All radio units clear the airwaves. We’re comin in at blazin speed. Hellbent on another losing season and more excuses.
    BUCLIFE baby!!

  256. SteveK Says:

    Issic Haggins,

Jameis makes a lot of silly, unforced errors. Sacks, picks, and fumbles happen, but the ones of the careless variety need to stop. Jameis is better than that. And Jameis got solid protection last year. He needs to get rid of the ball and live to play another down. I love his competitive nature, but he needs to have a mental clock in his head of when he should get rid of the ball and not force anything STUPID.

  257. TOM Says:

Licht is making Dominic look like a genius.

  258. mark2001 Says:

So Bennett gets to play for a SB contender rather than the bottom reservation Bucs. Good for him….everything has come up roses for him since leaving the cursed Bucs team.

  259. godzilla13 Says:

One has to look at this from a different point of view. The Bucs have a great pass rush with GMC, Ayers and Spence. The same line that produced 38 sacks in 2016. Focus on our secondary, OG and RB. Wilkerson, Norwell and Talib are still available.
