Koetter Predicts An Everything Effort

December 22nd, 2017

Carolina-ready

It’s a few days before Christmas and your Buccaneers are toast.

But they are grinding, head coach Dirk Koetter said today.

Koetter hasn’t shied away previously from saying his Bucs had a rough practice or a rough practice week. But he was feeling good about his team today, as they fight the drain and strain of playing on Monday Night Football before a road game and no bye week this season.

“Yeah, these guys did a good job. I mean, you’re a short week coming off a physical game – yeah, they’ll be ready to go,” Koetter said after practice. “These guys will be ready to come out and give us what they’ve got.”

Joe sure hopes so. Team Glazer surely is monitoring the situation. Any rollover in the Bucs or a lack of fight likely would — and should — spell doom for Koetter.

Heck, if America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, is the kind of team leader Joe thinks he is, then absolutely the Bucs should look like a hungry, battling team on Sunday in Charlotte.

Even without DeSean Jackson and O.J. Howard missing, Jameis has plenty of weapons to work with. Yes, Joe considers rookie Chris Godwin a weapon. He’s earned that confidence. And Peyton Barber is the best running back the Bucs have had since 2015.

    Like Tennessee ready??????

  4. Mexican Buc Says:

    Hope We’re not Tennesee ready.

  5. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

I predict a double digit shellacking.

  6. Rod Munch Says:

Peyton Barber lost the game for the Bucs by fumbling at the ATL 5.

But keep on that hype train for the basic north/south runner who is averaging less than 4 yards per carry…

  7. NFLNut Says:

WE MUST LOSE THESE LAST TWO GAMES ON PURPOSE … PLAY HARD, PLAY GOOD, BUT BY ALL MEANS, LOSE THE GAMES!

If we lose out we should get the #5 pick which should net us either Bradley Chubb, Saquon Barkley, Minkah Fitzpatrick or a boatload of picks if we trade it down to a QB hungry team.

If we on the other hand win just one of the last two games, we could drop to #11 … and end up with Ken Webster … which would be like getting Hargreaves instead of Jalen Ramsey or Joey Bosa all over again.

Fans are SO SHORT-SIGHTED it makes me sick!

Dirk is very excited about only losing by 3 points on Monday – that’s good to know.

Anywho this game will be a disaster, it just always is. The Bucs have never played well at Carolina, even in the SB years the games at the Panthers were tough to watch. I think the Panthers just lure to teams to sleep with a boring Mike Shula lead offense.

Lets see, Christmas eve, on the road, nothing to play for, tons of players out with injuries and a head coach that is happy with losing – I’m guessing it’s a 38-6 type of game.

  9. BucFanFromOH Says:

    @Rod Munch

Barber may have fumbled (for the first as a Buc btw) @ the ATL 5, but Martin’s inability to produce ANYTHING has definitely lost more games for us than Barber has. Also, while he may be averaging less than 4 yards per carry (3.9 to be exact) he’s still outpacing Martin by nearly a full yard per carry. So… nice try, but Joe should keep pounding that drum as Barber is clearly the best back we currently have at our disposal.

  10. Defense Rules Says:

Injury report not very encouraging for Sunday’s game against the Panthers. DJax & Ayers ruled out already (not counting the FIVE guys who went on IR after the Falcons game). Lavonte & GMC are both questionable, as is Russell (DLine beaten down once again). And with Lavonte probably still hurting (hamstring) as well as Bond (also questionable) and Glanton on IR, our LBs aren’t in much better shape. Evans (IR) and Ward (concussion protocol) are both lost, so we’re down to 2 Safeties as well. Ryan Smith is questionable, and VHIII is now on IR. Yup, should be a fun game in Charlotte. I think we should fire Smitty the Scapegoat now since all the injuries are obviously his fault.

  11. Conte Piscatelli Says:

All the injuries are honestly the best thing to happen to Dirk this year. The backup players are going to play their hearts out the rest of the way, and Dirk gets a pass for losing down the stretch with a team that is undermanned and playing with great effort. Best thing Dirk can get is a chance to come back next year with the highest possible draft pick. If this team were healthy we would still lose out, but with sorry effort and it would surely get Dirk fired.

  12. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    Conte

At this point in the season I agree with you. There is another benefit as well. It’s time we were forced to see Caleb Benenoch and the rest gets some reps and see if they can learn.

The really good thing about the next two weeks reps is that they will come against playoff teams playing for position and byes. These backups will get a great lesson!!! Some will fail…at least we’ll know…but hopefully we discover another player or two.

  13. Cobraboy Says:

    An “everything effort.”

Sounds like the HC is predicting another moral victory.

    Sad times in Tampa Bay.

  14. Bucsfanman Says:

Yea, there’s some merit in being able to assess your back-up players. At some point you have to be able to trust that when their number is called they won’t crap the bed, so to speak!
I’m not confident that with our best effort we can beat Carolina. That said, this team better show up and be prepared. A LOT of jobs are on the line here!

  15. Broy34 Says:

Am I the only one equating injuries with a soft a$$ training camp

  16. chickster Says:

injuries weren’t an issue this year bucs are better without howard and Jackson . what team do u know that has 2 explosives tigh ends howard is really good but was not a need . D/E D/E D/E

  17. chickster Says:

OFFENSIVE TROUBLES THIS YEAR IS ON YOUR BOY .TOO MANY WEAPONS AND THE COACH COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT

  18. darin Says:

Glazers minds are made up. Dont think these last 2 games will make a bit off difference to them. Dirk isnt gona turn into Tom Landry in 2 weeks, unfortunately. And Dirk says the bucs are grinding…I wonder if that means he is finally putting them through a real training camp. Could have used some grind months ago.

  19. chickster Says:

THIS IS THE PATTERN WE BEAT THE BEARS THEN WENT AND GOT IT HANDED TO US IN ARIZONA SAME AS LAST YEAR AND AFTER KNOWING THIS NOTHING CHANGED THATS WHAT SHOULD CONCERN EVERY BUC FAN

  20. DB55 Says:

    Bucs win 24-21 in OT.

  21. chickster Says:

NEWTON WILL DESTROY THE BUCS 40/10

  22. Mike Johnson Says:

DB55 was the 1st to sip on that hallucinogenic I spoke of earlier. Keep sippin DB…you’ll see us as..Transformers!!

  23. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Agree NFL Nut. What a difference Chubb or Minkah or Barkley would make.

  24. AceofAerospace Says:

4-10. Soon to be 4-11. I don’t buy the hype.

  25. Zwak Says:

This is going to go bad why add fuel too the fire coach?

  26. chickster Says:

WE ALL BOUGHT THE HYPE IN THE OFF SEASON AND THE COACHES DID TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  27. Mike Johnson Says:

I NEVER BUY MY BUCS HYPE..N-E-V_E_R!!!! Been disappointed to many times since Buc initial inception into the NFl. I’m actually Awed..Shocked..Surprised. Dumbfounded when we actually field a winning team. Never beleive ..Just wait for the product on the field and evaluate.

  28. JonBuc Says:

Cam Newton will run the ball at will…with undersized Buc defenders having trouble tackling him. Hoping Jamies plays well again but for God’s sake don’t pull off a win ( they won’t ). As NFLNuts said…a win would cost about 5 slots on the draft board. Bucs strength of schedule has been the highest winning pwrcentage versus in the league…they lose all tiebreakers with other 4 win or heaven forbid 5 win teams.

  29. I'm a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

Well well well!!! Down to two Safety’s Bucsfanman!!! What are we going to do??? Oh my. I swear if Tandy and Conte play the whole game and the Bucs win I will get in my car and drive from Kentucky and kick the Dog Doody out of Irk and Smitty and make both of them get on every TV and Radio Station in Tampa and apologize to the Buc Nation for their incompetence and make both of them kiss both Conte’s and Tandy’s butt live on ESPN!!!!!!

  30. Clw JB Says:

No way we win this week – just not going to happen- we will hang for about a half then it gets ugly… the d will wear down and give up 2 or 3 second half TDS – 38-17 Kittens

  31. JimmyJack Says:

Cam Newton was in his silk PJs watchin Matt Ryan run the football on our defense and deeking defenders out of their shoes………Confidence is everything in the NFL.

  32. DBS Says:

No way they will win this game. Riverboat is to smart to let it happen and has to much riding on this game.

  33. Kansas95Buc Says:

    F^@% TANKING A SEASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  34. NFLNut Says:

^ I’m calling for them to TANK two meaningless games at the very end of a non-playoff season … it’s the only thing that makes sense unless you’re glad we got Hargreaves instead of Jalen Ramsey or Joey Bosa …

  35. Reach87 Says:

We can win this game with the same offensive game plan, execution and production as last week and better rush defense. With that and the ability to control the RB option routes ON KEY DOWNS, and we upset the Panthers in regulation. If it goes to overtime we’ll need to be all of the above plus lucky (win the toss, Panthers penalty, etc). Starts with max effort and disciplined offense. Go Bucs!

  36. NFLNut Says:

^ NO! We need to LOSE on purpose!

  37. Eric Says:

We are experts at losing, don’t worry.

Don’t have to make any adjustments to accomplish that.
