What To Make Of This Photo?

Bucs WR Mike Evans was involved in an interesting task yesterday.

It seems Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans had a cool gig yesterday. What it means isn’t exactly clear.

Via the Instagram account of Texas A&M receiver Ricky Seals-Jones, appeared a selfie with Evans in the background in what appears to be a warehouse of some sort.

Evans is signing throwback Bucs helmets.

Now the Bucs will induct Doug Williams in the Ring of Honor this year and Williams wore those helmets. The NFL, since the new labor agreement signed in 2011, forces teams to wear the same helmets all year.

Did the Bucs get a waiver to wear throwback helmets for one game or is this some marketing stunt?

“The NFL, since the new labor agreement signed in 2011, forces teams to wear the same helmets all year.”

Didn’t the Bucs have a throwback game in 2012?

  3. WalkdaPlank Says:

The real crime here is Evans wearing that Cleveland Cavaliers jersey, for a man who is 6’5″ he sure has poor taste in basketball teams!

  4. BuccaneEric Says:

Yea, cause he should choose Orlando cause they’d be a better choice! They’re so good

  5. DraftJameis Says:

Yeah WalkdaPlank maybe he should root for the Timberwolves or 76ers or someone else that’s good

  6. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

That’s my dawg. WINSton to Evans gone be sik-wit-it…

  7. mike Says:

dude… gotta bring the old unis back!!!!!

  8. BucFan20 Says:

Why not just take the newer helmets and put the strip old logos on them? OR, is this the last time and the Red and Pewter going to be the throwback from now on?

  9. rayjay1122 Says:

I understand wanting uniformity in the league but the throw back idea was cool and not allowing the different helmets now is just stupid. It was good for marketing and apparel sales since the old uniforms would still be somewhat relevant. I think the NFL is it’s own worst enemy!!!

  10. Americas Howard Cosell Says:

The organization needs to have the courage to step up and admit that
the new uniforms are an epic fail.

  11. ChessMaster Says:

I like the new uniforms. Change is always good because if you are not changing your stagnating.

  12. The original "Kevin" Says:

New unis are just fine. The fact of the matter is nothing makes you look good when your losing. Seattle hated theyre unis when yhe were first brought out.

    Now they love them.

I like our unis. I dont like our record

  13. unbelievable Says:

^^not always. Not when the new is worse than the old.

  14. Skyline Crew Says:

The new unis are fine. The team sucks that is what should change. Unis look good.

  15. PanthersSuck! Says:

All he is doing is signing helmets. He has a sharpie in his hand and you can see the autographs.

  16. Joe Says:

The reason the league has teams wear the same helmets is an effort to cut down on concussions. Nothing more sinister than that.

  17. Capt.Tim Says:

Probably gonna sell them . After Ring of fame games.
I like new uniforms. Look cool, look better with unit wearing them.

  18. Buc-A-New Says:

    Mike Evans……………”America’s Wide Receiver”

  19. WalkdaPlank Says:

Sorry, the Bucs could win the Super Bowl every year from now until the day I die, and those uniforms will never get any better looking. Sure, every now and then I see a nice candid pic of the jerseys and think “hmmm not too shabby”, then I see a pic of the old ones and go “WHY GLAZERS?!”

  20. WS99 Says:

Bucco Bruce “America’s Fa….” Oh wait my bad.

  21. Buc-A-New Says:

Best LOL of the Day DB.
    Thanks alot bro 🙂

I don’t think rayray was suggesting helmets with spikes….he meant art work and design

  23. Mord Says:

Wait … what?! .. Joe .. concussions? Is there some thinking that Bucco Bruce makes them less protective? I mean, they’re not wearing *actual* Riddells from the 70s; it’s just an artwork thing!

I, for one, love it when they bring out the throwbacks. That helmet flashes me back to some great childhood memories of going to games with my Dad.

  24. JoeJoes Fungi Nails Says:

    I wore a suspension helmet in HS…..bwahahaha
    didn’t affect me….

  25. Buc-A-New Says:

In 30 years of construction I have found that a hardhat only protects you from small cuts on your head. If a beam is falling it does not protect your neck from breaking.

  26. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Joe that excuse by the NFL doesn’t make any sense. Can they not afford two helmets with two different logos? That excuse has never made any sense.

  27. Buc-A-New Says:

I wish Pablo would give us his take on this.

  28. Buccfan37 Says:

I can’t figure out why the uniforms needed changing at all. I’ve faced it, they are ugly and the team played ugly in them. As far as them growing on me over time, it will take beaucoup time or the onset of dementia before I’ll like these butt ugly freak costumes.

  29. Roscoe the Pirate Says:

The reason the league has teams wear the same helmets is an effort to cut down on concussions. Nothing more sinister than that.

And a new helmet would be more dangerous?
    Really?
So those things get better with age? cmon man…

  30. BucFan20 Says:

    TDTB,
That was what I was saying. How damn hard is it to us the new helmets painted and the old art work for throw back games. Or is this the last time they will ever use it as the throw back uniform?

  31. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    @ChessMaster

The Seattle Seahawks have made several jersey overhauls over the years (The Last Being 2012).

    The Fans Hated (2012) Alterations!!!

So their fanbase (12th Man) complained to ownership, and ownership to listened.

Since 2013 they’ve released several design/color combinations (without changing the helmet)

Hope we do the same-That’s how U engage the young fanbase

  32. k1ngfish1 Says:

Why don’t they just put a temporary wrap over the helmets like they do with cars and boats and just peel them off after the game?

  33. LUVMYBUCS Says:

If It was me— I would actually come with 10 design concepts.

    Release them to social media.

Have the fanbase vote on the best 4 or 5 concepts. (Once Again engaging the Younger Generation)

Lol, as much as the national media hates our jersey’s. They would eat this concept Up

  34. BucFan20 Says:

Do you really want Winston to look like he works at Burger King? And yes I know I know he is the king and all before you start lol….

  35. Dewey Selmon Says:

why don’t they put Bucco Bruce and the stipe on their pewter helmets. I think it would be bad a$$.

  36. BucGator Says:

While I love the throwbacks, our new uniforms are bad ass. Love the idea from other poster to just paint our current helmets different and then wear old uniforms

  37. WS99 Says:

I vote for the black jerseys. This way we don’t have to change the helmet.

  38. MAYNE ONE Says:

I hate that weak ass old uni they shouldn’t ever wear them again

  39. Hawk Says:

Just wear the old helmets all sixteen games. Problem solved.
    Next.

  40. WS99 Says:

Alright I’m having a senior moment. I’ve search for a pic of the black game jerseys but can’t find it. Does anyone remember the game we wore black jerseys? I want to say it was a mnf game against the Rams back in 99 but chit I can’t remember what I ate for dinner so.

  41. RastaMon Says:

    Bucs never wore black jerseys…..

  42. SOEbuc Says:

I like the new helmets. The unis are ok, definently not great. I don’t know if they’ll wear throwbacks, but its obviously marketing because the team wouldn’t be wearing signed mike evans helmets.

  43. SOEbuc Says:

The red unis were some of the best in the nfl and Ive always liked the flag. I would like the previous all red modified a bit with the new numbers and helmet

  44. Danati74 Says:

The helmets are okay. I would much prefer a 1/1 auto rookie card. That is worth much more. How about going to the playoffs. That would be worth much more. Sure a warehouse of memorabilia is nice, but a 1st round receiver taking us to the playoffs is much better. Helping our RC QB get us to the playoffs is much better. Thanks for the stupid picture, but how about lets start winning.

  45. tiny tim Says:

    @WS99

The bucs never wore black jersys. They just sold them in the stores. More revenue. You may be having a senior moment.

  46. Joe Says:

    Bucs never wore black jerseys…..

Correct. Never in team history have the Bucs ever taken a field with a black jersey (thank, God).

  47. Joe Says:

Does anyone remember the game we wore black jerseys?

There is no such game. Never happened.

  48. Buc-A-New Says:

Hey DB………..I love ya no matter what. Fla will legalize Weed soon.
Don’t worry about the Black jerseys. I will try not to have bad dreams about them tonight.

  49. LargoBuc Says:

Screw the Cavs and screw Lebron. He either crys for a foul or b!thches when he gets a foul. In the good ol days, a foul only occured when, what we call flagrant today, happens. Lebron would get his a$$ kicked if the rules wern’t softened. Whiney little b!tch.
Ih and maybe Evans should wear a Spurs jersey. Isnt he from Texas?

  50. Shipwrecked87 Says:

It’d be awesome if we could wear the throwback jerseys for that game, but as per Scott Smith, the Bucs need to apply to wear alternate jerseys by mid season the year before, which we haven’t done. There was a video about it on Buccaneers.com about a month or two ago. Interrstingly this time, he said it wasn’t mandatory to wear the same helmets every game, just strongly advised.

  51. DEEnice07 Says:

It’s a warehouse that’s got all kinds of helmets that belongs to a memorabilia store. Players have been photographed here before, nothing more than a lil pocket money for ex players & current players to make by signing in huge quantities.

  52. BDorry55 Says:

They should be able to “skin” the entire helmet and change the face mask for one game…doesn’t really seem like rocket science, hopefully they figured it out.

  53. Is Buccaneers' Throwback Uniform Making Comeback Says:

[…] worth a thousand words. But, in this case, a picture is worth a thousand questions. Recently, JoeBucsFan.com spotted a selfie posted by Texas A&M wide receiver Ricky Seals-Jones on his Instagram […]
