Bucs Cut Two More; Gorrer Out For Season

August 26th, 2014
Gorrer

The roster now sits at 75. Final cuts are Saturday.

Mandatory roster cuts are a cruel thing, and Tampa Bay had to get its roster down to 75 by 4 o’clock this afternoon.

In a flurry of moves, the defensive backfield thinned out first with Danny Gorrer placed on injured reserve.

The veteran cornerback, best known for dropping what would have been an game-ending interception against Philadelphia in 2012, was one of only three unrestricted free agents re-signed by the Bucs this offseason. The other two were Jamon Meredith and Jonathan Casillas.

Gorrer didn’t play against Buffalo and was injured, a common theme among Bucs corners.

Waived were cornerback Deveron Carr, tackle Matt Patchan (injured) and T J.B. Shugarts.

The Bucs then picked up defensive back Marc Anthony, who was waived earlier this year. They also added offensive lineman Jeremiah Warren, who was on the Browns practice squad last year.

Patchan has been fighting injuries from years. Talented guy.

  2. Càrls Toe Says:

Warren is a Warhop recommendation. He studied under Cousins.

I think Patchan injures himself getting out of bed in the morning.

Bio from Pats home page: OL Jeremiah Warren, 24, started the final 38 games of his career at South Florida at guard. Warren, 6-4, 329 pounds, was named to the All-Big east second-team as a senior after starting all 12 games at guard

    Patchan dads……

THAT SUCKS! Gorrer was someone I liked and was looking forward to see him carving out a role on the team. IR two years in a row man what a bummer

  7. Bucfever40 Says:

@Kevin#1- That DOES suck, I too thought he was a good addition to this team, that’s life in the NFL.

Carr I could see getting cut, but he was in with the first string last Sat, I thought that was a little odd, imo a guy on the bubble never gets a look with the starters, but I could be wrong.

  8. Buxfan Says:

Why is Cousins still on the team??? You can’t be a 300lb linemen, getting blown up by a 250lb linebacker.

    Jonathan Casillas?

I would have thought Cousins would have been the call. 🙁

Lovie had said that he wanted to see some guys who were on the bubble get starting time, in case they showed something more. That’s why preseason depth charts mean nothing at all.

Bring in incognito for a 1 yr deal now.

  12. Seattle Buc Says:

@ Bonzai, I think you misread the article, they didnt cut Casillas.

Off topic…The schedule is not too bad when I look at anymore.

With Mankins and Johnson at Guard we should be great. I don’t want any Brown’s linemen after Cousins, who should have been the first cut, for Warhop to make his new pet, even if he played for USF!
