Heat Cranked Up Under Schiano

September 22nd, 2013

Like any Bucs fan, Team Glazer no doubt has concerns about the future.

Team Glazer is not prone to reactionary decisions. They just don’t do that.

However, Team Glazer is known for detailed analysis. And Joe can safely speculate that Team Glazer is squirming on their fancy couches right now.

What do they have in their beloved Bucs? Joe can answer that — a football team that’s getting progressively worse, a team that’s lost eight of nine games and keeps getting outcoached. The leader of that team is Greg Schiano.

Joe’s not calling for Schiano’s head, but the conversation is warranted. That’s what’s deserved after an 0-3 start with a talent-laden team.

Joe’s unsure what Team Glazer’s 2013 win threshold for the guillotine is, but Joe’s confident there is one. In the win-now NFL, what the Bucs are producing now is completely unacceptable.

Dump him now. See if a real coach can coach up freeman.

  2. Raphael Says:

They lose next week and he is Fired …

  3. lightningbuc Says:

“They lose next week and he is Fired”

    he being Freeman?

  4. Raphael Says:

He is in way over his head

  5. Buc Neckid Says:

You can argue that Tony Dungy was the Best Head Coach that the Bucs have ever had and he got fired because of his offense. Schiano should heed that history lesson and make a change on offense at the bye week (Freeman) or he too will be gone.

  6. gobucs193 Says:

Bring in Mike Glennon! and I’m a Freemanite! let the MGM drums roll!!!!!!

  7. BucsQcCity Says:

    Face it schiano is expendable

  8. Rob Says:

10 or more losses insure Schiano and Dominik get fired. Much is Freeman’s fault but Schiano assembled this staff that has lost 8 of 9

  9. Raphael Says:

Lightning ..Freeman is not the problem..

He might get benched to buy Schiano time, but the results will be the same or…worse

  10. BucfaninMi Says:

Freeman is a lost cause. Is Jeff George available? Brett Favre?

  11. JH Says:

Well I’m calling for his head… along with the rest of the coaching staff and throw on Mark the pile while we’re at it. I don’t trust this organization to draft the next “franchise” guy.

  12. Eric Says:

The glazers never do anything reactionary?

    Really?

  13. scubog Says:

Unfortunately I have to say, enough is enough. This is not a team that is in rebuilding mode. This is a team that is built with the likes of 8 former Pro Bowl players. While the defense is showing positive signs, even the great 1999 and 2002 teams could not win scoring 3 points. Many like to blame Freeman and I must say, so far this season he has undoubtedly digressed from leading the 9th ranked attack in 2012. Not sure Glennon is the answer but almost any QB can score 3 points. Bryan and Joel may be getting ready to call Daddy.

  14. tj Says:

If he goes so doea domminick. He can’t escape the heat

  15. Greg Says:

Why is it so hard? Mark Dominick FAILED to put an offense together with more than 2 receivers, No tight end, second strait unproven head coach, Winslow Talib and Blount were our best players but we got rid of them because they weren’t Schiano guys…. they sure look good kicking our ass this year. This team was built to lose from the chalk board. 16 mil and 2 high draft picks for Reevis to replace Talib….don’t see it. Our third and fourth receivers wouldn’t make any other teams roster and neither would our tight ends but lets get rid of Freeman to. Next year well have a new qb a new gm an a new coach. Can anyone save this franchise before it moves to L.A.?

  16. SensibleBuc Says:

As another poster suggested, fire Sullivan so Schiano can get his guy McNulty in there calling plays and bench Freeman for Glennon. If Schiano is on the hot seat, let him go down swinging with his guys in there.

Playoffs are out of the question.

  17. Pete 422 Says:

Raphael is right. Freeman isn’t the problem.

This is looking more like the wrong coaching staff for this offense.

  18. MakaveliTheDon Says:

Let Freeman find success elsewhere. He deserves a fresh start, like Alex Smith in KC.

Schiano needs to go. Sully needs to stem in as the interim and have 100% control of HIS offense. Lets see what he can do with Glennon. Keep the defensive coaching staff.

Sully – Interim HC. Glennon – QB. Shiano – Fired. Sheridan – DC. Freeman – set him free. He doest want to be here. And Tampa doesnt want him here.

  19. Eric Says:

We’re not talented. How many losses before that sinks in?

  20. Theodore Says:

Freeman is not the problem. See those completions in the final minute? QB isn’t that important of a position anyways. Carl Nicks was back today. It was his fault.

  21. MakaveliTheDon Says:

    Schiano preaches everything he’s not:

“Trust” – he doesnt trust his QB, his kicker

“Accountability” – he never takes full responsibility of his losses

“Buccaneer Men” – he’s a Scarlet Knight man…. how in the hell did Tim Wright make this team? And why was that Rutger DT Gibson, that got injured, why was he starting in the game instead of Spence??

Tick Tock Schiano. we all know Freeman’s gonna get run out of town. But our troubles go wayyyyy beyond him, and most of our problems come back to you.

  22. MakaveliTheDon Says:

This team was built to be a playoff contender. But the boat started rocking when Schiano wantd to act cute with his remarks on our QB, which fueled the QB controversy that has reached epic proportions.

What was so different about our explosive offense (including Freeman) last year compared to this year. Same OC. Same o-line coach. PJ Fleck got the fucck out. So he brought in McNulty.

I think that with all the HC talk surrounding Sully, Schiano is setting up McNulty to be his OC of the future. And Sully and our WRs, and in turn Freeman, are suffering for it.

  23. bill Says:

#firemarkdominik No pass rusher, no wr depth, virtually no te

  24. MakaveliTheDon Says:

The Sullivan/Freeman/Fleck combo, produced a Top 5 WR, (VJs best year as a pro), a Top 10 WR in MW, and a rookie 1500yd rusher.

    The Sullivan/Freeman/McNulty combo?? ugh!

Schiano knows that Sully may not be here for long, so he brought in his RUTGERS guy to coach up the WRs, who couldnt hold on to a ball if their lives depended on it.

Schiano wants McNulty to move up into OC, so in the meantime, he’s undermining Sully so we can all call for his release, like were running Free out of town.

Problem is, the players like Sully. And they loved Fleck. And the receivers are doing shtty under McNulty.

And this whole mess comes down to one guy. Shia-0h-no.

  25. john Says:

5-11 and we will never be over a 500 team as long as Dom is the GM

  26. MakaveliTheDon Says:

The Sullivan/Freeman/Fleck combo also produced a 4000 yd passer. left that little tidbit out.

  27. OviedoBucsFan Says:

    BucfaninMi Says:

Freeman is a lost cause. Is Jeff George available? Brett Favre?

    NO…….but Tebow is.

  28. MakaveliTheDon Says:

Dom gave us Martin, MWilliams, VJackson, GMC, AC, Mason Foster, LVD, Dashon Goldson, Darelle Revis, Mark Barron.

    Schiano gave us Glennon.

  29. RCS Says:

People give no credit to Schiano for fixing the Defense. You know the common problem with all the bucs teams? FREEMAN ! Morris was a players coach and Freeman did not progress Sully is a good coach (look at Eli without Sully) and Freeman still sucks ! Coaching improved this game, the execution by the players did not…

Idk what more the coaches could have done.

  30. Couch Fan Says:

Glennon will save our season!! GO BUCS!!

  31. MakaveliTheDon Says:

Schiano gave us Glennon……and a QB controversy.

  32. OviedoBucsFan Says:

Short memories people? Mike Sullivan interviewed for the Bears HC job. Love to know why he did not get it. Impressed he was offered an interview. Word has it if he had gone Schiano would have hired old Rutgers assistant Mcnulty to be OC. Friction between Sullivan and Schiano? Maybe.

  33. MakaveliTheDon Says:

^^^^^lol. this fool up here. Im not even mad at you Couch. youre just a funny mother fuccker.

  34. CalbBucFan Says:

There is no way this is Schiano’s fault. With Morris both offense AND defense was horrible. Now that the defense is better, it is more obvious how bad the offense is. I guess inconsistent is a better description for the offense. They were good in stretches last year.

  35. Couch Fan Says:

    Lol

  36. ctymniak Says:

He needs to be fired on Monday.

  37. Raphael Says:

    Lol

  38. Mike Says:

They fired Morris for this guy schiano great job bucs!!! Everyone wonders why the games are blacked out its cause the fans don’t want to spend there money to watch a team play with no heart. It’s time for some heads to roll and the head coach needs to be the first one to go

  39. NashVegasRyan Says:

    Gruden!

  40. Illuminati Says:

The organization forced Freeman on Schiano. They were heavily invested in Freeman, and I guarantee they made it clear to Schiano that even if Freeman wasn’t exactly the QB he wanted, he was going to have to give Freeman sufficient time before pulling the plug.

Raheem’s team was a bunch of free-range slackers sliding into oblivion. The organization brought Schiano in to tighten things up. He responded by nearly doubling the team’s win total, producing 102 more points on offense than the previous year, and allowing 100 fewer points on defense. He did everything that was expected of him.

Sure, we’re 0-3 this season, there’s been some griping about Schiano’s style, and it’s easy to question some of Schiano’s game-day decisions. But he has patiently waited for Freeman to prove himself, and that simply has not happened. I think we have crossed the line where the organization will now let Schiano pull the plug on Freeman.

I will be shocked if Freeman starts next week. Maybe Glennon isn’t entirely ready, and maybe (no, definitely) he will make a lot of rookie mistakes. But he gives us at least as much chance of salvaging the season as Freeman does. If Schiano continues to start Freeman, he’s basically greasing his own rails out of town.

The organization should give Schiano at least the rest of the season with Glennon. He will make a lot of the same mistakes that Freeman does, but Glennon can do a lot of things right that Freeman simply hasn’t been able to do. Glennon will likely be able to make up for his bad decisions with overall better play. If Glennon shows upside and development and gets the offense back on track, there’s no reason Schiano shouldn’t get another year.

  41. underdogs Says:

Schiano is clearly out of his league. Sullivan is not at all impressive. Dominick has brought in good defensive players. I am not a big fan of Dave Wannstedt, but he has been a head coach….just sayin…

  42. underdogs Says:

I would love to see Gruden too!

  43. MakaveliTheDon Says:

Its gonna take the rest of whats going to be a slow, ugly season for you guys to realize where the real problem lies.

BUT, its only gonna take the players one more pathetic loss to figure it out.

And the Glazers already know where the real problem lies. They’re just concerned right now about how to get rid of “the problem” while still giving the fans optimism so that they keep buying tickets and merchandise.

  44. MakaveliTheDon Says:

    Gruden!!!

  45. Al Says:

Buh bye Freeman. You suck and continue proving it. Go play in the CFL!!

  46. SacBucs Says:

    Gruden

  47. M Says:

Well, I can seriously say that 0 – 16 is a real possibility. Then clean house. There is no easy answer but maybe bring in Kevin Sumlin, Jay Gruden or heck even see if Jon Gruden wants to come back.

  48. Rob Says:

Just a thought. Josh is what he is. I’m not sure anyone or any system is going to make him into more than an above average QB on his best day. What’s bothering me more now is the defense.

In my opinion, this defense performed well in the first two games despite Bill Sheridan, not because of him.

Example 1: Did we not know that Tom Brady was going to go up-tempo? How many times did NE snap the ball and our defense wasn’t even set? QUite a few by my count.

Example 2: Darrelle Revis has shown he is healthy. Even if he’s only 85%, it’s hard to argue that he is one of the top 3 lock down corners in football. With this in mind, why are we having him play almost exclusively zone. $1 million per game to take away the flat on one side of the field.

Example 3: On the Colston play why wasn’t he on Colston or Graham to remove that option from Brees’ arsenal?

Look…this looks remarkable simiilar to the NY Giants when he was DC the year before they won the Super Bowl. Strahan, Tuck, Osi, good LB’s and deccent DB’s ….and they damned near had a mutiny playing for this guy because he had no idea how to utilize his talent. Osi wasn’t even considered an option here because of Sheridan. Coughlin had the sense to get rid of him. I doubt Schiano will.

  49. Rob Says:

Sorry…hard to argue Revis is NOT a top 3 corner…
