Revis Looks Ready

August 28th, 2013

Darrelle Revis sat at his locker after practice today pretty much like every other Buccaneer, not counting his team-savior aura.

No ice on his knee. No knee brace. No sign of looking like a guy coming off a major injury.

While today was a walk-through practice, Revis, unlike other Buccaneers, had grass stains on his butt and he was unlacing a very sweet pair of white Nike cleats that are not permitted to be worn in games.

Joe chatted solo with Revis, and Joe walked away with an overwhelming feeling that Revis has no doubt he’ll be 100 percent on opening day at the Meadowlands. The more Joe gets to know Revis, the more Joe is sold on how Revis’ intensity and intelligence is anything but typical.

As Revis has referenced previously, he sat out an entire training camp with the Jets and had himself ready to dominate on opening day.

What did Joe just write here? Not much, but Joe felt compelled to share his excitement about what Revis might look like when he takes the field.

That’s what is so great about this site. You write with perspective but yet you are still a fan first and foremost.

Can’t wait to see this guy score some TD’s

  2. Couch Fan Says:

Well done Joe. I have been wondering why all the Revis talk has been so quiet lately. And not once have I heard anyone ask Schiano how Revis has been looking now that he’s full go in practice. Lol,

This may be the best post yet! The bucs defense will depend on Revis and his success. I know we need a pass rush and that there are 10 other guys out there but watching him in the past he makes a complete difference. More turnovers will be seen which means more opportunities for the offense.

Joe, earlier in “the sky is falling” preseason story, I mentioned that one intangible is the abundance of real pro’s on this roster. It will make a huge difference come September.
Glad you passed this piece along.

If you can name a Buccaneer DB that has the experienc/reputation/talent or swagger that Revis has….it would be a stretch….
Lynch…not bad at all but he was playing with Sapp & Brooks
Richard “Batman Woods”…pretty exciting in his day but falls a bit short.

Revis will bring something very special to our team and the impact will be felt right away!!!

  8. Keith Says:

    Thanks for the Hope, Joe.

You told us exactly what we would like to see for ourselves, you looked the man in the eye and got a first impression of his health and disposition. Thanks for the insight!

Richard Wood (not Woods) was a linebacker.
