The Wake Of Logan Mankins Trade

August 27th, 2014

?????????????????????????

Man, Joe cannot tell you just how crazy the last couple of days at One Buc Palace were.

From an unbelievably, head-scratching, morgue-like pall over the place with news sleazy Richie Incognito was visiting for cookies and tea, to the bombshell that the Bucs traded for All-Pro guard Logan Mankins, wow. The place went from a funeral parlor to a dizzying Fourth of July celebration in roughly 28 hours.

Naturally, TBO.com’s Olivia Stacey was there and she captured the reaction from key Bucs figures in the minutes after the trade was announced in this TBO.com video.

    I’m just amused by the drama queen histrionics from certain folks over the past several weeks and days, while the team worked behind the scenes to get the trade they wanted done. No leaks to the media, no drama for your mama.

  2. Owlykat Says:

    Apparently Lovie finally realized all the bull Warhop was feeding him on keeping his pet, Cousins, was ridiculous! Lovie should have already cut Cousins and censured Warhop for his deception. Anyway, he turned to Licht to fix it and, boy, did he come through! We will be just fine now, especially with Licht’s pickup of Johnson for the other Guard position! Lovie should have brought back Daniels as his flexible Center/Guard backup and not bit on bringing in another Brown’s pet for Warhop to waste his efforts trying to develop.

  3. Jim Says:

    Bring in Richie and let Logan keep him in check!

  4. ruggyup Says:

    Perhaps totally out of touch with the real world, I still think it’s a waste of time to bother cranking out all the hyperbole about this or that guy, coach, team, blogger, etc. Please tell me, have we played our first game yet? What’s the score?

  5. Carls Toe Says:

    New Buc Jeremiah Warren said Cousins taught him everything he knows. Said Warhop taught Cousins.

  6. mpmalloy Says:

    Free Richie!

  7. biff barker Says:

    Warhop is nobodies fool. His job depends on having serviceable talent.

    An, “unbelievably, head-scratching, morgue-like pall over the place”?

    I am so disappointed in the likes of JoeBuc, Martin Fennally and several other major Sports Writers here in the Tampa Bay area who obviously are allowing their far left extremist “Politically Correct” motivated views to influence fair and balanced coverage of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers!

    STOP IT!

    If you have news or a report of a current Buccaneer who is opposed to Incognito joining the Bucs, then report in it, but stop with the hate filled diatribe against Incognito because of your Politically Correct viewpoints!

    As a side note, Jay Glazer, David Zirin, Phil Simms, Boomer Esiason and a host of other reputable journalists have all supported and encouraged NFL Teams to allow Incognito back into the fold….As have Roger Goodall and Greg Aiello.

  9. Jason Says:

    @KeithinTampa

    that’s the beauty of writers like Joe, Martin Fennally, and other sports writers… they’re paid to give their opinions along with Buccaneer facts. Having said that, all the issues with Incognito aren’t made up or fallacious, the incidents occurred and are factual. Drawing a conclusion from those facts isn’t solely the province of those men, and in fact they would only be doing part of their job if they didn’t.

  10. RealityCheck Says:

    LOL @ Keith…you know how I know you watch FOX news? You used “far left extremist” and “fair and balanced” in the same sentence. Ya the coverage is totally motivated by the need to be politically correct or it could just be that people don’t want a locker room cancer on the team and don’t think his talent is worth the headache. Really not that hard to understand either side of the issue.

  11. whocares92 Says:

    @Keith
    Read the report before commenting on a media agenda to promote PC. The guy said some truly sick stuff and his behavior was appalling.

  12. Orca Says:

    @Keith,

    To accuse Joe of political correctness is beyond stupid. Not wanting that turd Incognito on the team is not about being PC — it’s about not wanting a locker room cancer. The dude is a serious piece of excrement. You have no phucking clue what “far left extremist” means. Turn off the FauxNooz and turn on your brain for a moment.

    Good Afternoon Guys!

    I’ve read, reviewed, (I’d go so far to say I’ve even “studied”!), and seen the tweets, (as well as the apologies!) that Incognito purportedly committed.

    I’ve also seen the stories about the Dolphins staff asking Incognito to “motivate” Martin”; and the stories about Martin’s potential mental “immaturity/bi-polar disorder”….I’ve even read the NFL Commissioned “Independent Investigative Report” surrounding this scandal.

    I note that Martin, Pouncey, and (John) Jerry, all major players in this purported scandal are all rostered on NFL Teams playing football for 2014; but because of the Politically motivated “Anti-Bullying” movement, which has been driven by media pundits, (normally from those with liberal viewpoints!) Incognito has been singled out as the arch villain in this melodrama; portrayed as the sick bully picking on the weaker defenseless 6’5″ 312# Jonathan Martin!

    There’s no crying in football guys!

    If any of you have ever played organized sports, there are things that go on in locker rooms that aren’t made for TV! Some folks say some nasty words! There are unique motivational methods!

    Richie Incognito may very well be a total jerk….A real ass…..I don’t know. I do know that he doesn’t need a politically motivated smear campaign from politically biased journalists who may, or may not even know the whole story! To portray the Bucs organizationn and there being a “morgue like pall” over the locker room, suggesting that Bucs players and staff are opposed to Incognito playing in Tampa is unfair, biased, and yes, politically motivated!

  14. Brandon Says:

    Well stated Keith. Incognito may very well be a giant ass. But he isn’t a murderer or a rapist or a drug king pin… and yet these people are given second chances at the NFL. Just like Jerry and Pouncey have paid no punishment, people doing far worse than bullying another grown ass man, have careers in the NFL.

  15. mcBuc Says:

    Calling Joe liberal shows you are new to the site. All PC BS as side, why do you think a talented guard has been on so many teams? Why would all those teams send him away?
