Jameis Winston Is A Fan Of Baker Mayfield

April 4th, 2024

Likes watching Baker Mayfield.

A former Bucs quarterback has the current Bucs quarterback’s back.

Former Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston appeared on the comedian Theo Von’s podcast “This Past Weekend” and, unfortunately, very little football was discussed. What did come up was current Mayfield. It seems Jameis and Von are big fans.

Jameis let it slip that he grew up an Oklahoma fan. He started following Oklahoma when they played Florida State for the 2000 national championship, which Oklahoma won.

Jameis explained his dad is a diehard Florida State fan and that he couldn’t pull for his dad’s team, thus, it was Oklahoma.

“That’s why I like Baker,” Jameis said.

Von called Mayfield a “dawg,” which prompted Jameis to explain briefly why he likes Mayfield and his story of perseverance.

“He is a beast, man,” Jameis said. “There are so many stories like that, man. So many stories. You hear about people pushing through. You will come out on the other side.”

Von added, “If you don’t support Baker, I don’t understand where you are at.”

Jameis may be long gone from the Bucs, but at least Mayfield can find solace in the fact that Jameis is behind him.

    Joe stirring the pot.

    LOL!

  2. Proudbucsfan Says:

    IMHO Jameis is a weirdo.

  3. Simeon4HOF Says:

Jameis looks like he just saw our Edge signing in that pic. Or how he looks when he currently sees Hainsey as the starting C on our depth chart. He and Watson are quite the pair in Cleveland.

  4. DoooshLaRue Says:

Ah yes, the coveted JayMiss endorsement.

Baker must be bursting with confidence now……..or laughter.

  5. Drunkinybor Says:

Do you remember when he first went to the Aints and they acted like he desperately needed glasses and made it sound like Bucs doctors were incompetent. Here the upper echelon Aints doctors laugh haha at our measly doctors. In mear hours they diagnosed JayMISS as having a Dire need for head gear and that’s why he threw so many picks.

  6. Hammerhead Says:

Still need a taller QB to look over the taller O Lineman.

  7. Rover Says:

Gotta be the first time you wrote about this guy without calling him America’s Quarterback (which he never was). Sometimes progress is slow but progress nonetheless. Good for you. Go Bucs!

  8. heyjude Says:

Love the pic of Jameis with his eyes closed. I see a parady there.

Jameis seemed to do well in the interview. Baker is a beast. That is for sure.

  9. Marky Mark Says:

Rod you should be inspired by this story. Hating on Baker is so passe.

  10. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

Dang. Jamiss and i do have something in common. We’re both mayfield fans!

  11. Marky Mark Says:

Not sure what it means from a zen perspective but the two have traded places. Of course that is an Eddy Murphy reference. We will see how it plays out but the Browns seriously over paid for the two sex offenders.

  12. heyjude Says:

Agree Marky Mark. The NFL rewarding bad behavior is a slap in the face for we women.

  13. Boss Says:

    I been sayin it…..I been sayin it….

    But crabman himself?

    Damn

  14. Lt. Dan Says:

D@mn…Jaymiss looks ‘hard of seeing” No wonder he threw all those picks!

  15. Conner50 Says:

Who tf cares about what crab boy thinks, he’s trash and was miserable to watch for five years.

  16. Tbbucs3 Says:

If it wasnt for Baker Mayfield, Kyle Trask would be exposed as a cruddy QB and facing Matt Corral in the UFL this weekend

  17. Rick Says:

Drunkinybor, you can’t get Lasik surgery until you turn 25. That is why he waited to do it.

  18. Rick Says:

The animosity Tampa Bay has for this guy is incredible. I see why he fell in love with New Orleans. The city appreciated him.

Joes, your inability to properly moderate the comment section will be your downfall.

You have a good product, but it’s unsustainable when folks try to support you by commenting, yet can’t comment; and for no good, discernable reason.

    Unprofessional & unappealing.

Not going to waste any more time.

    Adios

I’m now a Winston fan. I also like the quote, “If you’re not a Baker a fan…” I know the answer to that! You’re either a diehard Trask fan or Colin Cowherd.

  21. Buccaneer rick Says:

Mtnbucman@ I agree the fans on this thing are outrageous

  22. Jerimy Hunter Says:

Some of yall are the weirdos. Celebrating players who didn’t give their all or quit on the team but bash non stop someone who came in from day 1 and gave everything they had to the team and community

He may not have been the best but he was far from the worst

  23. Oneilbuc Says:

Shane. that’s not true I’m not a fan of any player in the NFL. It’s only one player that plays football I’m a fan of and that’s my son who plays high school football. Just because someone tells the truth about a player that doesn’t mean they hate them . And as far as Trask goes and what was reported about the fake competition Trask was better and that’s a fact and that’s not being a Trask fan it’s just the truth. Now Baker and the rest of the mediocre quarterbacks will look like elite quarterbacks because of the rules against the defense. We are one rule away from flag football. Defense with suck across the league this year because of the new rule.

  24. stpetebucfan Says:

Jameis still the polarizing dude to this day eh? I think JW would be a great guy to go out and party with…he’s an amiable, pleasant guy who laughs and smiles a lot. I would NEVER wish to be in a foxhole with him in a combat zone!!!

“but bash non stop someone who came in from day 1 and gave everything they had to the team and community”

Day One – He came in with a rape allegation and several proven incidents of immature behavior in college. The Bucs took what at the time was a MASSIVE chance, not on his talent but on his reputation for effing up.

So the Bucs take the chance and how are they rewarded…very first off season their #1 player…face of the franchise…goes out with a CONVICTED RAPEST…another bad dude…gets blind drunk (His words) and gropes an Uber driver AFTER suriving the rape allegations.

The Bucs had to literally remove his picture from the side of RayJay!!!

That’s what his “all” was that he brought to the community?

  25. Oneilbuc Says:

The bucs did a horrible job on building around Jamies and we all know it. All this love Jason Light get is crazy to me. Yes he went out and bought a super bowl with Brady,AB , Gronk and Fournett. Even Brady knew he wouldn’t win that team Jamies had and that’s why they added those players. Jason Licht miss on the entire 2016 draft which was Jamies second year in the NFL and they still managed to win 9 games. Plus at the time Jamies was the quarterback the NFC South was probably the best division in football. They had 2 teams that played in the super bowl back to back. Not to mention with Jamies at quarterback we were top 5 every year in offense and that’s with no running game and a trash defense and with bad coaching. But for some reason most of y’all never cared about the running game until Brady and Baker came to the team. Even BA had to change his play book because Brady had 12 picks and that high risk offense. That’s why I don’t bash Jamies the way some of y’all because he gave it every thing he got to this team and we were trash on defense and we couldn’t run the ball. But now what’s funny is every time Brady or Baker plays bad it’s because of the running game !! Lol 🤣

  26. larrd Says:

Baker v. Jameis in the Super Bowl would be sweet, IMO. The Browns were smart to pick up Old Crablegs at this juncture. Better than Flacco.
