BSPN Hosed Michael Bennett

October 4th, 2011

One reason Joe loathes BSPN was on display Monday night.

There was Michael Bennett notching two sacks and a forced fumble (perhaps even a half-sack late in the game), but the Monday Night Football crew had little interesting in talking up Bennett or giving any legitimate background on the guy. Not even a sideline shot.

If that’s Dwight Freeney with a night like that, it’s a lovefest of epic proportions. Hell, they were sucking up Freeney out of the gate for a spin move that ended with Donald Penn shepherding him harmlessly away from Josh Freeman.

Yet part of the BSPN buildup of the game was acknowledging that the game was a meet-the-nation event for the Bucs. But at the end of the day there was little interest in introducing the Buccaneer not named Blount that had the biggest impact on the stat sheet.

It just didn’t fit the script.

im still shocked the pass from the picture was completed…

i think he threw that in self defense not out of clear mindedness in the face of danger

This should not come as a suprise to anybody. It was another agenda driven broadcast by ESPN, and most of it was a pity party for the poor old Colts. I don’t know if they could have shown anymore head shots of Freeny and Mathis, and of course plenty of shots of Manning up in his box. What a joke, as usual.

Joe, I have to say I completely disagreed with your bashing of Manning leading up to this game. I think he is one of the best of all time and he deserves all the praise he gets. However, I swear if the cut to one more shot of Manning in the press box I was going to have a seizure. He claps, cut to Manning. He shakes his head, cut to Manning. I guess he was farting on some of the shots, because I didn’t see anything worthwhile. BSPN did more talking about Manning and all the Colts injuries than they did about the Bucs that were out there making plays (like Bennett). I’m sorry, I don’t feel sorry for a team that wins at least 12 games every year for having some injury problems. Boo frickin hoo.

Mathis and Freeney are all that the Colts have to talk about.

And Really, how many shots do we need of Manning in the Pressbox?

COMEON Joe….even your NFL netwrok does us dirty. Front page of NFL.com has the Cowboys and Eagles with a story. PLUS, the highlights of the bucs game includes this gem “ANd there is Freeney and Mathis…disrupting the backfield becuase that is what they do, all night”. Well, they didnt do it last nigth so I’m not sure what they were seeing at the NFL network.
