Bauer Sharp Expected To See Increase In Offensive Snaps

November 6th, 2026

Earned more snaps.

One of the many fun things about watching the Bucs alley-beat the Dixie Chicks on Sunday was that the Bucs may have discovered a new secret weapon.

Backup tight end Bauer Sharp never had a target. But he did log 19 snaps on offense. And it’s a good bet that on most of those, Sharp jacked someone up on Atlanta.

Joe can’t remember the last time seeing a tight end have the game that Sharp had. On just about every play Sharp blasted someone. Pancaked them. Just lit up their world.

On a few hits, Joe guesses, dudes got up looking for the truck that just blasted them.

Oh, Bucs offensive coordinator Zac Robinson noticed, too. How could you not?

Robinson was so impressed in what Sharp did last Sunday, and what he had done prior, that Robinson all but promised Sharp will be more invovled in the Bucs’ offense.

“You would never know he was a former quarterback, probably the toughest former QB I’ve been around,” Robinson said. “He’s done a great job. He’s really smart, really intentional, has that level of physicality.

“He just keeps getting better, and he’s into it. He loves it. He’s done a great job. We’ll continue to expand his role because he is talented in the pass game as well. He can run and catch it really well.”

Sharp was one of those guys in training camp who seemed to make a play every practice. He was active and flashed often.

With a tight end who can block like Sharp, that sure opens up the playbook.

    I called it.
    This Kid has major upside
Expect him to be our Starter. Meybe by start of next season

Run that play again against the Bears.

Later in the game around midfield, start with that same play and then:
    – have Godwin split the two defenders and slant inside
    – have Sharp just blast straight through as he chips the Edge Rusher and turns straight up field at the numbers
    – have Otton try to pancake pancake the chipped Edge Rusher
    – have Baker fake the handoff and roll right
    – have the RB take the exact same path as in the play above

There is a good chance that Sharp will be all alone and Baker throws to Sharp.

If Otton misses his block, Baker throws it over the RB’s head out of bounds.

If Otton has a solid block, Baker follows the RB with the option to throw it to the the RB if the RB is open, run it if the defenders close on the RB and leave running room for Baker, or just throw it out of bound if there is no place to run and the receivers are covered.

Passing from plays that look and start just like run plays that you have used will sometimes create big completions and creates uncertainty for the defense which leads to hesitation.

Great draft class JL, really awesome. It makes those who want JL fired look so incredibly stupid.

Bain, Trotter, Hurst Scott and Sharp all starting or greatly contributing. That is a hell of a draft.

No need to wait u til next year to start Sharpe, start em NOW! The kid can play. He’s hungry, violent, hostile, aggressive and a get in ur face true grit type player. I’m willing to bet he was motivated by ARobinson n fed off his intensity. Otton n Durham are both passive players, our history is we continue to pigeon hole mediocre n passive players i.e., OJ Howard, JTS, Braswell, Logan Hall, all are lackadaisical players. This Sharpe kid is a player to be reckoned with. Give him more pass plays to bring out the total package in him. He was a former qb so use those skills also. Great coaches will do that.

The pancake block on the ATL linebacker was awesome!

  6. JimBobBuc Says:

That was not only a pancake, it was a de-cleating! Sharp has the speed to burn defenses on deep seam routes too.

It’s time for Keionte Scott and DeMonte Capehart to start making some big plays. Nothing like a national game for these guys to breakout too.

  7. Beeej Says:

That poor man had a FAMILY!

  8. adam from ny Says:

if we are truly becoming the team we seem to be growing into…

we are going to need a handful of guys to clearly be leveling up for real…

    that includes dudes like:

bauer sharp (keep de-cleating & eating)
ted hurst (can ya cradle one in bro…?)
jacob parrish (i wanna be able to call him elite) 🙂
the eggman (no flop…as portnoy might say)
    trotter (more splash plays)
    bain (register some sacks man!)

no hitting the rookie wall…just getting better for the rooks on the list

  9. PSL Bob Says:

Woah! Then he just sits on top of him. That dude had to be embarassed.

  10. Stpetematt Says:

This is exactly what I mean when I say defensive teams are a little light in the shorts trying to use speed to rush the passer. Case in point and another reason why I think our new offensive model can work the vast majority of the time. Just pass only when needed.

  11. Lou. Says:

Question on Sharp (and Hurst and Egbuka and Tez) is hands. The blocking highlights were great entertainment last week. TBF Gronk was a monster blocker, more than holding his own against large Edges. But it was his receiving skills that made Gronk HoF. Who on the Bucs can latch onto the ball?

  12. ProffeserVonBrainStorm Says:

Better hope there’s a monsoon in Chicago and Williams throws 4 interceptions.

I’m sure Todd will unleash his mastermind strategy against a very poorly coached Bears team.

Chicago will shoot themselves in the foot over and over because that’s what bad teams do vs the Bucs.

The game is already over and the Bucs have won 35-0 with 500 yards rushing.

  13. OurYear Says:

@JimBob…. You realize Capehart hasn’t even been active one game this year right? Hard to make plays in street clothes.

  14. OurYear Says:

Bauer had a great blocking game. Why do people have to rip on other TEs ? Amazed people still don’t value Otton. anybody watch as z-Robs comments on Otton and Durhams blocking in his presser? The Carolina game Otton dominated people. The Dallas game Durham dominated people. not sure why we fans have to pick either/or. Lack of football knowledge I think. And no, we won’t demote Cade. Not at $10M a year.

  15. OurYear Says:

Remember when Joe pined for Kenyon Sadiq to be our 1st round pick? Lol. Wrote 3 articles a week on it.

  16. Steven007 Says:

Hey look, the professor made a sarcasm! Nice try and good effort. E for effort.

  17. Will Powers Says:

Drafting a motivated guy with the physical tools who loves football?? What a concept!

  18. passabuc Says:

Not going to run for 200 yards against Chicago,

Throw Sharp the ball, he looked good on that 21 yard completion couple weeks ago,

Couldn’t be any worse than our current group of wide outs who either can’t get open or drop the ball

More of Sharp as a receiver please!
