Bucky Irving: “I Was In A Dark Space, Dark Headspace”

Bucky Irving’s stunning first half of this season following offseason shoulder surgery and mental health issues last year has been downright stunning.
Yeah, Irving had more issues than just struggling dealing with the first injury of his career in 2025.
“Being able to know the things I went through last year, the season I was in, I was in a dark space, dark headspace,” Irving told Stephen A. Smith on SiriusXM Mad Dog Sports Radio yesterday.
Irving said faith has guided him to a better place.
“But being able to know that God got a plan for you, and being able to follow his plan, it’s amazing. So, right now I’m just in a phase where I’m locked in, man,” Irving said. “I don’t really think about too much.”
Irving sure is locked in. His 728 yards rushing rank fourth in the NFL. And he’s averaging five yards per carry.
Asked if the Bucs are feeling good about winning three of their last four games and getting back into division contention, “Ain’t no room to be comfortable,” Irving said.

I get it. Having to watch most of the team get injured as well seeing the losing streak, and not being able to help the team…

I just burped, then let out a major fart. Indicative really of the level of indifference I have over some 94 iq kid talking about being in a “dark place” over not being about to play football while making 500k or whatever hes making. Gen z’ers and alphas are easy to make fun of, BUT salaries for most jobs have remained the same for decades while houses that used to be 244k are now 550k. Anyone having kids now will be stuck with their kid until they’re freaking 30 because they will never be able to move out on their own. Economic divide at an all time high. But sure Bucky, ill pour out a little liquor for you bro and say a little prayer before I go to bed

Across the globe today, either through disease, accident or even murder, children will perish today. Their parents will suffer an unimaginable loss.
From near and afar, the good among us will feel empathy and offer condolences.
This makes sense … sort of.
If those events are part of the same “plan” that grants success to people who play games for money, like football, then I must be a metaphysical fool.
Because those types of “plans” have never made sense to me.
Bucky, I’m glad you emerged from your “dark place,” but I’m guessing you had more to do with it than you think. Seems to me, your plan maker is needed elsewhere for matters of more importance.

After being hurt last year, when he came back he wasn’t running with patience and forcing his runs. This year, especially against ATL, he’s running with more patience and having faith in his reads.
