Bucky Irving On Pace For 1,380 Yards Rushing

October 9th, 2026

After five games, including a breakout performance last night in Dallas, Bucs running back Bucky Irving is having a special season.

Irving ran 21 times for 165 yards and a touchdown on Thursday night. That bumped him to 406 rushing yards this season. That puts Irving on pace for 1,380 yards rushing over 17 games, about 250 yards more than he had in his special 2024 rookie year.

That’s All-Pro territory.

Last night’electricity was the best game of Bucky’s career and included his first-ever game with a TD catch and a TD run. Irving did it all.Β In fact, he took his first carry inside the opponent’s 5 yard line since 2024. It was the fourth 100-plus yard performace of his career.

Joe loves how Bucky now has 10 days rest and a mountain of confidence before the Bucs face Pittsburgh on Sunday, Oct. 18.

Really nice to have Bucky back playing at his 2024 level. If he can keep the injuries at Bay he’ll be golden. And hopefully the other stuff doesn’t crop up again either. At his best. He’s easily a top 10 back.

Now, can the Bucs come up with something more imaginative than up the gut on fourth and 1?

And, if they are going to try to go up the gut, maybe use Otton as have a lead blocker at the point of attack instead of as a decoy?

With about 9 minutes left to play, the Bucs defense had been on the field maybe 16 minutes with the Bucs looking to cap an 8 minute drive on 4th and goal from the 1.

Isn’t that the kind of situation where you bring in a relatively fresh Vea as a lead blocker/receiver or distraction to ice the game?

Maybe you would like to save that play for a more critical time. But, when you have started 0-4, it seems pretty optimistic, hubris even, to think that you are going to have a more critical time. πŸ™‚

Up the gut was a great call cuz jerry said they were thinking bucs were going to to the outside not the inside. Good call not sure which coach came up with it since they are all worthless ( coaches that is ) lol

Bucky is proof that you don’t need a massive offensive line when your running back treats tackling attempts as unsolicited suggestions.

It was a great run. Great tenacity by Bredeson and great cuts by Bucky.

He did not get all those runs by himself. Great job by the O-line.

But guys, please stop with all the stupid penalties.
