“The Buccaneers Miss Rachaad White”
October 1st, 2026
Former Buccaneers running back Rachaad White, Tampa Bay’s 2022 third-round draft pick, was a versatile and quality player for the Bucs the past two seasons.
He also was unhappy with his usage and treatment last season.
White didn’t think the Bucs kept it real with him. Todd Bowles and former coordinator Josh Grizzard said he would go with the hot hand last year at running back, but White was thriving and didn’t think the Bucs honored their word.
After the season, White opened up.
“… And I ain’t never been the guy who cause a problem. I always wanted someone else playing the backfield with me. But if we gonna say we gonna do the hot hand thing, and a guy got the hot hand, you know, then let’s just be a man of our word and be real about it. But if that’s not what we’re doing, then I’m professional, I’m man enough to understand.”
White averaged 4.3 yards per carry last season and had 4 rushing touchdowns. He was always known as a reliable receiver and a strong pass blocker. Bucky Irving averaged 3.4 yards per carry and 1 TD. Despite significant injuries and mental health challenges, Irving got more work than White.
Former Bucs guard Ian Beckles (1990-1996) thinks White has been a major loss, especially in Sunday’s loss where pass blocking was a major issue against Minnesota.
“The Buccaneers miss Rachaad White,” Beckles said on his podcast. “I’m going to tell you right now, whether it’s Bucky, I’ve seen receivers back there, they ain’t blocking worth a sh*t. And they’re not helping, and Rachaad White was that guy to do grimy things. And we don’t have nobody doing grimy stuff no more.”
Beckles went on to throw darts at the Bucs’ offensive line play Sunday, and the Bucs and Vikings offenses overall.
“There was a lot of instant breakdowns [on the O-line,] Beckles said “… Some really, really, really bad offensive line play. I mean really, really, really bad. …
“If you’re an offensive person, I’m sure you were throwing up in your mouth…. I don’t think I’ve seen a more inept offensive game.”
Interesting to Joe was was Beckles throwing darts at Todd Bowels. Rarely does Beckles toss blame at a head coach, and certainly he hasn’t been that guy with Bowles.
Beckles was somewhat aghast that Bowles told media after the game that the Bucs are just a game out of first place.
“That’s something you may want to say to your prayers, but for God sakes, don’t say it to the press,” Beckles said. “As a Buc fan or somebody in the media, we don’t want to hear that sh*t. We just don’t want to hear it. We want to know why we suck.
“We’re a soft football team,” Beckles continued. “It doesn’t seem like our head coach is being accountable. … It’s time to hit the panic button.
“Todd Bowles is dead man walking.”

October 1st, 2026 at 12:19 pm
Beck is spot on!!!!!…100%
soft poorly coached football team that lacks fire or a sense of urgency…
we lose Sunday, Glazers need to can Todd and Zac…promote Danny Smith as HC..
GO BUCS!!!!!
October 1st, 2026 at 12:20 pm
I can stomach the losses as long as we get a very high draft pick and a new coach. Prefer Jeremiah Smith WR Ohio State.
October 1st, 2026 at 12:21 pm
Ian Beckles … “Todd Bowles is dead man walking.”
Another nice bottom line Joe. You’re on fire. And BTW, I miss Rachaad too.
October 1st, 2026 at 12:31 pm
If you go back and look at the 2023 Rachaad White with Dave Canales
Rachaad White was a top all-around RB in the NFL
But, as soon as they drafted Bucky Irving in 2023
Rachaad White found himself on the outside looking in
Bucky isn’t half the RB Rachaad was with Tampa
He can never be the blocking back Rachaad is
Then they put the icing on the cake, gave Gainwell $14 million
This is just a backwards thinking franchise

White is ancient history. We got Jalon Daniels. Anyone picking him up in fantasy this week?
October 1st, 2026 at 12:38 pm
2-10 over the last 12 games is too large of a sample size to ignore.
Bucs needs a complete overhaul. From the Front office to the coaching staff, to getting rid of the over paid players they gotta BLOW THIS UP
October 1st, 2026 at 12:39 pm
Buccaneers miss Liam Coen !
October 1st, 2026 at 12:39 pm
Bucky was drafted in 2024. Both about the same as far as receiving, but yeah, Rashad is definitely a better pass blocker. Bucky is by far the better runner if healthy. Not 2025. Now should get a bigger back like 225 to 240 pounds for pass blocking and short yardage.
October 1st, 2026 at 12:40 pm
I can’t believe how badly this franchise has fumbled this offseason.
None of their moves make sense. I still can’t believe TB is employed. Why would you sign all the extensions with him on the hot seat. What decent coach is going to want to come here now? O and D lines are a mess and the QB plays way beyond his abilities. Trying for another lost decade? They’ve sure lost the fans.
I’d rather White than Kenny G, another great decision.
October 1st, 2026 at 12:42 pm
Don’t think the record is any better if White is here. His point about being lied to is legit, but his mind was already halfway out the door by midseason too. The fact that he ended up with the deal he signed is pretty indicative of his reputation around the league, though he didn’t help himself or his agent with his “Washington or bust” proclamation either.
October 1st, 2026 at 12:42 pm
another ex buc taking shots at the bucs , to the bowles supporters open your eyes its not personal towards bowles he isnt doing the job we just saw it way before you . And to the baker bashers listen to people who know ball . Fans who support baker are open minded enough to know he isnt a top qb but have seen hes good enough to lead the team . An ex offensive line man who played for the bucs is calling the protection inept . Even brady in his last year with bowles looked like crap and he had evans. plus the team has an over the hill godwin and inexperienced wide receivers, bad tight ends , and rbs who cant block but many of you are to narrow minded to see it.
October 1st, 2026 at 12:43 pm
We miss Arians!
Todd is just collecting paychecks with his son.
No accountability indeed. SMH
October 1st, 2026 at 12:47 pm
I suppose no one remembers Garrett Gilkey? That said, that was the worst offensive line play I’ve seen since 2019, that’s for sure.
October 1st, 2026 at 12:49 pm
No doubt that White was a solid pass blocker and receiver, and I think it’s fair that is missed so far this year. but he wasnt the running threat we were all hoping he’d be or he’d still be here.
October 1st, 2026 at 12:53 pm
There is nothing else left to say about Bowels. Everyone knows he can’t do the job and he must be replaced. The only questions are when do you do it and who replaces him?
Aside from Bowels, there is also Licht and Zac the Hack. While their departure is not as certain as Bowels, it is rapidly trending in that direction. Ther are still some unknowns to consider. As to Licht were the Vea and Mayfield contracts his doing or the Glazers? And Zac, well we are looking at just a 3 game sample. So these two are still just a little bit debate worthy, but not for much longer.
October 1st, 2026 at 1:04 pm
Idk. Maybe Baker doesn’t dance as much, maybe he settles and goes thru progressions, maybe you get a bit more out of RB 1B than you’ve gotten so far. These have been fairly tight games and Baker is playing scared back there…maybe he would feel a bit more comfortable with a trusted and proven protector by his side.
Licht is incapable of taking the pulse of a player, much less the entire team. Midget RBs and an UDFA back up QB. Brilliant
October 1st, 2026 at 1:06 pm
I was wrong on White. Didnt think we would miss him but we do. Though I am surprised how active Bucky is as a receiver of the backfield compared to the usage of Gainwell. Hope Tucker is healthy. He needs carries.
I like Beckles and always like his analysis of his old team. He loves GMC lol

Rashard was and still is one of my favorite NFL players. Even when the line struggles, he’s able to get the tough yards. Bucky can’t
October 1st, 2026 at 1:12 pm
100%, Richard’s best skillet was catching and blocking. His pick ups and understanding the flow of the pass rush was impressive.
October 1st, 2026 at 1:12 pm
Yep, being 1 game out in a trash division isn’t something to beat your chest about, but Bowles also thinks winning the NFC South with a .500 season record is a big flex.
Its a loser mentality that infects a locker room.

Bucs don’t miss a rb wth, what the bucs miss is good coaching we haven’t seen it in a while now.
October 1st, 2026 at 1:24 pm
Never understood letting him (White) go when he cost so little compared to Gainwell and is a good back that excelled on 3rd down. Paying Otton and Gainwell were costly mistakes imo. Those two decisions fall squarely on Licht
October 1st, 2026 at 1:25 pm
the bucs dont miss how bad a running back he was. he had his chance in 2023 and he blew it and cried non stop til he got the boot / walked.
one of the toxic players nobody misses. “character guy blocker 3rd down receiver water boy” those are not the descriptors of a great back.
October 1st, 2026 at 1:37 pm
@ BucsFan252 – They had no choice. HE wanted OUT. Agree on Gainwell… Felt the $7-MIL was shocking when I first heard it on WDAE, while driving down the road on that day. Thought it was DUMB and a WASTE. Never made sense.
October 1st, 2026 at 1:37 pm
Could this Sundaybe the last game for Bowles?
October 1st, 2026 at 1:45 pm
No, don’t be dumb. The team lost their starting QB and didn’t have, at minimum, two starters on defense. Firing the head coach would be even more disastrous to a season that isn’t even halfway done.
Who’s going to be the head coach, Zac Robinson?
Again, don’t be dumb.
October 1st, 2026 at 1:50 pm
For all of you saying that game was the worst offensive line game you’ve seen this year I say you haven’t been paying attention. And let’s to okay devil advocate let’s not all at once pretend that the Vikings Def is not top 3 in sack and pressure rate.
October 1st, 2026 at 1:55 pm
Once again for the 15th time in a week.
The Glazers never fire a coach during the season.
Raheem…..Schiano….and Lovie are examples.
October 1st, 2026 at 1:56 pm
There was little talk about the value of Rachaad’s blocking when he was here. Rachaad plays “football” on every play. I missed him not getting many snaps last year. I believe had he been used properly we would have made the playoffs and won a few more games. Loosing him says a lot about what the Glazers, Bruce, and Jason value in a football player. Guess who else is a blocking machine who when given the chance knocks the hell out of the opponents and has them slam wore them out by the 4 quarter. It’s Ko Kieft. He is also under used and under valued. I believe if asked he would play full back and be that extra lineman we often need in the backfield. He already is that guy when he gets snaps at tight end. The entire braintrust for this organizations offense must removed and replaced by smash mouth offensive minds. When I think of how much we paid Reddick and how much the Redskins are paying Rachaad it makes me want to throw stuff. Loosing Rachaad is a symptom of our our disease. It’s curable.
October 1st, 2026 at 1:59 pm
I’m getting very anxious and worried about My Rays… The Yankees are ON FIRE. I’m going to be a mess all day and night, on this Saturday. Hell, already am and tomorrow is still only Friday! I can tell. It’s almost like a friggin HURRICANE is coming… Cause, I’m like deteriorating, the closer it gets LoL. I really kind of ‘questioned’ Cash’s decision to start Ras during that last 4-game series in the Bronx. Yeah, we needed to clinch, and HE only went out there and NO-HIT ‘Em thru 6, I think it was… But, we still had 6-more games left. I just didn’t want the “Yankees” to SEE HIM one-more time, right before going into the Playoffs… Cause, I KNEW we’d be seeing THEM AGAIN. It’s gonna be a TOUGH ONE. Extremely, TOUGH. It’s total BS that this is NOT the matchup in the ALCS… 7-GAMES with the TWO BEST TEAMS (for the entire season) GOING AT IT. Just pure IGNORANCE by MLB, and when they’ve literally, gotten everything else RIGHT, over the past 4-5 years. I hope to GOD that Ras is on point, and bringing the good stuff… Cause, we’re gonna NEED IT. It’s soooo HUGE to get this win in Game-1 and get things started off right… ESPECIALLY, with it only being just a 5-Game Series. Hopefully, things will be MUCH different this go around, and that WE CAN HIT. Our last two playoffs appearances have been SO AWFUL, at the plate. Shew. And, Thank God that Game-1 is at HOME. Come on, guys! GO RAYS. Let’s Go RAS!!!!
October 1st, 2026 at 2:01 pm
Even Brady would struggle if he had to deal with this offensive line!!!

If they only would use Gainwell like they used White. Gainwell had over 1K scrimmage yards last year and we give him 14M to sit on the bench, SMH.
October 1st, 2026 at 2:15 pm
There were many times you quoted Beckles in here and I’d ask myself “what game was he watching” or “what the heck is he talking about”. This is not one of those times.
October 1st, 2026 at 2:25 pm
White was the perfect back to give you 1 yard on 3rd and 2.
Don’t gaslight me. He ran straight up and down, he had no push. He didn’t know how to get behind his pads.
October 1st, 2026 at 2:30 pm
I said it when we were considering letting White go
He was our most complete and best back by a long shot

That’s literally not true.
Watched the ALL22, Gainwell was literally used like White was used, and the issue is Gainwell isn’t even remotely in the same category as White when it comes to blocking. Gainwell was giving it effort, knew where he was supposed to be, but the Vikings linebackers moved him at ease – where as in the past I’ve noted while watching ALL22 who White could literally block defensive lineman and stand them straight up. No question in my mind that White was the best blocker on the team that isn’t an offensive lineman – much better than Otton, even a bit better than Ko. Heck, I saw White a couple of years ago blocking better than Sucke was at RT, he was saving Baker’s life after Sucke would whiff on a block and White had to pick up DE’s, and did a really good job.
October 1st, 2026 at 2:42 pm
I have been consistently way higher on White than anyone here, been pointing out how great he was a blocker for years, but I don’t think it’s the Bucs fault that White left. That guy is absolutely in love with Jayden Daniels – and I think it’s actually love. The way White slobbered all over him, how much he said he wanted to play with him, how he undercut his own negotiating ability by saying he only wanted to play with Jayden … it’s just odd.
Obviously I wish we had been able to keep White, but his heart led him elsewhere.
October 1st, 2026 at 2:49 pm
I’m really looking forward to that Padres vs Brewers Series… It’s VERY Exciting. And, I LOVE PETCO. Just such a GREAT stadium and atmosphere. Absolutely, Beautiful. Seems-like, it was about the first one, to have it’s very own little community surrounding the stadium. I mean, that entire area of ‘high-rises’ built all around that stadium, are all like brand new, real modern-looking buildings. And, it has absolutely exploded. I think the Rays’ new one, should be very similar, but maybe on a little smaller scale. It’s going to be pretty wild.
October 1st, 2026 at 2:49 pm
Well is guess this is hindsight 20/20 but our head coach is defensive minded and has his hands full coaching up the Bucs defense. Then we hire an offensive coordinator from a losing ball team (Falcons) and expect a great offensive performance?
Heck no if I’m in charge of hiring the Bucs OC I’m saying no, we may interview Robinson but we are not hiring him, not from a losing team. I’m looking for an OC from a great college team with a high scoring offense. I’m looking for a winner !!
Well here we are with SO MUCH offensive talent and there is no cohesiveness to our offense.
Baker is having a hard time making plays because he has no time in the pocket to get set up and throw. He’s having to run like heck to try and make the plays. Now Baker is injured and Jaylon is in …. Let’s hope our OC has finally gotten all components of the Bucs offense together and on the same page.
I hope Coach Bowles is keeping a sharp eye on the offensive practices and has the red pen ready.
Always a Buccaneers Fan
Go Bucs !!

We should have handed Liam the Keys before Jacksonville could.
October 1st, 2026 at 2:58 pm
Our offensive line is good – they’re just poorly coached !! And yes I agree that we miss RW1 for pass protection and hard nose running the football, but isn’t there another RB on the Bucs offense who can block ? Practice squad maybe ?
Always hoping for the best from our Buccaneers and I’ll be thrilled if they can pull out a win against the Packers!!
Go Bucs !!
October 1st, 2026 at 2:58 pm
Chris Long was just on “The Herd” talking about the Bucs FO really botching and screwing up the Coen and Bowles situation… That, you just HAD TO go to Bowles, and say “Hey… Sorry Todd, Liam’s Our Guy Now.” OR, had paid him MORE than the HC.
Lost in that conversation is the Bucs could not just fire Bowles after the playoff game and hire Coen. They’d have to go through the Rooney Rule process with a late start to it — with ZERO guarantee they wouldn’t have been outbid for Coen. That’s a rough gamble after winning 10 games and now, in hindsight, knowing how Coen bailed for money. –Joe
Exactly. And, that decision should had already been MADE even befits the season was over. Like, I said at the time. These people on here, were all screaming “WHATEVER IT TAKES” concerning BAKER MAYFIELD LoL… When, I was saying “WHATEVER IT TAKES” for COEN. 💯
October 1st, 2026 at 2:59 pm
I will reiterate, can Bowles and let Arians come in for the remainder of the year and light a fire under these guys. Caldwell or Foote can call the defense. Atians still on payroll?

Well Tucker is the worst blocker on the team, so no to him.
Williams is a small guy, so I don’t know if he’d do any better.
Generally speaking, learning pass blocking is one of the more difficult tasks for a RB, so they’d need a vet.
BUT, they do have a solution on the team. Use Ko Kieft, he’s a much better blocker than any of the RBs or other TEs we have, and he’s basically an H-back already.
October 1st, 2026 at 3:12 pm
@ Rod – RWhite is just a better player than Gainwell, period. White is a BIG Dude. Strong, too. So, he can take on those D-Linemen and LB’s. He’s SO GOOD in space after the catch. I hated it when Canales kept running him straight up the GUT and right into a fricken BRICK WALL, over and over again. I was mad at RWhite at first, but then realized that was just NOT HIM. Some of it was on HIM, but it just wasn’t his strength and best usage. Coen really seemed to help him with his inside runs tho… He hit the hole a lot harder at the attack, with a purpose, and more precise. He’s a really solid football player all around. Weird dude tho.

Hahahahaha, cripes people have short memories around here.
Maybe he’s not half the pass blocker but that’s about it. Bucky looks great. That kid has vision and cut backs, can make people miss.
When we had good blocking up front to open straight line holes for Rachaad, he was good and averaging 4 – 4.5 like the post says. Other than that, Rachaad had no vision! He was an upright runner who went down easily and shook no one!
Bucky is so much better at running the ball, making people miss than Rachaad ever was.
October 1st, 2026 at 3:30 pm
“Well Tucker is the worst blocker on the team, so no to him.”
Did you see Bucky in pass pro against Minnesota?
Cause if ya did this statement makes even less sense.
“Hahahahaha, cripes people have short memories around here.”
huh?
Rachaad carried his 2024 per touch avg right into 2025 and maintained it, Bucky fell off a cliff both running behind the same terrible OL. White did however, have his worst year as a reciever last year.
Bigger, stronger, and faster/as fast is always better.

You just answered your own question with this one sentence. You people were screaming/demanding that the Bucs pay “whatever it takes,” and on and on, while always constantly defending HIM at all cost, no matter WHAT… While, NEVER blaming him for ANY FREAKING THING. Only excuse after EXCUSE, and it was always, someone else’s fault… NEVER Baker’s. But, none of these people EVER cared about the BUCS future, or anything else, just as long as BAKER got what HE WANTED… “WHATEVER IT TAKES” and LONGTERM. When, as you just said yourself, that HE IS NOT A TOP QUARTERBACK. He wasn’t worth-it. NO ONE ELSE, would have given anything near that, and the Bucs DID even when they didn’t have to. He was already currently, UNDER CONTRACT. There was absolutely NO REASON whatsoever, to extend HIM. Especially LONGTERM, and at THAT amount of $$$$$. It was Absurd. Just IGNORANT and SO RECKLESS. He was never worth that. Not anywhere, even NEAR-IT. I said at the time, more like $42-$43ish MILLION (and that’s a more than fair amount)… Though, I wouldn’t have DONE THAT. Because, he was already UNDER CONTRACT. And, I KNEW this season would be a WASTE and that we’d be heading straight towards a REBUILD with a brand new HC, and would then be moving OFF of Baker. I wanted a vet “bridge” on the CHEAP, in order to BUILD. THE. ROSTER. FIRST. And, this stupid ace FO just handed HIM $165-MILLION, literally right before the season was about to begin… WHEN, Baker had already given them THEIR OUT. It’s PURE IGNORANCE. Just REAL DUMB. An unforced error. 💯
October 1st, 2026 at 3:42 pm
Zac Robinson led a losing season with the Falcons last year. So, to replace our departing OC, a first year loser, we hire Zac Robinson. He should be the first coach to go. He should not have been hired in the first place. Hiring friends so they have a job in the NFL is admirable in my eyes, however, they need to be a proven winner. Not a proven loser. I felt a losing season coming when he was named earlier in the year. It is too late to change things if we act quickly? Is there a competent OC out there that is available? Our players are talented this year. They are being held back by poor coaching. How about a retired HC to fill in as OC? Know anyone? I can think of two…

@ GMC hater Says: “Even Brady would struggle if he had to deal with this offensive line!!!”
No. Brady can read defenses PRE-Snap, and HE knows where he’s going even BEFORE the ball is snapped… So, HE gets rid of it on time. AND, if he already knows that he has a bad Offensive-Line, then HE would get rid of the ball, EVEN QUICKER. It’s just what you have to do. But, that hasn’t been BAKER’S Problem. Since, HE’s been ‘holding onto the ball’ for longer than anyone else in the entire league. You can’t expect for your OL to hold their blocks for 4-5+ seconds in THE NFL… Especially, NOT with the defense that they were up against this past Sunday! And, the thing is… Baker already KNEW THAT going in. 💯
October 1st, 2026 at 4:14 pm
First. Stop saying Coen bailed for the money. Yes he got paid, but he left for the only HC job that was offered to him and with what now seems like a better organization. ALL of you would have done the same thing.
As for the Bucs just have to wait through the season and hope (there’s that word again) Glazers hire a better HC this time. They are about to lose the entire fan base over all of these bad decisions. I’m adding Kenny G to my list of “got paid, checking out”. It’s becoming a long list

I understand about that Rooney Rule BS, but they could’ve easily, gone through the ‘motions’ and navigated all of that, like everyone else does. Actually, seems like, there might’ve been a team or two within the past few years, that possibly even blew-it off entirely, with one of their own ‘obvious’ hires… I know that it was a minor discussion (and debate), and do not believe they received anything more than just a little slap on the wrist. Can’t remember right off who that was!? Anyway, I would’ve done it. It was just waaayyy too obvious to see. Though, I would not have PAID HIM MORE… I would’ve done exactly, what Chris Long said, and would’ve just pulled-the-trigger. Regardless, the decision had to have already been MADE one way or another, BEFORE the season had ended. But, they all seemed totally incompetent, and unprepared. And, they were… Evidently, given their reaction, while instantly acting as if they had a 5-Alarm Fire. They were caught completely off guard. So, I think THEY KNEW IT… That, they’d tried playing with fire, and had just really screwed up REAL BAD. Also, I believe so much so, that THEY WERE prepared to “offer him,” at that point. Otherwise, what’s with all of the PANIC and FREAK-OUT!? I mean, this all played-out publicly!!!! I think Bowles knew all along, exactly WHERE Coen was for throughout the entire time, when he was supposedly still missing LoL.
I said, with still about 4-games left in that season, that THEY HAD TO do “whatever it takes,” including up to sending Bowles upstairs to the FO. Cause, you just could NOT AFFORD TO lose him, and allow for HIM to walk-out that door. Just. CAN’T. DO IT. Not when you already have “HIM.” It’s way too important, and critical for your organization’s entire future. And, here’s the thing… YOU ALREADY KNEW what you had in Bowles. A 62-YEAR OLD, ‘Defensive-Minded’ HC, who needed to have ‘special’ in-game assistants hired, in order to help him with even the most BASIC ‘in-game’ decision-making, with clock-management, use of Timeouts, & etc. And, if not for Winfield Junior, AND the ‘weakest’ 2nd-half schedule in the entire LEAUGE, he probably would’ve been FIRED after 2023. Remember HOW TERRIBLE he was, and during those postgame press conferences!? I’m sure YOU WERE THERE. Just Horrendous. SO AWFUL, in every way imaginable. It was SO EASY to see. And, if you are an Owner of a Franchise (or GM), you have to trust your instincts, and be aggressive enough, to be able to pull off a move like that… That was again, just soooo obvious and easy to see. You’re not going to allow a ‘formality’ such as the Rooney-Rule, to stop you! I mean, you’d stand up and fight that ALL DAY LONG, if you had any guts at all. My only thing is… I’m just not 💯 that COEN himself, wouldn’t had struggled, and had a real hard time, stepping all over Todd Bowles in that way, the man who had hired him!?

We’re back to the lost decade. After they clean house of the stink it will probably be hard to find a decent coach to come here. Cause they will be tied to Baker and some of these crazy extensions like Vita.

Oh that plucky Licht…instead paying 3x what he did for a poor man’s Bucky Irving in Kenneth Gainwell. When does this Licht magic ever end?!
