Cade Otton States Two Personal Goals

Mild-mannered, team-first tight end Cade Otton has a selfish side.
It’s not prominent and he’s not about to pound his chest scream, ‘Get me the damn ball.’ But Otton wants a bigger role — and more recognition.
Joe was almost surprised Otton shared two of his personal goals during a chat this week on The Pat And Aaron Show on WDAE radio.
“It would be great to be recognized by the Pro Bowl,” Otton said. “Some of those things are arbitrary, so you can’t help how it goes a lot of times. And it would be great to get to 70 catches [this season], but other than that I’m not going to worry about those numbers too much. I’m going to focus on team success. And if those come as a part of that, I’ll be super excited.”
Otton has had 59 catches in each of the past two seasons. Last year, his touchdown production plummeted to one after four TDs each in 2023 and 2024.
Otton added that he very much believes he can a downfield threat and he likes how Zac Robinson’s new offense has opportunities for tight ends to fill that role.
No Mike Evans means opportunity, Otton said. “It gives a lot of people a chance to step up. … I’m working my tail off to be one of those guys.”

He used to wear them, found he does better without them. What you’ll notice is that he has tape on every every segment of his fingers

I love Otton.
But 10 million per year for the next two years was crazy!
He’s good. Ànd he’s tough. But he’s small and slow.
He’s good. But not elite by any means.
He’s honestly à #2 TE. He’s like Cam Brate.
We really needed to use his 10 million per year on Vea or Baker.
Or another CB!!!

I hope he reaches both of those goals.
Pro Bowl might be tougher. It’s very arbitrary, as he said.
It appears Zac likes to use tight ends a lot more than some of our previous OCs, so 70 catches may be doable.
He’s a solid TE. Maybe not spectacular, but he steps up and does what he’s asked.
A couple of years ago we needed him as a reciever and he did pretty darn good considering he took some nasty hits and bounced right back up to do it again on the next play.
Last year we needed him to help block on the O-line and his recieving numbers dropped. That shouldn’t surprise anyone.
