All You Need To Know About Bucky Irving’s Shoulder

July 31st, 2026

Bucky Irving had shoulder surgery six months ago and the Bucs never really explained what happened to him, only that he would be recovering through the spring and would be ready for contact in “summer” or “fall,” per Todd Bowles’ words.

The underwear football part of training camp ends Sunday. The team plans to be in pads and hitting each other on Monday.

So will Irving answer the bell?

While Irving says he is ready, that’s unclear because the Bucs haven’t been in pads delivering and taking hits. However, there was a major green flag on Bucky during Wednesday’s practice.

Joe wasn’t going to share it, but since there is glorious fan video of the play, Joe is eager.

In 11-on-11 work, Baker Mayfield took a shotgun snap at the 25 yard line and dropped back a few more yards to throw. He uncorked a high deep ball to the left corner of the end zone to Irving, who was lined up wide with Alex Anzalone in coverage. Irving laid out fully sprawled for the pass. It was incomplete and he landed on his repaired shoulder hard. You can see the play at the 18-minute mark of this Day 2 practice highlights video on YouTube.

The pass was incomplete and Irving bounced up and ran back to the huddle.

Joe has to believe the Bucs never would have had Irving run that route if he wasn’t 100 percent healthy. And Joe also suspects Irving wouldn’t have laid out for the ball if he wasn’t full-go mentally and physically as it relates to the shoulder.

That might be the best news of this week.

(For those wondering, media is not permitted to record practice when there is 11-on-11 or 9-on-7 play, but fans can record all they want and post it anywhere. What a country!)

Sounds like when Mike landed on his shoulder, while trying to catch up to an overthrow. It’s nice hearing there was that kind of effort.

Great to hear that Bucky is full go.

  4. Truth be Told Says:

he is good but small and not a 20 touch a Game workhouse. Great move getting Gainwell. He will play a big role on the team this year! Go Bucs!!

The ball was thrown behind ME when broke off his route. You can’t always blame the QB for every bad play.

Then you got the 2 fatboys, who are actually important to the team ,walking around shaking hands when they should’ve hung out this off season with 40year old calis campbell instead of doritos and fortnight!! UgH!!

A few frames later I saw number zero Diaby in coverage 🫠

Joe you are so petty for deleting everybodies post that disagrees with you. You are not a proffesional you are an amateur.

I’m guessing that the shoulder surgery was to repair the labrum. He would have had the best rehab available too so he will probably be fine.

Rocky… kind of agree. I’ve had many issues with the stuff that would not clear their filters. I had absolutely no clue why. Thought they were freedom of speech believing Americans, but apparently they are all about censorship.

It biggest reason why I will avoid this website for days or weeks at a time
