Tristan Wirfs Has A Hamstring Injury
July 29th, 2026
Buccaneers All-World left tackle Tristan Wirfs didn’t answer the bell for Day 1 of training camp.
Todd Bowles said Wirfs tweaked a hamstring in a report-for-duty running test yesterday. Wirfs, per Bowles, stayed off the field today and was inside One Buc Palace receiving treatment.
Man, the Bucs better be extra careful with Wirfs. He’s too important.
Bad luck, for sure, as fans — and Wirfs — can’t blame the grind of camp or the weather.
Hopefully, this is a silver lining with backups Ben Chukwuma and Justin Skule getting valuable first-team work.

Calm is good……calm is good…..
But seriously, it’s July. Not worried about a precautionary hamstring absence before August

This is the problem with the constant training for athletes now. They are pushing their bodies to the limits and now starting to break down more often. It is concerning how many hamstring injuries the Bucs seem to have. Getting concerned about our trainers at this point. It will be telling if ME13 doesn’t have one this year now that he is with the 49ers.

So someone wanted to talk about Carolina and we start with a main starter injured just reporting to camp.

The best player on the team with an injury. It’ll be fine, don’t worry. We have leadership in place that can adjust.

Wirfs and Vita not practicing does have the upside of giving reps to their backups. Jayson Jones and Capepart need those reps much more than Vita. Some for LT backups Chuk, FOERNER & Skule. Skule plays RT normally but he they’ll probably give him some LT first team reps.

I just hope it doesn’t linger. They haven’t even played one game these bucs are weaklings it starts a the very top

Some of ya’ll were wishing this on Evans, now look
Ya’ll gonna make jokes about Wirfs’ hammys, or for that matter his ankles?

If we go 8-9 again trading Wirfs would give us a leg up for the rebuild. Be a new coach, maybe GM, trade your high paid assets for a complete new start. Hovering around .500, and still being up against the cap, something has to change.

This is football. Injuries happen. It’s a man’s sport for a reason.
My question is are the Bucs trainers focused on proper hydration enough?
When I play golf in the Florida heat I cramp up if I don’t hydrate before and during the round.

So is it a hammy tweat, or an injury? Different stories, different descriptions.
That said, while hampering, I have fewer worries about an OT’s hammy than I have for a RB or WR’s. Not good in all cases, but not as catastrophic for a lineman.

Hodad
There’s no question that we need a new GM too.

rest up Wirfs…we need you once the pads come on!!!!
GO BUCS!!!!

WTF! What are these kids doing in the off-season, Eating doritos and playing video games! I have to blame bowles and mayfield for this!!
July 29th, 2026 at 1:02 pm
I’m ok with his resting. We don’t want him hurt more, who knows what he did to injure himself.
July 29th, 2026 at 1:32 pm
Golf and football hilarious !! Beer is good!

This hammy business could have been part of the reason Evans went to a cooler climate. He just has to worry about electromagnetic fields from the power stations now

Fine just sit out most of training camp–were all better off with that. The risk of a Wirfs training camp injury is not worth it. He can read the playbook and call it good. Meanwhile the backups need to hit it.
July 29th, 2026 at 3:41 pm
Given his value to the team, they’re going to sit Wirfs out no matter how minor the injury.

I’ve been a huge Bucs fan since the 80’s. Players would NOT come to camp in shape. Training camp was also used as a strengthening tool. Very seldom did a player tweak or injure himself even though they were not in playing shape. These hamstring injuries or crazy!
