How Bad Is Kirk Cousins?

So even though it’s the quarterback of a division rival, it’s always a little sad to Joe to see a former Pro Bowl player look like a broken down old man.
Lavonte David isn’t there yet, but he’s moving in that direction. Falcons QB Kirk Cousins is there.
The Falcons, tonight’s Bucs opponent, have a solid offensive line and two high-quality running backs that can catch out of the backfield. They’ve had a mix of receiving weapons, too, though top target Drake London is injured. Their offense shouldn’t be nearly as bad as it is.
Why has it been so awful? Joe watches Falcons games and would point to quarterback play and an offensive coordinator over his head, a rare rotten branch from the Sean McVay tree.
As for broken down and old-looking, that’s what Joe has seen watching Cousins. Frankly, Joe thinks the Phillip Rivers might be an upgrade.
Cousins is missing arm strength. He’s more of a statue. And sometimes he covers up early to eat a sack or ditches the ball prematurely for the same reason.
Always a guy who completed a high percentage of throws, more than two-thirds of passes in his four-time Pro Bowl career, this season Cousins is at a 60.9 completion rate. He’s thrown just 3 touchdowns in 138 pass attempts this season.
The Bucs, on paper and via the eye test, are getting a quarterback tonight less worthy that the Saints’ Tyler Shough. Cousins is a big part of why the Falcons have lost 7 of their last 8 games.
Joe hopes it matters tonight.

Cousins arm strength has definitely taken a step back. If we can stop the check downs and run game tonight we have a pretty good chance

Pains me to say it, but LVD is moving in that direction at break neck speed. Was hard to see Brooks still lumbering around when the game had passed him by. Watching LVD against the Saints reminded me of that. Father time catches us all, and it always happens abruptly at the end. It would be less obvious if he wasn’t playing next to SVD. The middle is our Achilles.

If Bowles cant come up with a game plan to beat Cousins, he should be shown the door and asked to turn in his keys tonight.

We were the ones that made cousins back in 2016 or whatever it was with that YOU LIKE THAT? game.
Mark my words, this defense is so putrid, I’m feeling a revival game coming tonight for cousins. 3 or 4 TDs and over 300 passing yards.
He knows the Bucs is the one team that can give him back his confidence.

They have a tight end and running back that we don’t have an answer for. You don’t need arm strength to torch our LBs. Unfortunately I think tonight’s game is going to go much like Sunday’s game.

How bad is Kirk Cousins? Probably won’t find out tonight. Todd Bowles has a get right defense for any struggling quarterback. His defense usually gets figured out 5-6 games into the season then it’s over

With no pass rush and all day to throw, Cousins should have a good game.

Cousins will look to get ball out quick to counter the blitzing. I’m guessing he’s going to attack us with Pitts, he’s a mismatch over the middle although he’s inconsistent. No reason to think Cousins won’t be as effective as any other back up QB has been against Bowles. I remember Nick Foles looking like a savvy vet in Chicago….thats pitiful was supposed to be a “gimmie” game. Our season hinges on our offense, it’s really a waste of time contemplating the performance of our defense. The scheme sucks and the unit is a joke. Either our offense carries us to victory or we’re witnessing the end of Bowles. Either is a positive.

I put 100 bucks on kirk throwing for 350+ and 2 tds. I am expecting him to obliterate the defense with a classic buc destroying Darnell Mooney game. Kirko loves throwing that guy, so i took the 60+ yards and a td.

Certain horrible QBs own one other team. Bryce Young owns the ATL and of course Cousins, now a horrible QB in his own right is awful against everyone except our Bucs. 500 yards is possible for Cousins as the Falcons win their 5th and final game of the season.

Cousins is gonna look like an all-pro against this defense. He will be able to take a nap after each snap with no pressure.

Cousins only started the last 4 and he got the only win during that 8 game run (i.e. he is 1-3).

Last week I scolded Joe on never underestimating a division opponent. Same thing here… Cousins is still an NFL QB with a history of success the Falcons are professionals.. and the Dixie Chicks hate us.
