Todd Bowles: Bucky Irving Needs To Get Hit

November 12th, 2025

Bucky Irving returns to practice. Sort of.

So the Bucs had a walk-through practice today and running back Bucky Irving was participating.

Irving has missed the past five games with shoulder and ankle issues and Todd Bowles said last week Irving’s primary challenge is the bad shoulder and its ability to withstand punishment.

Today, Bowles said Irving will practice all week but the Bucs will not practice in pads. So, in theory, Irving won’t be able to take those hits to test his injury. And Bowles added taking contact is a requirement for Irving to be ready to play.

“He’s going to have to hit at some point, yeah,” Bowles said. “I mean, he’s lifting and everything and he’s running. But it’s a progression and we’ll see how he does.”

Joe’s not sure how the Bucs will handle Irving. A layman like Joe would say if Irving is going to get hit in practice to test the shoulder, that “hit” might as well come Sunday in Buffalo.

I hope what I heard was wrong about Bucky but we will see

  2. Jamar Dupree Says:

    I agree

  3. Brandon Says:

What was heard about Bucky? A shoulder dislocation takes approximately six weeks to heal… it’ll be six weeks. A rotator cuff or labrum tear requires surgery but for the RB position, honestly not a huge factor other than pass blocking.

I see another Evans situation, Todd Blows plays him in Buffalo on a bad surface and he hurts himself further

The vibe of the team coming off a bye was BAAAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDD, they had little energy or want to on Sunday. Not sure if it’s the injuries and knowing you are shorthanded but they didn’t look with it at all on Sunday. That’s on the coaches

  5. jimmy Says:

    the offense needs a spark.

  6. LawrenceDawsey Says:

I think DS is talking about something else than a physical injury. I heard something else too from an inside contact. It could be a bad thing or it could be absolutely nothing.

  7. LawrenceDawsey Says:

Also, I’m not going to say anything about it other than what I said. It’s none of my business and I want to respect people’s privacy.

  8. AK Says:

DS and LawrenceDawsey like an issue of too much partying or something?

  9. 813bucboi Says:

    sit him!!!!

Grizz wont run the ball anyway!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  10. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Yea, these injuries have a pretty high chance of recurrence and that re-injury could lead to making this injury worse, especially for an RB who takes the brunt of the contact head on or from either flank.

We’ll see how this goes, maybe Grizzard doesn’t feel a need to toss Bucky into the fire like he did to start the season.

  11. DS Says:

Praying he is ok the the end of the day

  12. OrlandoBucFan Says:

Joe, I totally agree. I would rather him be in the game and take a hit than wait until the Bucs hit in practice, which seems rare nowadays.

  13. Smarter than Joe Says:

Laughable reading all the speculation over what some random person on the internet “hears” from an “insider” LOL

    Thanks for the laughs guys/girls

Would hate to see Bucky get injured again by coming back early. If the Orthopaedic doctor says okay and he is good to go, we gotta go with it. But if not, he needs to stay out another week or more. We all know the opposing team are going to go after him and hit hard. No more re-injuries.

  15. Slappy Says:

Anybody disrespecting our coach is a fool. Todd Bowles is an NFL legend and some of the dooders typing up their small-minded hate on this website probably live in the back of their Mamaw’s single wide trailer in the bad part of Ruskin.

Bowles’ defensive game plan completely neutralized Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ high-powered offense, holding them to just three field goals (no touchdowns) in the Super Bowl. That’s 9 points.

It was the first time in Mahomes’ NFL career that his team failed to score a touchdown.

Put some respect on his name or shut your stupid mouth! 🙂

  16. FootBall1 Says:

Agree all this nonsense about inside contacts and something other than an injury. Man please stop with this nonsense !!!. This kind of BS is not good for anyone!!

  17. 813bucboi Says:

    SLAPPY

    CAREFUL!!!!!!

the truth gets you hurt around here lol

also, it’ll be 50 degrees at 7am in Tampa tomorrow morning….blame bowles!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  18. Tucker Says:

What does the Superbowl in 2021 have to do with anything in 2025 in the what have you done for me lately league of the NFL? Wild

  19. Let em bake Says:

Tucker will suffice with a porous bills run defence. That’s weakness buys Bucky another week to heal.

Have you ever read one of your posts… Here on the Internet?

  21. 813bucboi Says:

at 7:42 in the 1st quarter, Grizz had Tucker and White in the back field…

RW motioned to the left side and Tucker ran behind the RG for a gain of 12yards!!!

Grizz never ran that play or formation again…

    wake up Grizz!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  22. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“RW motioned to the left side and Tucker ran behind the RG for a gain of 12yards!!!”

Grizzard has “No Marbles” like Kamikazi Tanaka told Serrano

Grizzard has “No Marbles” like Kamikazi Tanaka told Serrano

    LOL!!!!!!!!

    Good one!!!!….lol….

OC runs a play for 12yards and never runs it again but its bowles fault…lol..

    GO BUCS!!!!

  24. Ron Hubbard Says:

The bigger question is why aren’t the Bucs going to be practicing in pads ? I mean the way they play lately they act like they are afraid to engage. Underwear football is like being a driving range pro.

  25. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

These little guys tend to have shorter careers. I hope Bucky is effective for 10 seasons but 3-4 is the realistic maximum to play at the level to which he was accustomed. Hope I’m wrong.

  26. BucfaninMi Says:

The problem with Tucker is, every time he gets rolling, they don’t give him the ball again. Feed him! He’s a better runner than RW.

  27. ModHairKen Says:

    Slappy calling them out!

(Hey, wait. Didn’t Bowles’ nickname used to be Slappy?)

    Give em hell!

  28. Bartow Buc Says:

We sure could use a healthy BI 7 against the Bills !!

    Go Bucs !!

  29. Oxycondomns Says:
