Todd Bowles Gives Rachaad White A Shoutout

October 7th, 2025

Rachaad White blows through a hole at Seattle.

Yeah, Joe can understand how so many are focused on Emeka Egbuka or Baker Mayfield or Lavonte David or Antoine Winfield’s play against the Seahawks on Sunday.

All had excellent games and provided critical plays to help the Bucs win and push their record to 4-1.

But do the Bucs win without Rachaad White?

Bucky Irving went down last week and White comes in and plays a strong all-around game. Running for two touchdowns, catching passes, laying out blocks, making a key run for a first down late and then sliding to eat the clock rather than possibly scoring and leaving Sam Darnold plenty of time to tie the game.

(The Bucs ended up burning the clock and kicking a game-winning field goal instead.)

Yesterday, Bucs coach Todd Bowles made sure people took notice of White’s strong game.

“I thought Rachaad had an excellent game,” Bowles said. “He played tough all day long.

“Whether it was blocking, running the ball, or catching the football, he did a heck of a job. He saw the holes, took advantage.

“He was a physical runner for the most part. And then he had some great catches on the side as well and some screen plays, and he played a tough ball game.”

Joe doesn’t know if it is because White is in a contract year but prior to the Seattle game, but Joe hasn’t seen White consistently attack a hole like he has this year. He explodess to the line.

But yeah, White had a complete game against the Seahawks. And Joe doesn’t know if the Bucs steal a win without him.

We need to find a way to keep Rachaad….he is a very good RB…..don’t care how good Bucky is, we need White…

Staying in bounds at the end of the game was so excellent. Good job RW!

  3. Jeffrey Becker Says:

might we be better when white starts due to his pass blocking alone?

    white stepped up big time!!!!

im hoping he doesnt, but if he leaves, i’ll be missed…

Rashaad White is very valuable to this football team thats why I couldnt stand when “genius” Liam Coen put him in the dog house towards the end of last season.

Hopefully Grizzard doesnt make the same mistake when Bucky returns….the run game is best when White and Irving are splitting carries

Rachaad “Upright” White did a very good job filling in for Bucky.

  8. JimBobBuc Says:

During the offseason, White decided to get his weight down to get quicker in his contract year. That has certainly paid off with White looking his career best this year.

  9. miken Says:

White should start and bucky the change of pace… sorry

When Bucky returns White needs to keep getting his touches through the air and ground. Dude has really come a long way in upping his game. As it stands the thought of losing White is a no-go for me. Keep feeding him the ball even after Bucky returns. Which is hopefully soon.

  11. Bucs And Them Says:

Dead on Joe! I agree with many who have commented here the last few days about Rachaad’s value to this team. The Bucs would be wise to implement both Bucky & Rachaad in a more balanced way like how the Lions use Gibbs & Montgomery. I think our tandem is even more interesting in that Rachaad is so good in the passing game with his catching and running abilities along with his top shelf pass protection blocking. And, having them both on the field at the same time is a wrinkle we have that the Lions don’t display much with their tandem. Grizzard needs to get Irving & White on the field together even more going forward, giving defenses more to worry about along with keeping both running backs lathered up and healthy. As we get more healthy getting key players back moving forward, this offense could be unstoppable. Go Bucs!

  12. Aqualung Says:

But let’s limit him to three touches a game when Bucky returns, Todd. It’s what you do.

  13. ReeeBarrr Says:

    I like White a lot

    wrong yet again!!!!!

    4-1!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  15. Marine Buc Says:

I would like to see White back next season.

    Give him a new contract – 4 years $16M with $8M guaranteed.

Pay most of the guaranteed money in years 1-3 allowing the Bucs to cut ties after year 3…

  16. BakerFan Says:

Just wondering what the heck happened to Tucker, looks like he has lost his edge as a runner. His ST play isn’t that great either. Hope he turns it around.

  17. Permanently Moderated Says:

How great would it be if players played hard every year instead of just the contract years.

  18. Tackleblockwin Says:

Only thing better than 1 good RB is 2 good RBs. Use them both. It’s one of our strengths.

  19. BootyLover Says:

I would pay White over Otten if there has to be a choice.

  20. firethecannons Says:

White playing with confidence, crazy if he get rid of White, he is 1a/1b back. Bucky is more fragile than White.

  21. Tucker Says:

40 yards rushing 30 receiving really glazing that one I’m glad bucs won but really need Bucky back and the draft will find whites replacement on a rookie deal.

  22. 1sparkybuc Says:

I believe we have four fully capable RBs, and felt it was a mistake to give Bucky virtually the full workload. A rotation of all four might work to keep everybody healthy and experienced. Josh Williams and Sean Tucker could be needed if Irving and White were both dealing with injuries. Tucker had one outstanding game against the Saints, and then went in the witness protection program. Williams hasn’t played at all that I’m aware of. Seventeen games is a long season. Spread the workload and keep them all healthy. My two cents.

  23. Anthony Anderson Says:

If its not broke dont fix it ,we need all four backs, especially with our schedule.

  24. Jp3 Says:

I remember RW doing basically the same thing in 🇩🇪 his rookie season
