Kay Adams: Who Is More Valuable Than Baker Mayfield?
October 7th, 2025
All aboard!
Earlier this summer, the seductive Kay Adams of FanDuel TV was clearly driving the Bucs bandwagon.
Now? She’s the lead cheerleader for Baker Mayfield.
On her weekday show “Up and Adams,” Adams said she is at a loss for words to describe how much fun it is to watch Mayfield lead the Bucs to come-from-behind win after come-from-behind win like it’s no big deal.
“I’m running out of words to describe my affection for the play and the aura of Baker Mayfield,” Adams began. “I don’t know if there is a single player who has meant more to his team through the first five weeks of this season.”
Adams detailed Mayfield was so good he did something teams haven’t done against the Seahawks defense and Mike MacDonald. Mayfield made the Seahawks defense look pedestrian.
Or, as Adams said, MacDonald makes quarterbacks “look like me throwing against MacDonald.”
Except Mayfield did just that.
And Adams correctly pointed out Mayfield, despite his top-shelf play, has yet to have his full stable of receivers healthy.
Man, Joe thinks when that happens, Mayfield and the Bucs will really put on a show.

I wonder if Dorothy prefers a Riesling or if she’s more a buttery Chardonnay kinda gal?
October 7th, 2025 at 6:47 am
Baker proved them all wrong.
October 7th, 2025 at 7:11 am
Adams says she is “at a loss for words”. That’s OK by me. She measures her words because she’s so thoughtful and overall caring and kind. “look like me throwing against McDonald”. Oh Kay! And she’s so funny and pretty too! As far as her affection for Baker goes, maybe she can wait until the end of the season to go on about that. But she knows alot more about those things than I do. Because she’s so very capable at her job. Just such a very special person!

@Leighroy: Well done. Dorothy Konopka.

Calling Rod Munch…..Rod Munch come in please…….RodMunch, why have you gotten so shy?………It’s easy, RodMunch, just apologize, get a new screen name and you will be welcomed into the brotherhood of Baker…….Er, I mean the brotherhood of Bucs.

Yawn.

Baker has been a breath of fresh air.
I was pretty skeptical of how he got the starting job, but that wasn’t on him. If Bowles had just said Baker Mayfield was the projected starter from the geginning, I would have been fine with it. But Bowles staged a rake competition instead. I hate being lied to.
Bowles didn’t even need to lie at the time. He could have just said “I believe in Baker, and everyone else will too.”
But…so far as believing in Baker Mayfield, Bowles had great instincts. He had so much faith that he set aside his desire to build a defense for several years in order to make sure Baker haad everything he needed.
And then, in a year when he could have finally drafted a first rounder for the defense, he again set aside that eesire to get a top WR instead.
Yes, we NEED a better defense. No getting around that. But Mike Evens doesn’t have a lot of time left, and Godwin was an unknown. Could still be an unknown…though signs are pointing positive.
Mayfield is gold so far.
October 7th, 2025 at 8:09 am
Buccaneer Bonzai. Bowles didn’t stage a fake competition. If Trask had been a better QB I promise this organization would have started Trask.
October 7th, 2025 at 8:15 am
Not too unreasonable to think we’d be 0-5 with *any* other QB.
October 7th, 2025 at 8:18 am
Buccaneer Bonzai,
Whew……That’s a long way to get to your point: “ Mayfield is gold so far.”
Everyone except Rod Munch agrees with you!!!!

Not speaking up for Rod Munch. He is more than capable of doing that for himself. But hasn’t he already come out and acknowledged Baker is playing really well? Like a couple of weeks ago. Rod’s whole thing on Baker being a “choke artist” always struck me as something he was teasing people about. Hard for me to imagine that he actually felt that way. I mean it was so obviously absurd. Could be wrong but I never took that as him actually being serious. Just part of his schtick.
October 7th, 2025 at 8:48 am
they were severely shorthanded defensively hough. if excuse works for us, it works for them too.
October 7th, 2025 at 8:52 am
It’s been interesting and nice to see Baker grow into the player he is now. I definitely believed there was a competition for the starter spot when he got here, he came in and won it like he did the rest of the team and the fan base so I think we can put that to rest now. And even if Bowles was leaning in his favor was he wrong judging by the outcome? How bout some props to coach for being right?
He looks like he is playing with even more confidence this year, and he’s been great since he got here but this year there seems to be continuity with Grizz from last year, I think that helps the whole offense and may be a little over looked IMO.
October 7th, 2025 at 8:59 am
Durango 95,
Uh uh…….From the time Bucs signed Mayfield until it became obvious to everyone but Munch that Baker is an elite QB, he continued to rag on Baker. The problem is really his male fixation on Tom Brady. Until Munch takes the poster of Brady with his shirt off, down from his bedroom wall, Munch will never accept Baker. Munch was merciless to those of us who defended Baker from the beginning.
October 7th, 2025 at 9:02 am
Fist bump to Joe. Kay is an amazing looking lady. No doubt about it. And Baker is an amazing QB. Which is why I say Baker is the most entertaining QB this team has ever had. Ever. Bar none.Baker is a better QB today than Brady was in his 3rd season w/ our beloved Bucs.
Absolutely loved it when Baker was taunting Seahawks fans raising his arms up and down urging them to get louder. Challenging them to make more noise. He feeds off that stuff. Loved it. What a player, what an entertainer.
October 7th, 2025 at 9:09 am
Brady is season three was not only a below average QB (his rating was worse than Justin Fields) but an even worse offensive coordinator. Yes, that was Brady’s offense that he was running. There was no resemblence of Arians’ offense that Leftwich was supposedly in control of. Brady was the checkdown, smoke screen, don’t air it out until quarter number four King…. not the Brady of 2020 and 2021 when Arians was here and held him accountable. Baker was significantly better in 2023 than Brady was in 2022 and the stats, the results, and pretty much every possible metric that could be used, proves it. Baker of this year is on par or even better than Brady of 2021 or 2020 was. Brady never played as well with the Bucs as Baker is playing right now.
October 7th, 2025 at 9:28 am
MVP Todd Bowles. Under his tutelage, Baker will need 6000 yards and 50 TDs to secure double digit victories.
October 7th, 2025 at 9:29 am
Grizz deserves a lot of credit. First as QB coach, then as OC who took Coen’s offense and added the long ball!
October 7th, 2025 at 9:30 am
Durango95, that’s BS! He was and probably still is an unbeliever in Baker. He’s just biding his time just like so many others on this site as well as local and national media types just waiting and looking for that knock out punch.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion when it comes to the skill sets etc of a player but the one thing that is indisputable about Baker is his courage and guts. Some people love that about Baker but it is just those characteristics that some people can’t stand about him. In their eyes he’s too small to exhibit those qualities and that those qualities are reserved for the John Elway types. Rod is a small minded man and when he sees Baker’s bravado probably says to himself “who does that little punk think he is?”
October 7th, 2025 at 9:53 am
Here’s my vote for someone more valuable than Baker….Kay Adams.
October 7th, 2025 at 9:56 am
Seductive? Creepy as hell there Joe. Takes away from the fact she does
a hell of a job.
October 7th, 2025 at 10:16 am
I agree with Kay! No really I do! Of course I would agree with her on most anything she said, But thats beside the point….LOL
Go Bucs!
October 7th, 2025 at 11:10 am
Extend him now,, 3 years 45 a year , 90 guaranteed ,,, I wouldn’t wait until he is league MVP or a SB winner and wants 55 per year ,,,
Oh and GMF hasn’t been the same since Kay left
October 7th, 2025 at 11:58 am
Gman says: “Seductive? Creepy as hell there Joe. Takes away from the fact she does a hell of a job.”
She DOES a helluva job and she really knows her stuff. Unfortunately, the harsh reality is that if she was 350lbs with a sweating problem, nobody would care. Unfair but true.
October 7th, 2025 at 12:03 pm
I couldn’t agree more, Gman. Not only is Joe’s modifier for Kay Adams creepy, it’s disrespectful.
Maybe “disrespectful” is fair, but “creepy” is a bit ridiculous. Adams is a 39-year-old in the public eye. Joe shares a fair number of thoughts on this blog. Calling Adams alluring is hardly knuckle-dragging. –Joe
It plays well on this blog because it’s a man cave where knuckle-dragging is accepted behavior.
October 7th, 2025 at 12:48 pm
Merciless is right Gipper.
Rod Munch has had it shown to him over and over again for 2 plus years now, but he refuses to admit the truth about Baker. The truth of the matter is, he didn’t want it to be true, he had another dog in this fight and now there is not much negative material for him to twist and take out of context to try and make Baker look bad. So he just stays away, lying in wait for our quarterback to stumble and then he’ll be back, full force, making up for lost time. I really don’t think Munch has it in him to admit he was wrong. I hope I am wrong about him but I don’t think so. The sad thing is he is missing out on all this fun.
October 7th, 2025 at 1:10 pm
Davyboy, “missing out on all this fun?” Your level of naivety is astounding. And I’m afraid it’s just making it more fun for our Rod. What I like about Rod is that he’s OK as long as we’re winning. Just like me!
October 7th, 2025 at 1:42 pm
dtownva, get off your high horse. kay is hot, and she knows shes hot
October 7th, 2025 at 2:33 pm
I’m just spit balling here but I’m guessing she (Kay Adams) better Avoid Bakers wife! CLEARLY SHE HAS THE “HOTS” for the Baker Man! And if his wife trips out about it, look out for a cat fight!
Now THAT WOULD make for Great TV! HUGE RATINGS….
October 7th, 2025 at 3:09 pm
For those trying TOO HARD to change history…
Sorry but THE FIX WAS IN with the WHOLE FAUX QB COMPETITION…
Actually, what happened was Licht and Bowles figured that Mayfield would easily win it. And initially HE WAS WINNING IT! And THEN the “Clinical” BOTTOM FELL OUT “AS WAS REPORTED BY ALL OUTLETS INCLUDING THIS ONE” and Trask WAS WINNING IT UP UNTIL THE PRESEASON GAMES!
Of which they had already decided that they were going to go with Mayfield… I WOULD suspect that Arians had A Lot to do with the final decision of which QB to go with. They held Mayfield Out of the Preseason Games! EVERYBODY WANTED TO SEE THEM FACE OFF! EVERYBODY! Everyone QUICKLY figured out that it was rigged (as far as “SCREWING UP” and calling it a “composition”)
BUT IT DIDN’T REALLY MATTER how we’ll say for lack of better wording “by the book” that the fake competition went. The powers that be had already decided (thankfully) on going with Mayfield. Trask just DID NOT have enough experience to gamble on because Bowles was Already on the hot seat and DID NOT WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE ON A ROOKIE HE DIDN’T FEEL 100% ABOUT.
I’m willing to bet that it was Arians that called it. I’d Bet Money on It!
And WHAT A GREAT CALL IT WAS!
However, stop trying to change THE FACTS! IT STINKS OF UTTER DESPERATION! BECAUSE IT “UNNECESSARILY” IS!
Baker Mayfield doesn’t NEED TO lie about his road to success. What’s the difference of when he “WALKED ON” and TOOK the college job? There was something that WISDOM SAW, EVEN IF he was bested “clinically” BIG DEAL! HE HAD SOMETHING “BIG TIME” THAT TRASK WILL NEVER HAVE AND THAT’S WHY he won the starting job over Trask!
You Don’t Have To fake it or “TRUMP UP CHARGES” for Baker to have been the better choice whether he got “clinically” bested or not. BOTH SIDES OF THIS SHOULD GET OVER IT AND BE THANKFUL FOR WHAT WE GOT!
October 7th, 2025 at 3:10 pm
Kenton, how so?
October 7th, 2025 at 3:23 pm
No Kenton, I think you are confused about Rod. Rod doesn’t enjoy these moments like the rest of us. When you want someone to fail you aren’t fully enjoying the trip “Baker” has us on.
October 7th, 2025 at 3:44 pm
I think your “naivety” is keeping you from understand me even further. He isn’t even posting, taking part, because he doesn’t want to talk about it. He loves to post but he cant because he doesnt like what is going on right now, what is being said. That is “missing out on all this fun” Kenton.
October 7th, 2025 at 3:51 pm
im definitely no rod munch fan, but some of this is a bit much. i’ve seen him in here posting on almost every article and he admitted weeks ago that he was wrong about baker. he’s said several times that baker is playing at an elite level.
i just want several people to admit that they were wrong about baker being a midget and unable to throw deep because he can’t see the field, that the offense should only be focused on baker checking down (even the joe’s said that) and throwing passes 10 yds or less, etc. when people who have watched baker play have been saying this whole time that he has a huge arm and is extremely accurate with deep passes when he has more than a second to let the pass develop.
he just needed an oc to open up the offense, which is exactly what grizz said he wanted to do from day one.
October 7th, 2025 at 4:21 pm
Obvious One. I’ll bet you that Bruce Arians has less to do with anything than you seem to think he does. He deserves his props for what he’s done for the Buccaneers in the past. And he is a good guy. But Licht and Bowles have had this for the 2 and a half years I’ve been here. Arians had his shot here. And he had his team here. This is a different team. Not Arian’s team. Not even a little bit.

Obvious One,
A lot going on in your post. Gave me whiplash. Question for all Traskers. Where is Trask playing now? Got it. Thought so. All should leave this alone and wish Kyle well.
October 7th, 2025 at 7:05 pm
Kenton; You are always fair, reasonable and respectful in all your posts whether you agree or disagree with something or someone and you always respond in a classy way. To say, however, that Rod is ok as long as we are winning is being too kind.
October 7th, 2025 at 7:32 pm
Oscar,
Really good points. Agree with you on Kenton. Just don’t understand why Kenton feels the need to be an ombudsman/politician on the topic of Munch. The strength of this blog is people are free to say what they mean. No need for water downed political gruel. Munch subscribes to this and has never been shy about saying what he means. Unfortunately for him, he is often wrong but never in doubt. Some of us just enjoy reminding him. Have had enough fun kicking Munch down the road. Going to get back to enjoying Bucs success. Munch can resurface whenever he wants. I officially extend the peace sign——minus my index finger.
