Panic In The Streets Of Atlanta

September 23rd, 2025

No one in Atlanta is laughing.

You just hate to see it.

Shot-callers with the Dixie Chicks are in a full-blown panic right now. The annual darlings of the national #NFLMedia are getting tight in the collar. And changes are already being made in Atlanta with a former Bucs receiver being booted out the door.

And it’s only Week 4!

Getting crushed and shut out by the Stinking Panthers (of all teams!) on Sunday 30-0 has people within the Dixie Chicks’ front office freaking out.

It seems franchise quarterback Michael Penix is not looking very much like a franchise quarterback. In three games he has yet to throw a touchdown pass to a wide receiver. In fact, the only touchdown pass Penix has thrown this year was to running back Bijan Robinson against the Bucs in Week 1.

Since wide receivers are getting locked out of the end zone, Morris was moved to can former Bucs receiver Ike Hilliard, who was the Dixie Chicks’ receivers coach, typed D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Also, Morris has ordered offensive coordinator Zac Robinson down from the coaches’ booth and to stay on the sideline.

The loss to the Stinking Panthers now has the Dixie Chicks with a 32 percent chance of making the playoffs.

Does anyone have a Kleenex?

The Bucs OWN the NFC South. Really appreciating this current run of management, coaches and players. It truly takes all three levels. Speaking of all three levels, the special teams are more worrisome than the OLine or pass rush at this point. Good to see McLaughlin back though.

  2. Pickgrin Says:

    HaHa – Love it!

Rah is already finding and firing scapegoat coaches 3 games in…

Here’s hoping the Fowlclowns will live in disarray all season….

  3. SlyPirate Says:

So, Grizz will be ATL’s HC next year?

  4. Aj Says:

crazy how hard they were being jocked by the nat’l media!
    nfl too!!

all these big market teams get all the attention
    all the time!

meanwhile, small market teams like us can’t even get a pylon camera!

    🤦🏽‍♂️

  5. BucsOnDeck24 Says:

Heem gonna Heem… typical post season opening disaster! That TNF game against Atlanta in (2011?) comes to mind when we got blown out like 56-0 by half.

  6. Marky mark Says:

The national media gets it wrong all the time. Why would anyone give Morris a job after he messed up the Bucs so badly. In a way it is good the Panthers won because it shows how well Baker trains his oCs. Lets start taking bets on where Grizzly lands next January.

  7. StormyInFl Says:

So, basically, after all this time Rah is still a lousy head coach.

  8. Coconut Doughnut Says:

We love to see it Joe 😀

  9. BucNWaterBoy Says:

I love Rah, but other than that, it is fun to watch Atlanta implode. Even better to watch how terrible the Saints are. It just warms my heart knowing that those NO fans are miserable.

  10. Kenton Smith Says:

The Falcons had more than 100 more total yards than the Panthers. And lost by 30 points. That had to hurt! “You hate to see it”.

  11. MelvinJunior Says:

Grizz is going NOWHERE, next season. The ONLY reason (thank-god) Canales was offered the Carolina Job was because NO ONE else, who was already ‘well-established’ was ever going to take it. PERIOD. He was their ONLY option. And, ATL (and their ownership) is NOT Carolina. The “panic” is ridiculous. It was Penix’s 6TH NFL Start. SIXTH. You’re gonna have some of those. Also, Atlanta’s WR-group is VERY overrated, and extremely slim on depth. Their Defense’s BEST 3-Players are all ROOKIES, too!!!! This appears to be just a HORRIBLY coached team.

  12. Gofortheface30 Says:

I’m so tired of people saying we’re a small market. The paranoia, the inferiority complex of some of you boggles the mind. This ain’t 1980. We aren’t some cheeky little upstart town and team anymore.

    1. Tampa is ranked 13th out of 32 teams in market size
    2. This isnt the struggling NBA where media personalities openly root for the finals to be in LA, Boston etc. Legacy, brand matters even more. Tv execs aren’t exactly crying if the Packers and Steelers are in the Super Bowl. The NFL is also not a free market technically with the hard cap – so teams like Dallas doesn’t dominate every year.
    3. Idk what you watch but the Bucs are talked about out constantly. New headline this week on a rich Eisen segment: “are the Bucs the most exciting team in the nfl to watch?” Going back to 2019 – this has been nothing new. The Bucs have earned the right to be talked about by having headline players, going to the playoffs and winning in the playoffs. This has made the Bucs relevant.
    4. The Bucs have the second best record in the nfc this entire decade. One game behind the eagles. The Bucs have become a top 5 organization in the NFL. We have to stop the little man complex. People everywhere view the Bucs as a strong organization with a strong winning culture starting at the top

  13. It's Corn Says:

I thought they were going to be much better than they are. Like a 10-7 playoff bound team. Shows what i know.

  14. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Just for fun I tuned into the Falcons flagship sports radio channel yesterday. It was a fun listen for a little while.

  15. MJ Says:

That could have been us if it wasn’t for Jason Licht learning on the fly. We would have been fans of the crappy post Brady Bucs… He’s the reason our players are better and the culture is better. Bruce Arians promoted Todd… Say what you want about Todd but he’s been steady and the players love him and he’s gotten better at coaching esp his late game time decisions… Amazing that the NFC south which was supposed to be improved this year is actually looking worse after 3 games and the Bucs are the only improved team. Penix has the potential to be a great qb. But the coaching/scheme/WR’s are not helping him… Carolina is improved and we may split with them but a sweep of NO looks likely…

  16. Kgh4life Says:

I can recall the talking heads predicted the Falcons was going make the players. I just don’t get why the national media is obsessed with the Falcons.

  17. MJ Says:

Could Penix be the next Baker/Steve Young? kicked out of his city and goes onto star elsewhere. If ATL gives up on him maybe we should get him for when Baker retires in a few years…

  18. SB~LV Says:

    Trade for Pitts

  19. Razorramone Says:

Agree, we really need a tight end.

    ___________

    I have a theory.
    A very dark theory.

  21. Bosch Says:

Falcons have a 32% chance of making the playoffs. Ain’t that a shame?

  22. D-Rome Says:

Raheem is not head coaching material. His team is imploding just like the Bucs imploded under his watch. He was the coach that kicked off the Lost Decade.

He sat Penix during that game in favor of Kirk Cousins. Perhaps Penix needed another year. After all, Kirk was clearly injured last season.

He’s a good coordinator, but not good enough for the top gig.

  23. BucsNbeer Says:

Never did like Raheem. Just something about the guy you love to hate. Not head coach material.

  24. Pelsbuc61 Says:

Tone down the glee. Plenty of football left and Bucs have a hard schedule coming up.

  25. Joe Says:

He was the coach that kicked off the Lost Decade.

LOL Michael Penix said he never grew up a Bucs fan because of the Lost Decade but he loves this coach, Rah. Someone should have told him Rah is the very same guy who launched the Lost Decade.

  26. Itzok Says:

    Race to ten

    Losses

  27. Boomer Says:

Someone should tell Atlanta fans the Raheem and his player oriented coaching style torpedoed his last first round qb pick. Guy hasn’t changed.

  28. Smarter than Joe Says:

ATL has 8 or 9 losses on their schedule

Baffles me how the Bucs struggle to limit the Falcons passing game but teams like Carolina and the Aints can beat them with ease

Bucs defense is a PROBLEM, as always with Todd Blows

  29. UGotRobbed Says:

We don’t throw to tight ends now! So would we need to trade for one? Lol

  30. GenocideD Says:

But they drafted two blue chip DEs…?

  31. BuccaDAWG Says:

It’s too early o gloat at anyone. Remember how the past few seasons have played outdoor the Bucs, start fast cool off in the middle then finish STRONG. But it is nice to be in 1st place & have a little breathing room. But we still gotta play a strong Philly team with a preseason O-line

  32. 813bucboi Says:

they are who we thought they were!!!!!….lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  33. El hefe Says:

I told everyone be more worried about the panthers than any other team in or division not saints or falcons panthers aren’t great but but better than the other 2 for sure

  34. lambchop Says:

Did anyone hear about Lawrence dismissing Liam Coen? They had a heated exchange on the sidelines. Couldn’t have happened to a better person than Benedict Coen!

  35. Jeffrey Becker Says:

what a mess. couldn’t even solve a headset issue last week. penix wants out i bet.

  36. DrunkInYbor Says:

3rd down and Ike ain’t the problem.

  37. orlbucfan Says:

Sean Payton is the cheating POS I despise. You can bet the Denver Broncos have him on a real short leash. I just see the Falcons, Panthers and Saints as our division foes. So, I brace for dawg fights which usually happens. I don’t take any game for granted either. Lost Decade? Really? You should have been here for the real Dark Ages: 1983-95/96. Shudder!

  38. Aqualung Says:

Falcon QBs suck unless they play a Bowles defense. Whether it was Desmond Ridder, Kirk’s Cousin, or Michael’s Penix, they all mowed through the soft shell turtle 4th Quarter prevent victory defense like a John Deere with a race car engine.

Yet Carolina shuts them out. LOL!

  39. SB~LV Says:

    UGotRob
2 things for an about Pitt
First let me explain why “ we don’t use our tight ends … see injuries to the OL and the TE’s needed for compensation with blocking
    Two – the big picture

  40. BakerFan Says:

The problem with Penix is that he is not a NFL starter, certainly not a Top 10 draft pick. what a terrible decision they made drafting him. I watched the game on split screen on Sunday and some of his passes were just Gawd awful. Next 3 games are Commanders, Bills and 49er’s. Can you say 0-7, it is not too far of a stretch to see that happen.

  41. John ocala Says:

Morris is in a bad city for his kicks. Remember when he was the Bucs HC? He was in all the local strip clubs more than he was at one buck place. Atlanta Georgia has some of the most badass strip clubs in the nation. It’s like throwing a fox and a penthouse or having an alcoholic work for crown Royal….

  42. MelvinJunior Says:

@Gofortheface30 – I’m glad you said it! I was going to say the same thing, but didn’t feel-like typing it hahah. But, you left off one other thing… THE 11TH ‘largest’ Tv-market (prob 7th or 8th if you add-in Orlando).

  43. MelvinJunior Says:

So, I would call-it more of a “mid-sized” market, right there with other markets such as Minneapolis, Phoenix, Etc.

  44. MelvinJunior Says:

@ lambchop – that was last week. Cohen welts NUTTS on him on the sidelines, over not throwing it to the WR’s chest/numbers, and Lawrence (like a spoiled little child) just waved him off while on the field. He continues to throw high “hospital” balls, and putting his receivers in danger. If you remember, he used to get on Baker pretty hard too, and they had SEVERAL spats… But, mostly behind closed doors though. The only thing that happened Gus weekend was Lawrence audibled outta a run-play like he was supposed to do, and hit Brian Thomas for about a 47-yard gain! I can see this relationship really souring and not lasting much longer than this season, if Lawrence doesn’t grow-up, become more of a LEADER, and show a lot more urgency. I’d LOVE to see a Bears-Jags/Williams-Lawrence switcharoo… I’m always, rooting for MORE DRAMA.

  45. MelvinJunior Says:

@orlbucfan – No they sure don’t. HE is going NOWHERE, anytime soon. They gave HIM the damn KEYS to the franchise AND they have a brand new stadium on the way! HE is their MAN. Period. I mean, they were even willing to walk away from Russell Wilson and taking a $200MIL+ HIT to their salary cap, RIGHT AFTER signing him, just because Sean Payton said so. So, they’re going to have alllllll the ‘patience’ it’s going to take with HIM, especially while knowing that this is a long term rebuild. They are even a little ahead of schedule too, after last season’s pleasant surprise. Unless, there is a total implosion AND something else crazy happens, like he retires or whatever, HE isn’t going ANYWHERE, anytime soon. They are realistic’ and fully aware of their cap issues, & etc. in one of THE ‘toughest’ divisions in football. I don’t understand why you (or anyone else) would make such comments on other teams, & etc. When you obviously, follow no one else, other than just the Bucs. Same with people commenting (‘empty’) on politics, when they haven’t even the FIRST clue about (all sides/facts/details of) the issue(s)!? I can’t understand it. It just makes no sense. It’s like, know your lane. Instead of just empty babbling, with ZERO real thought.

  46. garro Says:

Not gonna rub it in becasue they plaeyd well enough to win in Atlanta. However it does feel good to prove the corrupt media wrong…even if they will never admit it.

    Go Bucs!

  47. Mobucs Says:

The media love the Falcons because Atlanta is a media center, thanks to Turner & Cp. To many in the rest of the country, especially in the media establishment, it is the woke capital of the South, so they identify with and are biased toward anything identified with it.
