Benjamin Morrison Limited In Practice, Limited Mentally

September 3rd, 2025

Rookie returns.

The Buccaneers’ rookie second-round pick returned to practice today after a four-week hiatus.

Cornerback Benjamin Morrison was back on the field. Head coach Todd Bowles, however, was lukewarm on Morrison being ready to play Sunday in the season opener at Atlanta.

Bowles said Morrison was physically “limited” (hamstring) in practice — the official injury report comes out later — and also noted that Morrison is mentally limited. Yes, Morrison is clear-headed but Bowles said he missed defensive installs and would need time to catch up.

Joe’s just glad the arrow is pointing up on Morrison, the ballhawk out of the Unviersity of Notre Dame. The Bucs will need him this season.

Good thing CB is the “easiest” position to learn on a Bowles defense!

  2. First Last Says:

They shouldn’t worry about that. He needs to be ready to play because when we blow out the Poop Birds he should be available to jump into the game and clean up garbage time for 3 INT’s from KirkoChainz who will fill in for Michael Penis Jr. after he takes 50 sacks

  3. Aqualung Says:

No worries, it’s pretty easy to teach a guy to be at least 12 yards away from the nearest receiver.

  4. jimmy Says:

i thought we had a quote from bowles that he was studying and stuff. or was he just studying tik tok while todd thought he was looking at the playbook. mentally limited lol. how about lazy.

  5. Stpetematt Says:

If Atlanta were smart- and they are not- they’d start Cousins against the Bucs both games and Penix the rest of the year, lol.

  6. KABucs Says:

As long as he’s up to speed sometime week 4-7 when Dean goes down.

  7. Stpetematt Says:

If the Bucs are squashing Penix do you think they sub in Cousins?

  8. Jmarkbuc Says:

Is he unable to sit in meeting rooms for installs?

  9. bucfanforever Says:

It is a tough mental journey to mentally prepare to learn this defense. You have to throw out everything you know about playing DB. Then learn how to line up 15 yards from the line of scrimmage, wait until the receiver catches the ball underneath you, then chase them downfield hoping that Winfield knocks the ball out before the receiver makes it to the endzone.

  10. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

There’s no rush, the only need to rush him into action is for those clinging onto their offseason bets that he’d replace Dean to be justified. Installs happen in the classroom and on the field, you can be around for the classroom part which is work study, the on field side is actually the physical application of the install which Morrison can’t do due to his hammy.

    Damn good point.

  12. GoneGator Says:

I’m a little disappointed but better to be cautious so we can have him full strength for the rest of the year 🤞🏼.

I think Zyon gets a pick and one of our ILBs gets another after we put Penix on his a$$ a few times.

  13. SlyPirate Says:

When the Bucs drafted Morrison, they thought he’d be out a few games recovering from surgery. This isn’t something they haven’t planned for.

  14. Dreambig Says:

I was very excited when the Bucs drafted him. I love the way in college he is constantly looking back to find the ball instead of just chasing the receiver. Old school play that is sorely missing now in the NFL. It is still very early but so far, very disappointing. I am still hoping that he becomes the defensive equivalent of Egbuka. Looking like a long shot for sure.

  15. Colonel Angus Says:

Dude is a rookie, hasn’t played in his 1st game yet, he’ll be fine.

  16. Pewter Pirate Says:

Hamstrings happen. Not a surprise. He is going to get healthy. Just hope he is healthy enough to play for that first game Dean leaves early for injury.

  17. #99 the big fella Says:

I see Aqualung is his usual negative self

  18. Tony Says:

Maybe I’ll be wrong but I can see why I would’ve passed on him as of now. Of course I want him to turn out fine but it’s just headscratching that they feel like they always need to draft or sign players dealing with a bunch of injuries alot of the time. You’ve dealt with injuries for too long you’d think you’d learn to stay away from injury prone players now. Yeah sure anybody can get hurt but it’s like why keep flirting with disaster. Could’ve addressed another area on D instead.

  19. Jmarkbuc Says:

Reddick and Vea not practicing today?🧐

  20. Ufcguy1979@gmail.com Says:

How do u mentally miss installs when you aint doing crap on the field
This os insanity. He should know this playboook better than anyone

  21. ballwasher61 Says:

Wow, I didn’t know there were this many out of work DB coach’s on your site Joe, maybe Licht will see this and track them down for an interview at the least.

  22. dumboldguy Says:

Why wasn’t he present when installing the defense? Did his hamstring keep him tied to a bed?

  23. GoneGator Says:

Sounds like he may be available for some snaps against Atlanta if we need him…

  24. Hodad Says:

Never believe a thing Bowles says about injured players.

  25. buc4evr Says:

He probably will have secret hip surgery on Friday, but Bowles will say he is day to day for Sunday. lol.

Good one! Yeah ” Play 10-20 yards off your guy just don’t let him run past you.” Easy peasy! GO BOWLES!

  27. Timbucs2 Says:

What’s to learn? Give the WR a fifteen years cushion and let them run free over the middle. That’s the Buc way.

  28. firethecannons Says:

agreed this is the besst time for him to be limited, we have all the other corners ready to go. By the time Dean needs to be replaced for injury then Morrison will be ready

  29. Moosevincent Says:

Got this bad feeling he will be chronically injured

  30. LongtimeLkldBuc Says:

Why why why to i read the responses?
What a collection of negative assholes!!!!

  31. Bucswin Says:

Why soooo seriousaaaa? Can we have some fun please? GO Bowles!

  32. Aqualung Says:

Doesn’t matter – Todd could make Deion Sanders or Ronde Barber in their primes interchangeable with a vegetative person with a disability, with no difference in results.

  33. Aqualung Says:

PS – dude looks like he needs one of those “athletic measuring devices” that looks like a manzier. Like the one Baker had on in that infamous photo.
