“Outstanding” Bucs Preseason TV Ratings
August 24th, 2025
Team Glazer has another arrow pointing up.
How excited are Tampa Bay residents for this Bucs season?
Joe knows serious fans are drooling just 14 days from opening day, but it seems the casual fans also are hungry.
Buccaneers preseason TV play-by-play man Chris Myers noted during the broadcast last night that TV ratings for the Bucs preseason have been “outstanding.” He implied that success includes affiliate stations that carry the games outside of the flagship WFLA-TV in Tampa.
Joe believes the Bucs are on the cusp of igniting their fan base again — and building on it — if they can avoid their midseason swoon of the past two years. The Bucs have not had a winning record on Thanksgiving in the Todd Bowles era. That means a lot of family members mauling turkey together and grumbling about the Bucs, versus making plans to attend games and begging for Bucs-related holiday gifts.
Joe would love to see a strong and consistent season from the team. That would go a long way toward exciting and unifying fans.

I’m A HUGE fan no matter what. Always have been. Been a fan since a was a little kid in St. Pete since 1979. Believe me it hasn’t always been easy!!! These past 5 years have been a blast!!! Yes, There are close losses that give me stress , however, Light has built a KICK ASS team… Proud BUC!!

Todd needs to turn his play calling duties to either Caldwell, or Foote. The defense looked lost under his leadership last night. Bucelle looked like an all pro. Six turnovers first two preseason games, zero under Todd. Defense could not get off the field on 3rd down. Pass rushers lost in coverage. Sound familar? Expect the same this season under Todd’s leadership. Dude has been figured out. Only team he’s fooling with this garbage is his own.

Bowles lucks out again with another embarrassingly weak 2nd-half schedule for this season. I mean, the last 10-GAMES on this season’s schedule are ALL ‘cupcake’ city… I will be shocked if both Stafford and Penix are still healthy, by the time the Bucs get the RAMS and then ATL at home. The only other strong team during that stretch is Buffalo… The rest are all Saints, Panthers, Dolphins, Patriot, & Cards. I mean, come on… 8-2 at the very minimum, with a schedule like THAT, if this is any ‘serious’ team/contender.

Yes, I was waiting for someone to say what I was observing and seeing last night. The defense, second , third string, whatever was awful!!!. at best. Yes, I know it was a preseason game, but wow!!!, their 3rd srting qb looked like he was incredible. Short of one great sack, their was no pressure or containment. Simple pass , and or run outside containment and throw for big yeards. Tackling poor at best as well. Yes , I know no starters but please Joe , somebody bring up the poor defense. I did hear Ronde say, at least if you can’t tackle you can’t be on the team. He also mentioned this team this year has to get pressure on the qb, with out all the fancy blitzes and Todd knows that. Boy it sure makes you wonder about the depth.

Chris Myers gave GBF & The Sage shoutout in the 3rd quarter last night.

I recently saw a prediction on an internet site that had the Bucs 12-5!
Pretty good eh. But the way they saw it happening. The Bucs lose 3 of their first five games including the opener in Atlanta before recovering from a 2-3 start!
They base that on the fact of the Bucs injuries to Wirfs and CG along with the tougher part of their schedule being up front with a cake walk the second half.
I do not want to see a 2-3 start period!

Who cares? Florida is a bunch of New York transplants and bandwagon jumpers, anyway. Drives me bat crud crazy. Get the fans to quit selling their single game season tickets to subsidize their purchase would be a start. Problem with all our teams. You people that do that SUCK, btw. Goodnight, now.

Yeah, I remember hearing Myers make that comment last night and immediately thought to myself “what does that even mean?”
Does that mean that viewership is better this year? The best of all time? Or does it mean that viewership is pretty good considering that it is the preseason and practically zero starters have played in any game.
Really, “outstanding” means nothing – like when store offer a sale that is “up to 50% off of everything”. It’s a phrase that could also mean full price for everything.

I can definitely see that or worse. Then again, it could be be 3-2 or better. Nobody really has a clue because other than a smattering of minutes where some of the first team played, none of us has seen the real Bucs team this year, et alone the injuries that have already put us behind the eight ball early on.
When I saw this year’s schedule, I thought the Bucs would be 4-4 entering the bye week. Anything better than that and they are real contenders this year. Anything worse than that, I know that injuries have already taken their toll.
With no injuries, the Bucs have/had a team that is/was good enough to beat every single team in the NFL. Unfortunately, that is already not the case.
