Teddy Bridgewater Is Ill
August 23rd, 2025So no Teddy Bridgewater tonight against the Bills in the preseason finale.
Apparently, he is sick. No specifics were provided by the team.
Does this affect Bridgewater’s status in his battle with Kyle Trask for the No. 2 quarterback gig? The Joe typing here thinks it already belongs to Bridgewater.
The cutdown deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m. Will the Bucs carry three QBs?

I think Joe is right. Bridgewater is not in the game as the Bucs’ coaching staff do not want him banged up behind a bunch of 3rd string linemen and getting hurt. Trask will take the beating instead and then get cut in all likelihood. The #2 qb spot probably was decided the day Bridgewater signed.

Bridgewater faking illness to avoid getting injured before officially making the roster?

He took medicine, but it’s slow release.

Bridgewater is going in the practice squad.
Trask had a great game tonight. The touch pass to Tez was great.

Gotta play in a QB battle if u just have the sniffles…his sample size this season at least is not enough

He is soft like butter… Really? We are protecting our fragile 3rd string QB. He is talented i like him. But his body can’t sustain. Like Sherman when he came here. They run till their muscles seize up. Why? Go Bowles!

If Teddy ‘Hospital Ball’ Bridgewater goes out with a 3rd team offensive line and looks awful – then it’s harder to justify keeping him and cutting Trask. Easier to claim Teddy is “sick” – then watch receivers drop TD’s for Kyle when you repeat his stat line as the reason to keep the IR machine.

If they cut Trask and then Mayfield gets hurt…
Then you got couchrider Bridgewater in as your starter.
Trask won’t go to the practice squad. He’ll get picked up by another team – namely the Saints or the Colts.

Rod and his weak sauce “Hospital Ball”. I wonder if he can name even one other time when a receiver was injured on a throw by Bridgewater. As Joe, so correctly said, there is no way we as fans can even know if McMillan did not even run his route short.
Those two other passes for TDs from Bridgewater show the dude knows where to place balls.

I’m curious why anyone thinks Bridgewater is the automatic #2? Cause he had one decent preseason game? If they’re that confident in him then he must have had some fantastic practices. I think the coaching staff likes trask more than fans realize. He has been around here for a while. Guess it comes down to having a new OC and what he thinks

I don’t know, sending a young star WR home in a neck brace to miss half the season isn’t what I’d call a good game. But it is amazing he’s being talked about as making the roster. In a sane world, he’ll go to the practice squad, no one is signing him off the Bucs PS, and you keep Trask who actually knows the offense and doesn’t have a history of getting guys hurt. In that scenario, if anything happened to Baker, they’d just activate Teddy and I’m sure Bowles would start him, and you’d still have Trask as the backup. Last thing the Bucs should want is to have Balzsack as the 3rd QB (on the PS), if that happened, the season is over.

hedline makes it look like he’s III string haha

LOL. I think we would be okay with the Kyle Trask era beginning in New Orleans if he is dropped to QB3.

Could be the greatest trade opportunity in franchise history, Trask to NO for a Ricky Williams bobblehead. Hershel Walker Trade Level steal for the Bucs
August 23rd, 2025 at 10:30 pm
Yeah rod that’s what baffles me. Mayfield is a physical qb. Id he goes down are we really ok with just Bridgewater who has had injuries himself? We would be scrambling to get another backup for him. Like you said nobody was competing for Bridgwater and he’s new to the system

Let’s all be honest here. Trask looks pretty terrible for being in the league 5 years now.
I would definitely rather have Bridgewater backing up Baker.
I guarantee we could win more games with TB if we needed to.

I love trask. The conversation imo is about how badly letting him go for nothing will hurt us. Scenarios like charlotte or new orleans.
His style of play fit when Brady was here but not with baker, bazelak and bridgewater do

A backup NOBODY wanted….
Such a GREAT sign!…
It’s a Bucs life!

Ya’ll trippin…
Trask is #2 and the Bucs only keep 2 QBs on 53 man roster
Bridgewater to the Practice Squad

The way they have treated Kyle is absolutely horrendous , Bowles for some reason never wanted him here, he went out and lobbied to get Mayfield , announced there would be a fair competition between Mayfield and Kyle which was a total lie , which was found out when Kyle outplayed Mayfield during the competition and then it was discovered they had already signed Mayfield to be the starter! Then it was as if they were afraid to let Kyle get any reps in games for fear he would out perform Mayfield ,( 11 plays in four years, that lack of opportunity to develop a player is coaching incompetence at the least ,bordering on professional malfeasance) . Now Bowles goes out and brings in Bridgewater , letting it slip that he’s the one he always wanted! Despicable! But not unheard of , Jerry Granville when coaching at Atlanta did not like Brett Farve actually said he would never play him , and traded him to Green Bay ,John Fox at Denver did not like Tim Tebow , actually calling plays that did not fit Tebow style , as John Lynch reported when he was working as a game commentator, how did that work out for those Gentlemen? Farve went on to be elected into the HOF at Greenbay, Tebow went on to set multiple records during his brief time at Denver ,some of which still stand , and what about Granville and Fox ? They’re not coaching in the NFL anymore , although I hear Fox is coaching a swim team somewhere.
