CBS Really Likes What It Saw From Emeka Egbuka
August 13th, 2025
Grade!
Joe isn’t sure how anyone can decipher or judge a rookie from two targets and one catch (and almost a wild catch for a second reception).
But hey, a grade is a grade.
And to lend credence to the grade, CBS is no PFF tribe!
Chris Trapasso, who heavily focuses on the NFL draft and NFL prospects for the Tiffany Network, decided to grade each 2025 NFL first-round draft pick rookie in his first game-like setting — in the first week of worthless preseason games.
And despite Egbuka only catching one of two targets, Trapasso came away impressed.
19. Emeka Egbuka, WR, Buccaneers
Grade: AMiniscule sample from Egbuka in this game, but his one flash came on a 21-yard contested-catch win on a deep comeback with a cornerback draped on him.
For perspective, Trapasso gave out eight grades of “A” or higher. Yes, “A+” is a higher grade.
Sure, Joe was more than content seeing Egbuka perform with the lights on at The Licht House. But Joe has seen better.
Joe has watched Egbuka face better talent than the Titans have (when can we as #NFLMedia begin calling the Titans using just the first syllable like “Bucs,” “Jags,” “Cards,” “Pack,” “Vikes,” etc.?). So what he did against Tennessee wasn’t remotely earthshaking.
Still, it was good to see the moment of a worthless preseason game wasn’t too big a stage for the Ohio State star.

Regarding the “almost wild catch”, Kyle Trask. I’m neither here nor there with Trask – middle of the road, on the fence kind of a thing. But…what about that pass and the ball placement. I don’t think enough has been said about that. Wow!

Lt. Dan, I’m in total agreement.

Good lord just turn down the hype. It was one catch.

EE was interfered with on that play.

Exactly, there’s a really good photo of basically the guy covering EE with his hand on EEs helmet down pushing off. It was sooo blatant looking, I’m surprised it wasn’t called. Probably would have been in the regular season. It was hard to see on TV in real time and even on the replay due to the angle.

We sure are getting worthwhile news from this worthless game.

Yup.
And Joe linked to Joe’s photo in the first paragraph. 🙂

Joe,
I feel you with the proposed abbreviation of the Titans. Just call ’em The Teats and errryone will know what you mean. Well, at least I will. LOL.

I really like Buka. Thought he did well and he comes across as being wise beyond his years with a terrific work ethic.

This is a classic example of the NFL’s publicity people going to work! Who will be the next NFL stars? Start building their credit! It’s also a pretty good guess based on the vibes coming out of 1 Buc Place. Many there project EE9 to be a superstar receiver!

But, Joe, if we follow that pattern… wouldn’t it be pronounced the “Tights”? 🙂
