Baker Mayfield

Joe didn’t think Cody Mauch’s story of him allowing a male fan to put a digit in his mouth could be topped on the raunchy scale, but Baker Mayfield managed to do it.

Yes, Mauch’s story is how Joe described it. Ewww.

Mayfield, however, found a way to slightly edge a out his right guard. While Mauch’s dabble in disgusting was a year ago, Mayfield’s goes back to college.

A guest on the New Heights podcast, Mayfield talked about the craziness surrounding his return game to Texas Tech, his initial college program. Mayfield lost his starting job at Texas Tech and then transferred to Oklahoma but was forced under then-NCAA rules to sit out a year. Eventually, Mayfield won the Oklahoma starting gig and was heading back to Texas Tech to face the Red Raiders quarterbacked by Patrick Mahomes.

It was an all-time classic, with Oklahoma winning 66-59 and Mayfield throwing 7 touchdown passes.

Mayfield talked about being so jacked up about that game, he took a bite out of a softshell tortilla thrown on the field, an opening-kickoff tradition at Texas Tech games.

Those tortillas are banned but Mayfield admitted he knows fans sneak them into game in undesirable and unspoken places.

“They’re pretty damn stale and there’s also no telling how — because they tried to ban it but kids will sneak them in anyway — there’s no telling where [fans] hide these things,” Mayfield said. “They threw one down there on the field; I saw the guy who threw it — took a bite out of it. I didn’t get sick, didn’t get sick.”

Co-host Jason Kelce told Mayfield he sent a message.

“I did. I will eat you for lunch and dinner,” Mayfield said.

And this is why ladies & gentlemen our starting QB is so easy to root for .
Man I hope Bake can win a bowl with the bucs ! He hangs and is friends with the team . He’s not afraid to throw blocks and for the last 2 years he has been really slinging the rock ! Baker is one of us with the ability 2 play good football . Everyone needs to show this guy and the bucs nothing but full support . Years ago , in Seminole FL at a place called boomerz , I ran into monte kiffin. My mom managed the place & I k ew he was a regular there . It was training camp of the 2002 season . I politely walked over to him , just said Mr. Kiffin I just wanted to say good luck this season , we all love you here & go bucs! I looked down and he had X’s and O’s drawn all crazy on a crap full of napkins he looks up , smiles and shakes my hand and says hold on . He signs a few of the napkins and gives them 2 me . I don’t have them anymore , wish I DID because I shortly there after realized he was drawing up plays for the eventual super bowl winning team of that year . My point is , think positive , if you see a buc out , thank them . Send good mo Jo out there into buc land and good things will happen !!! Go bucs

Baker is a Man’s Man at the Hardest position to play in all of sports. We are so lucky and so is he that things have worked out like they have. WE have a Great Team here the next 5-7 years at least with Baker her and the nucleus of this team. Now about that putrid Pass Defense-let’s see a lot of improvement for a lot of reasons this year! Super Bowl or Bust! Go Bucs!!

  5. Baken Your Face Says:

As a lifelong Sooner fan, Baker brought us so many great memories. He was relentless and never gave up a game by not answering back to the other team’s scores until the clock stopped him. He’s still a great hearted entertaining fan favorite QB1..

“…Cody Mauch’s story of him allowing a male fan to put a digit in his mouth…” Uh – I’m ok if you don’t bring this up anymore.

Umm Joe? I already know Baker is a very tough dude…But now I have to have this in my head the next time I go to Jalapenos for my burrito fix. Dang it man! LOL

    Go Bucs!

  8. gp Says:

A young lady in a slightly oversized bra could probably smuggle a dozen soft tortillas in, no problem.
    I’m OK with that!

  9. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

I LOVE IT!! That is not that gross. I can see it. SEND that message!!

Sorry Joe, some strange dude sticking a finger in my mouth is far more gross. If it was a hot girl, it would be ok.

  10. Aqualung Says:

Baker was implying the tortilla tasted like azz. Which implies where it came from…….

    That’s my quarterback!

  11. SlyPirate Says:
