It Seems Todd Bowles Just Might Be Channelling Bill Parcells

We all know Todd Bowles spent years as an assistant with Bill Parcells at Dallas and later in Miami when Parcells ran the show down there.
Joe noted in a previous story that Parcells was a big believer in backups being versatile. Parcells firmly believes those players add great depth.
Speaking about signing Carl Nassib yesterday after practice, Bowles seemed to take a page right out of Parcells’ book. A big reason why Bowles wanted Nassib back was revealed.
“He has a lot of versatility,” Bowles said.
So if you are to believe Bowles is a chip off of the Parcells’ block, keep “versatility” in mind when you are trying to figure out what receivers will be kept. Cyril Grason can play slot and outside (and Tom Brady has a trust built with him). So too can Tyler Johnson. And Scotty Miller can play special teams and receiver. Breshad Perriman? He only plays outside and no special teams.
(FYI, tight end Ko Kieft also plays fullback and probably special teams.)

With a name like Ko Kieft, how can there be any doubt that he’ll make the team. Can already visualize him standing on the bow of our pirate ship, waving a sword, murmuring ‘Off with their heads’ as our opponents shuffle into RayJay.

Perriman has a guaranteed contract of $1,047,000……..I think he makes the team or gets traded unless Licht wants to eat the money……

Perriman could be traded, or if he is cut and another team signs him- the new team contract would be credited to Bucs cap, per my understanding.

Kieft and Darden are keepers. Agree with the observation, Perriman is toast. Never before have the Bucs had so many bubble players that are NFL ready. Good depth speaks to recruitment and development. Credit Licht and Brady for bringing the guys in; and credit the coaching staff, assembled by Arians & Bowles, for making them better.

Before the Bucs had a boner of Darden and before they signed Julio Jones, yeah, Perriman would have been close to a lock. Now, he’s possibly on the outside looking in. That and he’s hardly practiced this month.

A million bucks in this league is chump change. No way the Bucs keep a lessor receiver when a better one is on the roster.

Someone else said, Perriman doesn’t seem to do well in other systems. So he could be cut and wind up back with the Bucs again.
Grayson is a blocking beast, I watched him out his face right in the pile and move dudes like he was Godwin.
I would hate to have to decide between a few of these guys. Cut downs are really tough, as GOB pointed out.

Yes, Net. If we can keep the right guys and be set at WR for the foreseeable future, why would we keep someone that would be elsewhere or out in a year or two? For one million dollars? No way.

I know it may seem sadistic, but if we are gonna have injuries to WRs, I’m hoping it happens early.
Jereth Sterns won the college triple crown for a reason.
Darden, Geiger and Thompkins are all similar in my eyes.
Darden seems really young to me.
Rojo struggled with confidence and Darden seems to be on the same path, while Sterns seems really mature.
I think we keep 7.
Big 4 with Johnson, Miller and Darden.
I would love to see Sterns on the team, but probably practice squad with Thompkins and Grayson.
I also hope we keep Borregalas as the kicker.
