Bucs Should Lock Out The Media For 2020

June 29th, 2020

Some readers here may not realize Joe is a Bucs fan before anything else, and that is why Joe is calling for the Bucs to get clever, creative and smart when it comes to the media, The Sickness and Tampa Bay’s win-now-at-all-costs 2020 season.

Joe and the rest of the mouth-breathing, finger-sucking media should be locked out of One Buc Palace and the Den of Depression for the season. There is zero reason to risk the heath of the Bucs and their success. Too much is on the line for fans.

Quote all the science you want, the safest route is to keep the media outside One Buc Palace and any stadium level Bucs players and staff are on during game days.

Yes, media drives the NFL year-round. But players and coaches easily can be made available via conference calls and 1-on-1 chats. The Bucs easily could let approved media watch video feeds of training camp practices and report on them. Fans — and the media buzz the team loves — wouldn’t suffer if the Bucs media relations team is on the ball.

Team Glazer also could further leverage their in-house media (who Joe assumes will go through regular virus testing and be around players all year) to provide more diverse coverage for fans, the kind that better reflects what’s actually happening on the field.

It’s a nice thought to have things be almost business-as-usual for media covering the Bucs, but Joe would prefer the media get locked out entirely and the Bucs be innovative to counter whatever they feel they’d lose by not having media around the team.

Joe keeps hearing Bucs officials talk about how they will stop at nothing to field a winner. In these wacky times, that mindset should be executed to the extreme, especially with a wildly-talented roster that could be just one season from needing a rebuild job.

The media is locked out for one Presidential candidate already & that seems to be working out just fine for him.
I’m sure they will find a way for the media to do it’s job….it is a vital part of sport and must be preserved.

  2. El Buco Realisto Says:

I agree with Joe!!!!!!! Rather lock out the media for a football season, rather then nothing at all!!!!!!!!! All it takes is a little imagination, and they can make it fun!!!!!!!! What about cardboard cut outs of the media in the press room and a player will answer up to 5 questions thru and promoted with twitter??????? What about other players doing bad impressions of the local media interviewing a player??????? Just like the draft that was successful, there are several ways to entertain and inform!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Yes….and, I’m waiting for ElsuckoPessimisto’s attack on my post (no matter what it is) He even attacks me when I agree with him……one sick sick dude we need to see gone!!!

  4. Roy T. Buford Says:

I’m all for that idea. Anything to reduce explosure will help. Also, and quite frankly, though I hold season tickets and really get into being at games, I’m leaning much more heavily towards a leauge wide declaration of empty seats. Even if they do things like sell no alcohol, prohibit tailgating, and require masks, there will be jackwagons out there that end up drunk, unmasked, and spewing droplets. I’d rather have football and watch it from home than have the season cut off halfway through due to even larger spread. Get the vaccine out, and let’s get fans back into the stands next year.

  5. Rob Tanner Says:

Like others I agree. Not that I care, but the poor patriots are going to be screwed if this happens league wide 😂

  6. Bradinator Says:

It would make me very sad not to get practice reports, but they just have a tendency to make me too optimistic. It’s underwear football. Give me a couple of pre-season games OR use Drones for the practice notes. The media could be quite a ways away, still social distance from each other, and still get nuggets of info. If they really wanted to, the Bucs could live webcasts for press and fans that would normally show up for the training camp practices. They can limit the amount of fans allowed online. Lots of options nowadays for the camp practices I would think. During the season, it’s likely Live Feed type things for the pressers.

  7. El Buco Realisto Says:

While the call for to “lock out the media” is a start, the “real” fans are asking for more in these dark times!!!!!!!!!!! We demand for “real” leadership to rise up!!!!!!!!!!!!! The sheep applaud when the Bucs hand out a couple cans of food and say how proud they are of the Bucs for being a part of the “community”!!!!!!!!!!! If this is true, were is the leadership now????????? Were us the announcement, saying that the bucs will forfeit all games unless the covid numbers do not get under control!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Were is the leadership saying that they will not put players and community in danger until, the community takes responsibility!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about preaching about some austerity today for a better tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tampabaybucfan asked for a campaign, so The “real” fans will soon restart the campaign to place The Buc Realist, as the elected president of Tampabay!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is right!!!!!!!!!!!! PRESIDENT of both counties!!!!!!!!!!! First campaign platform will be No Sports until the community numbers of covid get back to under control!!!!!!! Second campaign platform will. E to dredge an island in Tampabay to host all three sports complexes!!!!!!!!!! Between a shared wall of all three will be the huge industrial AC unit, The energy company will own and supply the largest solar panel roof of “The Bay Complex”!!!!!!!!! There will be a lite rail hub on the island!!!!!!!!! All old land will be turned into large park’s for the cities!!!!!!!! With a small parking lot and rail station on each!!!!!!!!!! The island can only be reached by rail, or ferry boat!!!!!!!!!!! Lite rail will then be expanded to maximum people movement and goods shipping!!!!!!!!!!

I will offer the VP position once again to stpetebucsfan who once graciously agreed long ago ,to be my running mate!!!!!!!!!! So as your fuhrer errrrr I mean president, I promise of austerity today for a better tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Mike Johnson Says:

Our Bucs put themselves in this position. The media did not do it. Whoever came up with this Brady or nothing philosophy is pretty nuts. And to top it off, you give him 2 yrs of guaranteed 50 mil money at 43 yrs of age? Brady has gotta be laughin all the way to the bank. Then to add insult they give 10 mil to Gronk who has yet to finish an entire season since 2011? Desperation is one thing but sheer stupidity is quite another. All the Bucs had to do was wait. Move up in the draft and get your Jameis replacement. But no Arians is chasing his ring..not ours guys.
2 yrs or bust. Don’t blame the media blame the Bucs.

  10. SlyPirate541 Says:

    10,000% DISAGREED.

That 10,000% is equivalent to the Bucs profit growth in 2020.

The Bucs ARE THE NFL right now. Signing Brady, signing Gronk, Tom moving the Tampa, secret practices, no masks in private practices. Every sports site is almost all Bucs all the time. The world cannot get enough. Most people didn’t know The Bucs were an NFL team two months ago.

    Keep the hype train rolling.

  11. Buczilla Says:

Sounds like a good plan to me.

  12. ©MadMax Says:

Roy, youre killing me, lol…..the masks dont do anything other than make people feel good….go do some research lol

  13. Mike28277 Says:

Joe: great post. Very reasonable during this time.

  14. Stanglassman Says:

Mad max- You realize that you sound like a crazy person, right? Please share your resource searches so we can all have a good laugh.

  15. Seminole Bill Says:

MadMax – here’s an article from the Mayo Clinic about masks – https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/coronavirus/in-depth/coronavirus-mask/art-20485449

That article says this about cloth masks – Asking everyone to wear cloth masks can help reduce the spread of the coronavirus by people who have COVID-19 but don’t realize it.

  16. «Delusional Intelligence» Says:

¿Wouldn’t that mandate have to come from Zeus (Roger Goodell) and Mount Olympus (The NFL)?

  17. unbelievable Says:

Unreal people still claiming masks to do nothing.

The level of ignorance in this country never ceases to amaze me.

  18. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

    Fine by me.
