Defense Came To Play (WHAT?!)

November 13th, 2016
Brought it today.

Brought the heat today.

Joe almost cannot believe he is about to write the following, though it is very true.

The defense of the Bucs manned up and balled out today. Yes, really!

Except for a fluke play of a Hail Mary at the end of the first half, the Bucs kept the talent-laden offense of the Bears out of the end zone.

Can you imagine?

Eddie Royal, Alshon Jeffery, bratty Jay Cutler, and the Bears could not score a touchdown over a sieve of what the Bucs called a defense the past two weeks.

Joe thought surely the Bucs would get lit up by Cutler today. But no! Instead, the Bucs picked off Cutler twice, sacked him four times and held him to a pedestrian 182 yards on 16 completions.

Folks, that is balling out. Joe is impressed.

After the game, Dirk Koetter noted the defense may have been too lax in the past couple of weeks so he encouraged defensive coordinator to let the dogs out. And the hounds hunted.

Props to Smith and his assistants for noticing what was wrong and trying to change things up, not just crossing fingers for something to change without change.

We are going to hear all kinds of theories why the defense was dominate today!!!!! From changing the pass rush formations to some saying that it was because derrick brooks called them out. But the main reason was they were not playing 2 of the hottest offense’s in the NFL and they got Cm98 and RA91 got healthy!!!!!

Props to Joe to recognize that the defense carried the team in the first half and actually writing an article about them instead of 5 straight articles of the offense!!!!!

Defense did play well for a change. This is a game most called for a Bucs win before the season began. Who would have thought the Bucs would be the only winner in their division this Sunday? Logjam developing.

Sounds crazy, but I would have liked to see ME out there on that Hail Mary at the half, but I would’ve worried about Conte hurting him though

  9. Maze Says:

Lovie Smith would’ve got curb stomped by the Bears today. Improvement

So he finally let the dogs loose. I wonder what took so long.

One game and now the defense is back huh? How about giving this kind of effort all season long/ Hell, we’ll take the next 8 games. All of you know, we cannot do this for 2 consecutive weeks in a row. We have proved it. 4-5 says you are a below 500 team. Wanna impress fans? Win 2 in a row. I dare you!

I agree with u, be mindful, we played the bears today n not the chiefs n seahawks our next two opponents. I would like to c if Conte (int) in McDougal (fumble recover) can show up n ball without profiting based on their teammate/s performance. And, mcdougal almost fumbled on his fumble recover. An all american high school corner n safety could have made the same plays if they were in the game today. Credit goes to Brate, Ayers, NSpence, Winston, n Marpet. Dotson is garbage! DSmith is soft! Both will b the culprit of cutting Jameis career short. Conten McDougal r Arena league material. Conte missed three for sure tackles today n shouldve batted the ball out of the endzone on the hail mary. Y wasn’t Hargraves playing deep on the hail mary? IMO, this game was a fluke for Conte n McDougal. Gee…we need help at safety ASAP!!

I want to get a petition started for us to play a schedule rotation of Cleveland, SF, and Chicago. I don’t want to play anyone else. It would be great.

Before today, if they “let the dogs out” they’d just run away and you’d find them at the local SPCA cowering in the corner. But today they came to play. Good for them.

They also looked great in the last two wins before the last two losses against OAK and ATL. Those teams were just as bad- if not worse – than the bears. I caution everyone to take this season week by week. I’m 95% this week’s offense or defense won’t show up next week vs the chiefs.
