“Very Undisciplined Team, Probably The Worst I’ve Ever Been On”

November 9th, 2014

“Dear Historians, Did you hear what Gerald McCoy said about the 2014 Bucs?”

Wait a minute!

Timeout!

Gerald McCoy spent two years playing for Raheem Morris but implied today that Raheem’s teams were more disciplined than Lovie Smith’s.

This is very disturbing.

McCoy addressed losing and penalties after today’s Bucs home loss to the hated Falcons. McCoy, like Joe’s never seen him before, was struggling for words.

“I usually know what to say. At this point, guys. I don’t know. I don’t know anymore. I don’t know. I know we’re going to keep going. I don’t have no answer. I really don’t I’m sorry.

“We gotta be more disciplined that that. Penalties can kill you. A lot of the points in the game we were at because of penalties. Very undisciplined team. Very undisciplined team. Probably the worst I’ve ever been on as a collective, as a unit.”

Now Joe never thought Raheem’s teams were that out of control, despite all the chatter. You don’t have a bunch of fourth-quarter comebacks like Raheem’s teams did without a reasonable level of discipline and preparation.

Last year, Greg Schiano’s bumbling Bucs had a truckload of penalties and Schiano couldn’t figure out how to stop them. The toes-on-the-line approach worked in 2012, but crumbled last season on the field.

Today, Lovieball was riddled with screw-ups, 10 penalties for 79 yards, plus penalties declined by the Falcons. As Joe joked during the game, at least Da’Quan Bowers did something — lining up in the neutral zone.

Of course, discipline falls on coaching. No excuses on that one. They surely can’t blame the crowd noise.

Raheem is laughing he got more out of way less. Raheem still sucks but so does Lovie.

  2. WalkdaPlank Says:

    Speaks volumes coming from Gerald.

I want this assclown Liar Lovie back in his basement next season. Not allowed within 100 miles of the Bay Area. And he can take his lapdog with him.

  3. Harry Says:

We have certainly gone backwards. I just don’t understand it. Is it even possible that both Schiano and Raheem are better coaches than Lovie??? I just can’t believe that. But that is exactly how this team is playing. WTF???

  4. DB55 Says:

    #93.

Shhhhhhh. I suck less talk more tackles. Shhhhhh

  5. Ray Rice Says:

Hey Aunt Geraldine it all starts with you Captain. How bout saying, “I disappeared in the game again, Again no sacks for me, I can’t beat a double team, Im making a $hit load of $ to be mediocre.

  6. Ghost Says:

I think Lovie is inept at hiring personnel, eg: Mike tice in Chicago, Tedford, Frazier, Ect……

  7. DB55 Says:

*you suck. Less talk more tackles

  8. DB55 Says:

    Ray Ray

You know Geraldine has to leave after the 1st qrt to get to amscot on time. They need more time for bigger checks.

  9. Ray Rice Says:

The real #93 plays for the Cardinals. Calais Campbell. Another DT that earns his $ and is able to beat “the double teams” that everyone so loudly argues. He even lost Dockett for the season. Do you see him making excuses. Nope. He just steps his level of play up more. Something Aunt Geraldine cant do.

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

ASJ needs to be horse-whipped for his penalty…..

And J Banks needs to quit letting defenders put their face on his hands….

  11. Mike J Says:

Er, isn’t there a saying involving pots & kettles, or something??

  12. billy buckaroo Says:

    Either somebody isn’t learning right
    or
    somebody isn’t teaching right

    but it isn’t right

  13. DB55 Says:

    Mike yup

  14. DB55 Says:

Alex just called sapp and told him to come get this garbage out the backyard.

  15. JSmalls Says:

Barron got a sack on a crucial 3rd down tonight. Fire Lovie, hire Greg Williams!

  16. Ray Rice Says:

    @Jsmalls

I wanted Williams as our DC. HC will be good too. The guy always has a competent D.

  17. Frank Pillow Says:

McCoy was invisible out there today. He’s a good player, but FAR from being a great one. Great ones make everyone around them a little better. Sapp was a generational talent…remember before Rice entered the picture Sapp was allowing guys like Marcus Jones to post double digit sacks. Gerald’s presser was as lame as his effort today. If you’re wearing the C, then brother, you’d better step up the leadership and HOLD your teammates accountable for their lack of discipline. Gerald’s a bit of a cupcake in this regard…we won’t ever hear stories about weight room throw downs during his reign as the alpha. We need that kind of passion, player again. He’ll Geralnd should watch McCown’s presser. They guy may be a marginal QB, but listen to him own up to 1-8, hold himself and the team accountable. Perhaps the most damning indictment of this season is Josh talking about Arroyo ‘growing’ as a play caller. If it’s really as bad as that bit sounds Lovie should be s-canned immediately following the season. Not brining in some help and or going into the season with ZERO NFL play calling experience is inexcusable.

  18. Ray Rice Says:

    @DB55

    Amscot lmfao

  19. Jerry Says:

We are going back and forth here…
First Gruden was too tough, then Raheem wasn’t tough enough, then Schiano was too tough, now Lovie isn’t tough enough.

I think fans and the media need to decide what kind of coach they want to get because no one ever seems to be happy with the demeanor of Bucs coaches. Either they aren’t tough enough or they are too tough.

  20. DB55 Says:

    Joe
As Joe joked during the game, at least Da’Quan Bowers did something — lining up in the neutral zone.

Ironic part is that #91 wasn’t even on the field it was #93 in the neutral zone, better yet he was offsides, jumped before the snap. That’s like 5-6 times this year. Hi kettle, I’m pot and I’m black. Geraldine got issues and I’m yet to see him get triple teamed but what do I know.

    Mark = 1st @2:18

  21. DB55 Says:

Damn twice in the same quarter. Don’t say anything Geraldine shhhhhh.

  22. DB55 Says:

Omg 3 times?!?! Lol you gotta be kidding me. Rotf

  23. Matts17 Says:

This team is completely devoid of discipline. That is the hallmark of bad teams AND bad coaches.

Clueless Lovie should send a message to these dumbies and cut Koenan. Right now. He’s been horrible all year. While it’s largely symbolic, it would send a message to this team of thieves.

However, I doubt any action will be taken as this regime continues to stare blankly into the abyss. I live in this twon my whole life and I’ve seen every form of bad Buc ball possible but today I say in all sincerety

  24. Matts17 Says:

….I hate this team more than any other. And that’s say something considering this team’s inept history.

  25. Skyline Crew Says:

Worse team under Lovie. No excuses!

  26. Waterboy Says:

I haven’t said this all season but I thought the Bucs played decent ball today but the officials definitely weren’t their friends! I’m still puzzled by several calls during that game but the mysterious hands the face call against Banks that gave Atlanta first and goal prior to their final TD took the cake! That would have been 4th down and a field goal situation instead of 4 more downs to score and go up 24-17 instead of 19-17.

Can we fire this a$$ hole already??????????? No patience to type another word…

  29. Nick Says:

Difference between Raheem’s team and Lovies, Raheem was the first coach to jettison talent. 3 coaches later, we have this mess. Go ahead and Fire Lovie and see what comes next year

  30. Matt Says:

Wow McCowns presser was intense. I also saw the interviewwith Mike Evans and he was pissed too. At this point I want us to ccontinue to lose to get a better draft position but I want to see them play harder to give McCown another shot next year. He made quick decisivedecisions today with marginal playcalling and below average protection. He is athletic and tough. Watch McCown play even better next week.

Man, Mike Evans is going to.be a superstar, there were several other errant throws bc of protection and he good have easily had 10 catches.

I see what Lovie sees in Sims, he’s gonna be a vwry solid nfl RB. That fumble was a rookie mistake he’ll get better. Hes a good complimentary back, Rainey needs to be our starter he is very slippery in space and has excellent vision.

That defense was pathetic. Ugh, there is not one positive thing to say. The reason we get so many offsides is bc our leader gets them all the time and monkey see monkey do.

  31. FanOfBucs Says:

That is truly a depressing comment.

I am in full on doubt-mode over Lovie.

  32. FanOfBucs Says:

All of you ppl saying McCoy stinks would do well to acknowledge that they are impervious to facts and live in an alternate and diluted reality.

  33. sho-nuff Says:

He played?…I thought sniffles sat out those 2 years with a “rare” biceps tendon tear in each arm?

    Wouldn’t you guys LOOOOVVVEEE…
…to get a free agent that actually earned their contract… not contract a disease in a toe that the team knew was a problem when they bought your broken a**, or not not come from the Jamarcus Russell school of “baller” and get lazy after you gots paid
…or get the coach you really want..the actual first choice…not a coach that lied on his resume and didn’t know how to play call…or the luck of getting what we were told is an actual forward thinking offensive coach go lame before he even starts(sound harsh?…sure…I see zero value in something that isn’t doing something for this team…BUST A MOVE and get someone else fast…the position is effn EMPTY!!!!!!!
…or have a top pick not have “rare” defects that keeps him out for 2 seasons..or another one be so stupid that he can only play 1 way, get traded away

IT’S ALWAYS SOMETHING…I COULD GO ON AND ON…ALL I KNOW IS THAT YOU DRAIN YOUR FANS WITH YOUR S*ITTY LUCK AND RELENTLESS STUPIDITY…

  34. Buc1987ForJameis Says:

So is McCoy trashing his teammates this time or Lovie Smith?

  35. buccanAy Says:

So in your pathetic, lil simple minds…McCoy is the problem? You inbreds don’t deserve an NFL team, and probably wont have one much longer. I’ve never seen a more ignorant fan base as this, or maybe, most likely unique to this site. Gerald McCoy is way down the line as far as problems for this team, but morons always reach for low hangin fruit….its what makes them morons.

  36. buccanAy Says:

mr 87forjameis….are you saying his teammates and lovie should not be trashed? But WWWOOOHHHOOOOOO we got a RAPIST QB that will make everything better….right….freakin idiot

  37. BirdDoggers Says:

The losing is wearing on the players. A lot of fans have checked out and the players will start checking out too. This season has been an absolute disaster for Lovie. He has no excuse. He inherited enough talent to be competetive and turned over the roster to bring in what he thought were better players. Bad coaching, bad execution and a lack of discipline. This team has made no progress in 6+ years.

  38. Cannon Fire Says:

Gerald McCoy looks good on tape and disappears in the clutch. All show and no go

  39. Kaptain Morgan Says:

When will the first ‘Fire Lovie’ billboard show up on Tampa’s roadways?

  40. ufcguy Says:

This team is a disgrace . I want to slap lovie across his face and tell him to just stop. Every week same excuses. You are the kings of inept and creative in the ways to screw up just about any possible positive things that can happen in the game. All I can say is we are terrible in every aspect of the game and we should be ashamed of it. You don’t hate losing enough. You’re soft#! No heart pride or work ethic to be great. If you had any of these things we would see it on the field. You fold in critical situation and the fans are sick of this joke we have of a so called professional football team. You make me sick!

  41. Java Says:

Dumbinik’s one good draft pick probably regrets resigning here. Or he should if he likes winning

  42. Kaptain Morgan Says:

I do doubt the Glazers will want to pay another head coach (on the payroll) and not coach this team by firing Lovie after 1 Season and starting over again. I do believe Morris is off the payroll, but they are still paying Schiano. I do believe they would fire Lovie if they were not already paying Schiano unless Lovie shows something in the remaining games. I know it’s been only 1 Season, but to be this bad in both Offense and Defense and after the players he wanted as Player Personnel the Bucs went out and got…Lovie has to be accountable for this awful season!

  43. Ana Says:

If I performed at my job, like the Bucs perform at their jobs, I would be looking for a new job long before week 9, and I’m a stay at home mom!

  44. ToesOnTheLine Says:

Oddly speculation abounded in the media that Schiano had lost the locker room last year yet not much chatter about Lovie losing it. Listening to McCoy it sure sounds like they’ve tuned Lovie out if they are playing this undisciplined. So great that we have a proven NFL coach with a winning history.

  45. Fort Myers Dave Says:

BirdDoggers said: “The losing is wearing on the players. A lot of fans have checked out and the players will start checking out too. This season has been an absolute disaster for Lovie. Yeah there is complete incompetence on the coaching staff; for the life of me I can not figure out why Arroyo was allowed to call plays all season, the Bucs could have hired an “advisor” ala Butch Davis but no that costs $. The ST coach is an embarrassment and should have been let go after the Lamb game. And Leslie Frazier’s D is simply not getting it down either. Lovies’ 3 major play teams all failed. And the rot goes past Lovie for assembling this staff and L&L for their FA signings. One must blame the Glazers too; they started digging this hole when they fired Gruden and went cheap with Rah; then fired the lax low salary coach, missed on the Oregon coach Kelly and settled on Schiano who is an exact opposite of Rah in coaching mannerisms except that he probably came cheap too as did his assistants who were hired very late as the Bucs took so long to hire Greggy in the first place. Next comes Lovie, he was hired quickly, giving him ample opportunity to get the best assistants available yet we are still looking at a 1-8 mess. Man the Glazers have to own a good chunk of the blame; its almost like they are trying to create apathy to give them an excuse to go to LA or London or perhaps join the Raiders in a quest to go to San Antonio…… Man the Glazers suck as owners since Malcolm got the stroke!

  46. Frank Pillow Says:

FM Dave’s post lays it out nicely. To be clear, I’m not saying McCoy is this teams problem…but I am questioning what his role is in executing a solution here, relative to the locker room. The fact is he was a non factor out there against a marginal OL. The only time I noticed him was amidst the rash of encroachment penalties that were called. Tough to then pick up the mic and call everyone else out for being undisciplined. I don’t want to hear how we has no help and was doubled all game…that’s going to be the case for the bulk of this kids career. If he and or we can’t process that and expect at least one firey, meaningful play to jump start this D, I’m not sure why he too would/should be immune from criticism. Step it up Gerald. Time to take it to another level and simply refuse to accept losing. Talk to Hardy about how he handled himself and the locker room back in his day.

  47. Stranger Says:

    “McCoy is a non factor”
“The guy that eats triples teams all game is a non factor”

I don’t know what to say about some of these comments. Its like some of you don’t know the sport at all.

  48. White Tiger Says:

I’ve been listening to folks tell me how lucky we are to have McCoy…but honestly, I don’t see it. People love to talk about how McCoy will be much better than the STUD that was taken before him (and now on the Lions roster).

Sometimes he shows up on tape, doing something good…mostly just talking though. See, I’m used to Sapp saying things like that and not scoffing – because the guy WAS ABLE to make a STOP – when the team really counted him…he disapperas…

I then start comparing how McCoy, Sapp, and Suh carry themselves. They’re considered dangerous mean men –

I see a guy that’s average. Not spectacular, not awesone, just average…but does have a tendancy to speak AS IF he’s already DONE something.

Could someone remond me on this, because I don’t recall, did McCoy have a sack today?

Why is this guy even talking?

  49. sho-nuff Says:

White Tiger…can you believe he makes more than JJ Watt?…a freaking tackle who made 1 tackle yesterday makes more…wow

  50. Bucfan66 Says:

DB55 is right. It was McCoy jumping offsides 3 times on the same drive…

This happens more often than you think. Everyone raves about McCoy’s lightning fast first step, but all he does is try to jump the snap everytime.

This guy needs to look in the mirror before he criticizes the rest of the team…

  51. tom in st augustine Says:

isn’t geralds comments a direct reflection on the coaching staff? especially the coach since he has the FINAL say so! after all, they are the ones that picked these players. just saying.

  52. teacherman777 Says:

I thought we looked pretty good yesterday.

We just cant win without sacks. Bottom line.

The NFL is the toughest league on Earth.

This is just a really hard game to play well.

If players drink alcohol like Joe, and party, they will rarely ever be great.

Smoking herb is fine, just look at Ricky Williams. He was still healthy at 33, but drinking? It destroys the brain and body.

Scientific fact- alcohol kills brains cells. Marijuana CANT.

    Think about it.

No one plays past 40, except Doug Floutie,

so if players could just avoid drinkking and partying until the acge if 40, they can retire and drink as much as they want after 40.

I want a team where no one drinks beer, but they smoke twice a week.
