Ross Tucker: Bucs “Clearly” Best In NFC South

November 4th, 2026

Kenny Gainwell breaks free Sunday.

An old offensive lineman must love how the Bucs have, all of a sudden, transitioned from a pathetic pee wee passing offense into something that would make Woody Hayes proud. It’s the most remarkable thing Joe has seen this NFL season.

Winning games by bludgeoning opposing defenses feels like something you’d watch on a black-and-white TV, like some old 1930s newsreel showing Red Grange highlights.

CBS analyst Ross Tucker, a former NFL offensive lineman with a series of podcasts that may be the best football-centric ones on the interwebs, took to his pod this week and spread the love thick on the Bucs.

“That is back-to-back games where the Bucs have just totally dominated another team in their division,” Tucker said of the 16-0 Bucs’ beatdown of the Dixie Chicks. “I mean, dominated physically up front, both sides of the ball, running them over on the offensive line, giving up nothing on defense right now.”

And Tucker made it clear. Despite the Bucs being 3-5, the NFC South landfill’s best team is your Buccaneers, baby.

“The Bucs look like they are clearly the best team in the NFC South,” Tucker said. “Super impressive turnaround, and they’re doing it by just running the rock.”

“This Joe” caught hell for a take on WDAE radio Monday night and in writing here yesterday: This may be KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles’ best coaching job. And he could still lose his gig.

Ordering a transformation of the offense like this mid-season is virtually unheard of, going from straight trash to dominant damn near overnight. Was it too late to save Bowles?

I mean, Todd has earned his position where he is with the decisions he’s made, and I do feel bad, because finally the defense looks great (even tho 99% of the fans hate what he does… Or doesn’t do with the pass rush) and it’s the offense that is atrocious. We still have a ways to go, but barring another collapse/ more L’s, it’s looking more like Todd will be the coach next year. Idk how to feel about it. The defense was the biggest issue I had, now it’s cooking, I still believe he will NOT lead us to a chip, and I would hate to waste talent, but it’s hard to be angry and not be excited when the team is winning. My mind says no, but my heart says yes kinda situation we got here.
