Jason Licht Praises Zac Robinson
November 3rd, 2026
How much was Bucs offensive coordinator Zac Robinson struggling early this season?
The sad results spoke for themselves.
Joe also heard various ex-coaches and ex-players point fingers at Robinson. Jay Gruden (Chucky’s brother) even noted that Robinson didn’t appear to know what he was doing.
In came undrafted rookie free agent quarterback Jalon Daniels. He looked prepared and ready for the challenge. That was a point for Robinson. And then Daniels won a Thursday night road game at Dallas and made a couple of big-time throws in the process.
And now the Bucs lead the NFL in rushing by hundreds of yards and are sporting a two-game winning streak.
Though it’s unclear if the Bucs have a necessary passing attack, it is clear that Robinson is making a comeback.
On Sunday, Joe was intrigued to hear Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht praise Robinson on the team’s radio pregame show (98 Rock), but he put a timeline on the kudos.
It was October-only love for Robinson.
“I think Zac’s done a great job putting our guys in position here to succeed starting, you know, the last few weeks,” Licht said.
“And ultimately it comes down to execution and physicality up front. And I think our guys are up for the challenge.”
Again those comments were on Sunday’s pregame show. Licht’s take proved prophetic.
Joe is enjoying the mauling running game. Again, the Bucs lead the NFL in rushing yards and average more than five yards a carry.
However, in the next two games — at Chicago and at Detroit with a bye week in between — Robinson will have to prove he can craft a consistent passing attack, one that exists beyond the line of scrimmage.

Chicago and Detroit stop the run about as well as Atlanta.
November 3rd, 2026 at 9:44 am
Chicago became a giant run game test when they got Simmons. Guy is a beast.

Can’t wait for Sunday. What a test

Definitely curious about the passing game & Mayfield over the next couple of weeks but I’m a little more curious about the defense.
They have been outstanding lately, but the Bears offense is no joke and they’re very well balanced

Jury not even out yet. Still in courtroom watching game film testimony to determine the verdict.
Grab some popcorn. 🍿

Defense isn’t our problem; lack of offense is.
Bucs’ offense currently ranks #20, and the TEAM has scored 178 points. But defensive players have scored 16 of those points (interception return, fumble return & defensive extra point return). Our offense has put 162 points on the board after 8 games, barely 20 PPG average. Problem is … our offense has scored in the teens FIVE times, and we’ve lost 4-of-those-5 games.
Bucs’ defense has taken care of business for the most part, and in particular in creating 16 takeaways … ranked #1 in the NFL. Each one of those takeaways not only stopped a drive, but many gave our offense excellent field position. Of significance, it looks like the Bucs have scored 48 points on 11 of those takeaways. And our defense scored 18 of those 48 points. Not too shabby.

The only passing that worked consistently for Seattle last night was the kind Zac likes, And the Bucs don’t have ESB . Good luck.

CYA circling the wagons

translation of JL’s comments :”Don’t expect any roster changes at the trade deadline or coaching changes in January. That is all.”
November 3rd, 2026 at 10:04 am
Robinson hasn’t been great but I doubt he had Baker fumbling 3 times in his Cincinnati game plan. Robinson probably didn’t call for Ted Hurst to drop the game winning touchdown versus the Browns either.
November 3rd, 2026 at 10:08 am
Well no one thinks we will beat Chicago ,, everyone calling the Bears a SB team,,, so it’s gonna be tough but we still get to play the game and find out
November 3rd, 2026 at 10:10 am
Will be at the game Sunday. Dont expect us to win but keep it close is what im asking.
November 3rd, 2026 at 10:10 am
We need to build off this running game with some play action. Have some tight ends and WR peel off blocks into the flats. We can get chunky that way, as long as it isn’t raining buckets lol
November 3rd, 2026 at 10:10 am
Atlanta beat the niners??
Any Given Sunday
November 3rd, 2026 at 10:12 am
Right there with you Joe. The passing game has to come together here and now. What we have been doing is, to put it honestly, embarassing. Gotta give Baker credit he reigned in the moxie Sunday and refused himself those save the day plays. But he has got to get the ball out and down the field at some point. Likely gonna need it this week agains tthe Bears. Get him some plays to our dudes Zac!
Go Bucs!
November 3rd, 2026 at 10:14 am
Love the Bucs running game but a non-passing game is not sustainable. Opponents will easily adjust to a one dementional offense and third down conversions will tank.
The Bucs are trying to hide the fact that Mayfield is having difficulty gripping the ball. But they are not fooling anybody. So they better either run Daniel’s out there or go get a veteran in a hurry.
November 3rd, 2026 at 10:18 am
The Bucs will need to play a clean game against Chicago and need some luck too. Maybe Chicago will have a let down after their big win last night.

Passing behind the line of scrimmage isn’t really even a pass. It’s an extended running play. This seems like some sort of hybrid West Coast offense type of thing. We saw it during the preseason, so it is definitely part of the season long gameplan. Of course, this type of game script only works if you keep the other team form scoring and you don’t turn the ball over. If the opposition gets up early, there is little chance to come back. On the flip side, our offensive & defensive lines have been able to control the line of scrimmage making it very difficult on other teams.
November 3rd, 2026 at 10:26 am
Snow, rain or sleet will slow or stop the passing game for both sides. That would favor the buccaneers.
November 3rd, 2026 at 10:38 am
The real test comes this Sunday, and then against the Lions. The Bucs’ defense is playing lights out. We’re supposed to beat bad teams like the Panthers, Cowboys, and Falcons, but we have to see how we match up against good teams as well. If we lose to the Bears and Lions, then we’re still a below-average team that can beat bad teams but loses against good ones. Then, Todd should still be fired along with the whole staff, including Jason. If he finds a way to turn it around and we make the playoffs, and maybe win one game, then sure, he’ll probably be retained another year.
November 3rd, 2026 at 10:42 am
I meant this Sunday against the bears.
November 3rd, 2026 at 10:45 am
Just to add…if Robinson can’t scheme people open playing off the running threat the Bucs have developed, he doesn’t deserve to coach a pee wee offense, let alone the pros.
In other words, almost 900 yards of rushing in 3 games puts him in a brilliant position to succeed. He deserves praise.
November 3rd, 2026 at 10:48 am
the offense needs to get over this passing hump/slump. yea yea monsoon, yea yea, carolina.
the thumb is still a huge question mark.
that said the defense is prone to gaffes and will get poked downfield by the bears passing attack. they’re just human, they are going to give up some scores. with AWJ back the finger pointing will resume when they get burnt.
its too bad the defense didnt do more in those early losses. or even against the steelers. they way they folded in OT was unfortunate. 12 plays 70 yards, i hope the defense doesnt allow the bears to do the same thing if it’s close.

Accountability by every offensive player is a must specially BAKER!
I don’t want to see a predictable offense. And I don’t want to see Baker giving the ball away.
A bad game from Baker and I’m calling to bench him. Let’s work with Jalon the rest of the season.
November 3rd, 2026 at 10:52 am
What I do like about what they are doing is the opposing defense is still not fully committing to loading the box out of fear of Tez or someone getting loose behind the safeties for an easy tuddy. As long as that fear is there, they can continue to commit to the run like they have. I do think once BM’s thumb is 100% we will see more play action with some screens sprinkled in. Just keep letting the Oline maul the opposing defense. Hitting someone and getting hit are two completely different sensations and getting hit consistently has a psychological impact. With that said, defensive players are not used to being hit, unlike offensive players. When the offense does the hitting the defense does not know how to handle it mentally and they start making mental errors.
November 3rd, 2026 at 10:54 am
There isn’t a whole lot of rhyme or reason to any of this season it seems. I guess that’s a good thing. The Bears had a pretty convincing win last night. Let’s hope they’re a little more tired and sore Sunday night .
November 3rd, 2026 at 10:57 am
Atlanta beat the niners..
November 3rd, 2026 at 10:58 am
Can’t rely on just running the ball the whole game every week though.
November 3rd, 2026 at 11:02 am
I will give Zac credit though, this is the best Bucky has looked in his career so far. Credit, to Zac and the Oline.
November 3rd, 2026 at 11:03 am
Anyone know how you can have -2 yards passing with no completions?
November 3rd, 2026 at 11:08 am
No. one thought we would beat the Falcons and we did.
Who really knows?
Go with what works, passing, running, or both.
I would love some information though
November 3rd, 2026 at 11:11 am
Wish we could skip our bye week. We seem to lose after them.
November 3rd, 2026 at 11:16 am
I watched the last 6 mins of the game last night… Chicago became a huge problem after they got Simmons. That man is a MENACE! We’re going to have our work cut out.

D.R.
Good to see you still around! Thanks for asking about me. Doing well. Swam my mile this morning so I’m happy!
Agree with your general observations. My question is how much does continuity impact performance. The OL seemed to get off to a slow start but realizing all five missed most of last season perhaps it took them awhile to get their cohesion back. Whatever the OL now looks like what we thought they’d be.
Bucky is clearly healthy and Gainwell is a stud as well. And I feel that Sean Tucker is not chopped liver but the two ahead of him are playing lights out, as is the OL in front of them. So the run game is the team’s strength IMHO.
As for the pass game. The OL was out of sync to start the year. Baker was not himself and then he got injured. He still doesn’t look as if he’s confident in his grip but Sunday’s game was in a downpour and Penix seemed to also find the ball slippery as well.
IF Baker gets healthy, Ebuka can return to form and CG can play well perhaps some of the young guys can also step up. I think Otton has been underutilzed in the passing game. Perhaps he’s too busy helping out in the running game.
November 3rd, 2026 at 11:49 am
Goodness, every team can beat every team. I think we all know that by now. Chicago at this point in time is a more balanced team than we are clearly. But they are certainly beatable. Simmons is a great addition for them. But the guy can be blocked for sure and we will certainly give him ample attention. We need a clean game on our side, and a turnover or two would help. We need to be able to run the ball effectively. No one’s expecting 300 yd against the bears. Or probably even 200. But their run defense is on a similar plane to Atlanta’s statistically. And we’ve shown that we can run on a dry field as well obviously. And we shall see. Stopping their run game is Paramount as is getting real pressure on their QB. We will also need to pass it a bit so this is the first real test for Baker since he’s been back.

Line it up ,, physical, mauling , time consuming offense !! Mentality is we are going to line up , run the ball and you can’t stop us! 1 game of 200 plus rushing yards is one thing ,, we now have 3,, Atlanta was a good rushing D coming in ,, Carolina held GBs rushers,, and Dallas is Dallas ,,, So perhaps we are that good at this . Now if you can do it against Chicago that’s the statement. The fact that ATL/carolina knew it was coming and couldn’t stop it gives me pause and I still think ZRob gave up on it during the Steeler game , not rushing, not using clock or we really should (could) have won that game.
