A Historic Day For Tampa Bay

November 1st, 2026

Run Bucky, run!

Joe still cannot believe what Joe witnessed today on the rain-soaked turf of The Licht House.

The Bucs won a game without completing a pass. And no, the players were not wearing leather helmets and the football wasn’t the size of a basketballm and the zebras didn’t use pistols to signal the end of the game.

The game for the Bucs was historic.

The last time a team won without completing one pass was over 50 years ago, noted Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press.

In September 1974, Buffalo, behind the running of O.J. Simpson, beat the New York Jets 16-12. It is just the sixth time since 1940 a team won without completing a pass.

The losing quarterback, Joe Namath, only completed two passes.

Other notable feats from today’s game:

* The Bucs set a franchise record for rushing yards in a game with 301 yards rushing.

* The Bucs are the first team this season to have four picks. Joe thought they could have had six.

* Bucky Irving (170) and Kenny Gainwell (116) each had career-high rushing games as the Bucs totaled 324. It was the first time a pair of Bucs running backs each had at least 100 yards rushing since Nov. 1, 1998, in a home win against Minnesota. Maybe the Bucs should play every Nov. 1?.

* Per Jeff Darlington of ESPN, the Bucs became the second team this century to lead at halftime in a game in which didn’t complete a pass. The other team was the Tim Tebow-led Broncos in 2011.

It’s almost like if you don’t let Baker lose the game, the team isn’t half-bad.

  2. SlyPirate Says:

    BAKER RECORD SETTER
Only $50m QB to play a whole game with 0 completions.
1st QB EVER to win with 0 completions and 3 fumbles.

Somewhere Winston is saying, “I could do that for $50M.”

  3. adam from ny Says:

i’m surprised the short yardage, protect the football throws, weren’t in play to CG14…

    i would have thought he’d have 6-8 catches for 50-60 yards…

safe boring catches that involved him YACing it up

  4. Buc in VA Says:

Crazy stats. Only thing that matters: Division W!

  5. ATLBuc Says:

Baker is better when he doesn’t pass!

  6. adam from ny Says:

also hurst needs to do better…catch these key balls dude..!

the tight ends were straight beasting out there today…love to see that…!

  7. Miller5252 Says:

Oline has finally started dominating the run game the last few weeks with little to no penalties. Atlanta run D was ranked number 4 before today and Tampa still dog walked them! Wirfs blowing the spikes off his cleats today blocking so hard!! Hope they made it out of this messy field with no injuries today because next week they’re gonna need everyone 100% and ready for a battle at the line.

  8. ModHairKen Says:

That’s good. More time for Baker to heal.

I don’t know how most people feel, but I love a team that grinds it out. This is as much fun as Dunn and Alstott.

And Goedeke’s helmet looked good, not like an unmade bed.

  9. adam from ny Says:

    and as i always say…

    PENIX IS A MEGA SCRUBBBBBB

  10. adam from ny Says:

been saying this about penix since day one

  11. Nate1976 Says:

Let’s beat the bears an go on the bye with momentum….go bucs!!!!!

  12. adam from ny Says:

we look like the division favorites now……..yes we do

  13. Lefty_R Says:

Well, John McKay always wanted to try the ‘Single; Wing!

I am just sorry, that I cannot find that quote!!!

  14. Oldbucsfan Says:

What’s his name, Michael picks or something?

  15. Erik with Unique Modern Art Says:

    adam from new york,

Baker couldn’t grip the ball at all. So we totally gave up on any pass attempts even super short ones.

  16. adam from ny Says:

at this point if this continues for the rest of the year…

    (which it won’t of course)

kenny gee will rush for 1000 yards 🙂

bucky will fux with 2000………omg like wtf……..lol 🙂

  17. BucEm Says:

Im fron Colorado but… My Wife My 2 Sons and I went to our first game today!! Just saying lol GO BUCS!!!

  18. Oregon Buc Says:

The legend of Bucky is growing week by week. Not gonna be too long before he approaches all-time Buccaneer, Alstott level fandom

  19. adam from ny Says:

bucs have revealed that we have a real issue with baker’s thumb…

he can’t throw – it’s actually quite a HUGE issue

  20. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Baker is gonna have to be a real QB next week and not just hand off.

  21. jimmy Says:

record setting game for the bucs. lots of great play all around, allowing zero points is the ultimate defensive performance assisted by a running game that again couldnt be slowed down never mind stopped.

  22. Gipper Says:

To the ever present anti Baker crowd, Bucs win handily in a Must game.

Mayfield threw 3 times and had 2 dropped one of which would have been a TD.

You morons don’t care about the W. You are only interested in ragging on Mayfield.

  23. Oldbucsfan Says:

After today’s game shouldn’t we be 1st in picks and 1st in rushing? I have heard #3 on defense.

  24. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Still haven’t scored > 20 at home looooooool

  25. DBS Says:

LOL. Baker can’t throw. So what was that Hurst dropped? If he threw in that slop today and it went in and out of the receivers hands and was picked you would be B!tching because he did. Itp worked out real well when Atlanta tried it. Baker didn’t try to play Hero Ball. Ow people are B!tching about that even when we win.

  26. DBS Says:

    ^Now

  27. Bosch Says:

    Bakers thumb still ain’t right.

  28. Rod Munch Says:

To the ever present anti Baker crowd, Bucs win handily in a Must game.

Mayfield threw 3 times and had 2 dropped one of which would have been a TD.

    ———

One drop. And Baker fumbled it 3 times. Bucs won with -2 yards passing on zero completions. Baker had a 2.6 QBR – which is the lowest number I’ve ever seen in my entire life.

Anywho, who is angry? It’s backing up what we’ve been saying this entire time – the team would actually be better off if Baker never threw a pass. Now we’re literally seeing that is true. If the Bucs keep winning, it’s great, and hilarious for all of us who have said the defense isn’t bad, the offensive line isn’t bad, that the issue was one guy. This is just proving that. So take the ball out of his hands, and wham, suddenly the Bucs start winning – which is what we’ve been saying for the last year.

  29. adam from ny Says:

the play where bucky got antoine winfield-ed by jesse bates was crazy…

we should have had 7 more point off that one…

lol…i thought only AWJ is allowed to do sh!t like that…haha

  30. Woodman Says:

We win with out throwing a completing a pass half the people are bitching about Baker . Geez .. That’s a good thing he was not slinging it around in that weather and that thumb .?

  31. robclwtr Says:

Exactly what I was thinking when that happened to Bucky, Adam

  32. Bucfan1988 Says:

    2 things:

    1) Hurst didn’t drop the TD catch. Mike Hughes actually hit the ball out of his hands right when he caught it. Y’all might need to rewatch that play 🤷🏻‍♂️

    2) 6th round draft pick tight-end Bauer Sharp is an absolute ANIMAL at blocking now!!he was running those motion wham plays and he was taking out dudes!! This guy may be the starting fullback/tight-end now…

  33. Gipper Says:

    Munch,

2 drops and you know it. Hurst drops a perfectly thrown TD pass. Gainwell dropped a flair pass that hit him right in the hands.

  34. Kenton Smith Says:

Erik with Unique Modern Art. Maybe it’d be better for you to stick to the Artsy Fartsy stuff. We didn’t give up on anything. Baker couldn’t grip the ball, you say? Yeah. Stick to the artsy fartsy stuff.

  35. Mark Maletic Says:

Baker is the general and this is giving baker’s thumb time to heal Lamar.Jackson just got the same injury today. This is also giving that running game a chance and the offensive line to gel to do what they need to do , to be the team that they can be. I wish everybody would go back and look at baker’s contract. He is not makin $55 million this year. He’s only making 36, and it’s 39 against the cap.The fifty five million a year extension doesn’t start till next year. Yeah, it was A52 year record. But also look at the losing teams, when Joe names was on the losing end of that same type of record, he only threw it for 2 completions. They did what they had to do to win the game. He’s throwing the ball in practice, just fine. But with the monsoon today during the game , he didn’t have to throw the ball. Look at what pennex did four interceptions and one fumble. Baker and the bucks had one fumble no interceptions. This is a win , take it as a win

  36. Lightningvinny1 Says:

When you line up 3 out of 4 games and tell the other team your gonna run it down your throat and they still can’t stop you ,, I think we have something going with our Line!!! Probably could have done it in the Steeler game took but ZRob gave up on it ,,,, we have an identity and Chicago ain’t stopping this run

  37. orlbucfan Says:

Just for the heck of it, start Jalen Daniels against da Bears. His hands aren’t injured so we can shake up the offensive game plan a bit.

  38. HamSamwyche Says:

@RodMunch : you can’t be for real… are you? It might be worth the 5 minutes of coding it would take to make an extension that filters out your comments and replaces them with “Some idiot still misses Jameis – friends don’t let friends huff paint then use the computer in the basement”

  39. Tampa2ATL Says:

Who gives a sh1te if we don’t pass when we set records for running the ball AND pitch a shutout?

dammit boy you didn’t read the story

  40. DBS Says:

Actually it’s you that’s angry Munchkin. We won the game so you can’t keep repeating for the next week in every thread “Baker singlehandedly lost the game” . Everyone here knows it makes you angry if you can’t.

  41. infomeplease Says:

Any W is a good W! Seems this O Line, RBs, and supporting cast of TEs, WRs, are getting the run game down!! Now let’s see them do the same with the passing game!!! Next week in Chicago would be a good time to start!!

  42. Joe Bob Pigskin Says:

Aaahhh….. Munch is back. I was missing the Baker hate a little.

  43. infomeplease Says:

Rod, for the record BM6 had a QBR rating if 39.6 but Penix had a QBR rating of only 12!!! According to yahoo sports site. So BM6 had a better QBR in this game than did Penix! For what it’s worth!!

  44. Gipper Says:

I have a hunch that it is more than a bunch, who really dislike you,Munch.

  45. geno712 Says:

    InfoPlease.

    Rod looks at QBR.
    You quoted Passer Rating.

    Two different stats.

Baker QBR was 2.6 — Baker Passer Rating was 39.6
Penix QBR was 7.1 — Penix Passer Rating was 12.0

I think Passer Rating goes up to 158.3 — QBR goes up to 100.

All the numbers are pitiful. Average QBR for starting NFL QB is 50. An average passer rating for starting NFL QB is 90.
