The Steelers And The Silent Cadence

October 15th, 2026

Revealed in a backhanded way today at One Buc Palace was that undrafted rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels did not have to go to a silent count in a home game against the Packers two weeks ago because of crowd noise.

Offensive coordinator Zac Robinson praised Daniels for handling the silent snap count for the first time in Dallas on Thursday night, another test Daniels has handled with flying colors.

Joe had been curious about the silent cadence because the Bucs have been forced to use it at home over the years because of visiting fans invading. That will be the case Sunday. It’s safe to say half The Licht House crowd will be wearing Steelers colors and swinging those annoying yellow towels.

Joe hopes Robinson and the Bucs are reinforcing silent cadence work this week in practice.

I think Cash was dead set on getting 5 outta friggin Jax, going into this one. When, all “I” wanted was FOUR. I said it earlier… Just give me 4. And, he did it. Especially, after walking the leadoff there, you had to pull him. HAD TO. DAMMIT.

Mel, wtf what are you talking about? Are you referring to the manager of the baseball team that plays in this area? And if so, why on Earth are you making that comment in a football blog on a story about the possibility of a silent count being used at a home game? Seriously dude. Weird.

The Bucs are fully aware of opponent’s fans regularly showing up at Raymond James Stadium. I’m guessing the years of dreadful play by the Buccaneers is still hurting fan appearances in Tampa.
The only way to stop Bucs fans not showing up for home games is to build a winning franchise. That’s on Todd Bowles and Jason Licht yo change the culture of the Buccaneers.

Yes, winning helps as far as home field however people have always come to Florida during the winter.. Like 90% of people on this blog aren’t from Florida! People leaving blue states now

Yet another example of this UDFA (a rookie at that) having what it takes upstairs. Per Marshawn, “he’s got his mentals right.”

    Impressive rookie IMO.

I’ll say one thing about people going to games in Tampa, locals understand just how miserable it is to sit in that sun, where these northern fans are ignorant or willing to do it for one game per season.

I’m not sure of the numbers but I’ll bet attendance at Dolphins games got better after they put in that roof thing. The experience is night and day at that stadium when you’re in the shade. If it’s too hot, a lot of people aren’t going to sit through 4 home games getting fried.
