Bucs Opponents Have 8-2 Combined Record

October 2nd, 2026

A bunch of folks at One Buc Palace think losing one-score games can be a somewhat positive sign.

Joe would counter by saying that’s generally a loser line of thinking because most NFL games are decided by one score or less.

This season, the Bucs have lost three games by one score or less and sit with an 0-3 record. Because of that, believers in the close-games theory might think good things are coming soon for Tampa Bay, and those same people also are probably whispering about how the Bucs’ first three opponents — Bengals, Browns, Vikings — are a combined 8-2 after Cleveland beat the Steelers last night.

On Sunday, the Bucs face the struggling Packers. They’re 1-2, and their Week 2 win was courtesy of a flurry of mistakes by the Jets.

Consider the Jets became the first team in 85 years to lose a game while holding an opponent to less than 200 yds, winning the turnover margin and having the opponent (the Packers) commit over 100 yards in penalties.

Green Bay’s opponents this season are a combined 5-4.

As poorly as the Packers have been playing, Joe thinks it’s fair to say the Bucs will hit rock bottom Sunday if they lose, a loss that would be their third straight at home.

Whoever thinks that at OBP needs to be fired.

When was the last time we had a convincing win?

It’s been so long ago, l can’t remember

  3. can-we-get-rid-of-licht-now-please Says:

hee hee I thought this was the “easy” part of the schedule – Browns Vikings Green Bay Pittsburgh – Dallas is favored by a touchdown then comes CHI DET BAL LAR LAC – and it doesn’t look like a “sweep” of the division either – sad time indeed

  4. SteveK Says:

Ok, can we blow a team out? Challenge the big brains at OBP to why they have a coach with a philosophy to let teams hang on. It’s so depressing watching Liam Coen tear it up, and to a lesser degree Dave Canales have successful offense employed. We passed on Coen to be HC to retains coach whose specifically is defense and it’s not even that good. Dumb move at OBP. I wonder if the “one score losses are good” crowd feels they should (rightfully) eat crow?

  5. Defense Rules Says:

    Losing is losing … period.

But the reality of those first 3 games is that the Bucs worked hard to beat themselves. Turnovers were very costly. Penalties always seemed to occur at the worst times. And so did dropped passes. Blocking sucked. Tackling sucked. WE BEAT OURSELVES, and that’s so typical of Bucs’ losses in the past.

That CAN be fixed however. The big question is WILL they be fixed.

  6. SteveK Says:

If we get our butts kicked the next three weeks, I hope those big brain folks at OBP can embrace “all losses are good” this season to get the top pick and a very good QB draft. Either pick a franchise QB or auction off the pick. But mediocrity should not be the goal. Either win or lose and go all in on either. I’d rather have an awful season this year, get the change needed, and then get a franchise changing player and earlier draft slots, rather then just miss the playoffs and cling to “hope”.

  7. Lakeland Says:

Everyone keeps bragging about the talent we have on this team

But talent football players don’t miss a lot of tackles
They don’t miss a lot of blocks
They don’t drop a ton of passes
They don’t turn the ball over often

It’s time this team plays up to it’s talent level

There’s a huge difference in having talent on paper, than on the field

So far, we have been a talent team on paper
And a disastrous team on the field

  8. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Good for them, but that doesn’t make the manner in which we lost to them any less alarming/pitiful/pathetic. Take the team name away and you see a team with an 0-3 record and averaging 2 turnovers a game, you don’t have to do too much digging to figure out WHY they’re 0-3 at any level of the game.

  9. Costa Rica John Says:

The Buccaneers have played poorly. I don’t care what the other teams records are.

  10. Lakeland Says:

If the Bucs beat these 3 teams.
They have a combined record of 5-5

Proof positive that winning is no longer the goal. Todd will never be fired.

Just keep it close and we’ll roll out a compliant lapdog media to spin this steaming bag of cow manure into fresh warm cinnamon rolls.

Everyone needs to purge this whole idea of easy games, easy wins, etc. The only easy game in pro sports is the one you already played.

  13. Smoke Porterhouse Says:

Part of that is those teams getting to play a Bucs team with a HC who doesn’t know what he’s doing and should be working at Dollar General in a non-management role.

  14. TBBucFan Says:

This is the must win game of the season so far. Be as positive as you want to be, and I try, but if they don’t win against the Packers, then it’s over. End of discussion. I truly think the defense can still be special but it has to be part of a team that wins this week.

its funny how before the bucs got beat by the browns the browns were the worst team in the league and it was just “the only thing we are unsure of is how hard the bucs are going to spank the browns. i mean come on, its the browns!!” they said.

now that the browns beat the bucs, the browns are heralded by all the losers at one buc place and this forum including some of the writers with “well of course we lost, it’s the browns!!”

groupthink and gaslichting at its finest.

  16. Davenport Says:

That’s the type of stat that creates another excuse for Bowles. His entire HC career has been based on excuses and getting the benefit of the doubt.

We were told to believe this was a good team. Good teams win games vs. other good teams.

This is not a good team.

  17. Hodad Says:

Love, or Daniels? Love hasn’t lived up to his hype, but I’ll take him over the rookie. Home field advantage to the Packers, sea of cheese heads. This is a get Green Bay right game. Packers 24 Bucs 10.
