Alex Anzalone Credits Todd Bowles Leadership For “W”

October 8th, 2026

A guy who spent the last five years playing for hypemaster Dan Campbell says Todd Bowles was the secret sauce to the Bucs returning from the dead to beat the Cowboys in Dallas tonight.

“Coach did a good job just changing our mindset as a team, you know, to get us going for this Thursday night,” Alex Anzalone said on the Amazon Prime postgame show.

Sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung wouldn’t let the Bucs’ linebacker off the hook. She demanded to know what Bowles did or said.

“Man, he just did a great job leading the team, team meetings, throughout practice saying the right things changing the mindset of the team,” Anzalone said. “You know, going 0-4 is never easy. There’s a lot of outside noise. We just came together collectively.”

They sure did. The Bucs defense almost looked like a playoff unit. Joe said “almost” because the Bucs were sackless for the second consecutive game, and Dak Prescott dropped back to pass 42 times.

But as a group, the Bucs sure didn’t play sackless for a change. A beautiful thing.

  2. Muscle Hampster Says:

Took him 5 games to find the sauce unfortunately

AA finally made a non-embarrassing play…and an actual good one. I was sure that he was going to bobble then drop the INT. But to his credit…he made an athletic play on it making it a no-doubter.

This win feels like a loss. So many penalties. So much poor game management from the coaches. And then the dropped pick 6. Bucs were very lucky the Cowboys D matched them penalty for penalty.

Todd Bowles gonna shock the World

    Just watch and see

  6. TheBucsAnthem Says:

He’s always out of position or getting burned on a pass coverage play………he just sucks

That 0 sack Stat is not sustainable for consistent victories, not in this league. I’m happy we won. Another thing unsustainable? Bucky getting 20 touches. The field goal decision, well hindsight is 20/20, so I’ll call it a push. Should this win save Todd? No, it shouldn’t, barring a superbowl, he should go, whether he “retires” or is let go, either way, he should not be the HC for ’27.

Lakeland wanna bet they don’t make the playoffs?

a lot went the bucs way tonight…

except on that late 99 yard drive by the cowboys…

other than that we had things go pretty smooth, with a def sprinkling in of some luck as well…

    clean win……sorta…..but those OL penalties

  17. FloridaGirl Says:

Be happy for the win people……

  18. capnhowdy Says:

I’m happiest for Daniels. Young man’s dream came true tonight. First ever win as pro came in Jerry’s world of excess and hype. Proud of the team as a whole from coaches to players too though. No one played like it was over before it actually was, SUCK IT DALLAS!!

I really hope this is a turning point for the team.
Anzalone was a great LB in Detroit.
He was especially great in Coverage, and setting the defense.
Hopefully he has started feeling comfortable in this defense.

We could really use those talents.
He may have a few gallons left in the tank

I hope Coach Bowles keeps blitzing the QBs going forward.
This can be a good defense if he does

  20. Tampa2ATL Says:

Yes, sir. D came to play today, baby!

  21. WalkDaPlank Says:

Defense is coming together. If the OL and TEs can cut the penalties, they have a chance.
