Zac Robinson On Jalen McMillan: “He’s Wired To Separate”

Ready to launch on Sunday?
We should know by noon today whether Jalen McMillan will suit up for the Bucs for his first appearance in pewter and red — or, white on white, which the Bucs will wear Sunday in the home opener of the 2026 season.
McMillan has had a bum knee since he bruised it in training camp. He missed Week 1 but this week he was a full participant in practice. So it seems McMillan is trending favorably to suit up on Sunday.
In his weekly press conference yesterday, Bucs offensive coordinator Zac Robinson discussed McMillan’s impact on offense.
“He’s wired to separate, and he’s got great separation skills,” Robinson said. “He’s got great tools at the line of scrimmage. He knows how to set defenders’ leverages.
“I think he’s good, really, across the board. He’s just a really solid, sound receiver. He’s got great hands.
“His separation skills have been impressive when he’s been healthy out there, and we look forward to, if he’s able to play this game, having him out there when he’s ready to go.”
Robinson noted he scouted McMillan when he played for Washington and the traits Robinson believed McMillan had to become a strong NFL receiver were demonstrated in McMillan’s eight-touchdown rookie season.
Chris Godwin, Emeka Egbuka, Jalen McMillan, Ted Hurst… if you are a defensive coordinator, Joe wouldn’t know who you cover? Who do you take out? You only have so many defensive backs.

Not to mention Bucky and Kenny G… if Robinson is even the slightest bit competent this offense should hum if they stay healthy.
Now, if only we can do something about those edge rushers doing “other things”

When he plays, it seems like he is always so open. I have always considered him a great route runner. And Joe, please don’t forget about Tez. He stepped up for us last year in a BIG way and he deserves his flowers.

A healthy Jmac helps this team immeasurably. Baker trusts him and he has to be dealt with by the other team. If Jmac comes on and stays on, we have a potent WR core. This is exciting news. They can’t focus on Buka without getting burned elsewhere. Browns have a reasonably decent secondary so this should be a good test. Jags destroyed them. Hopefully, we can do the same. LFG!

Separation is part of the equation, still need the timing of throw and the proximity of the pass need to be in sync with JMacs ability to win. Keep the blue tent balls to a minimum and he might be able to be something we didn’t have this past weekend, a consistent vertical threat.

All the fire power touted by the Bucs receiving group pretty much laid an egg in Cincinnati.
Let’s see if eating humble pie wiil make a difference against the Cleveland Brown in Tampa. No matter how they win it will be deminized because it’s against the lowly Browns. Hey a win is a win in the NFL. Playoff teams play at a different level and the Bucs need to elevate their play significantly if they want to play in the postseason. .

Watched the bills punch the lions hard and fast. Had flash backs of us because the lions were wide open much of the time. Especially in the middle of the field. Blown assignments COST THEM DEARLY..
After the first and Quick 21 points were slapped out of the lions qs they stand wobbly and shaken, they finally started to get themselves together and started to put up a fight. Of course… It was too little way too late after a 21 point body slam to start the first quarter .
I hope we’re ready to play ball and we WANT THIS!
I point out plenty of the reasons why it’s not working. I NEED my team to give me reason to talk about WHAT IS WORKING in order to have a different conversation. So far “Special Teams” is the brightestight we’ve seen. Better than nothing but not a lot to talk about just yet much yet give me an opportunity to change my mind.
I WANT TO WIN! If we Do… I’m SURE I won’t be as PIE SSED OFF!

??? Zac is the OC, he hasn’t thrown a pass in a game setting since the 2010 Cotton Bowl. He did go 13-31 for 118 yards and 4 picks, yuck lol
