As the clock ticks toward the eulogy for this Tampa Bay season, Joe wonders when Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht and Team Glazer will turn toward stocking 2027 draft capital and freeing salary cap room for a new coaching regime.
Yes, the Bucs can still make the playoffs.
Joe also could start taking ballet lessons and embracing a vegan lifestyle. Highly unlikely.
Licht has a roster stocked with desirable talent. And as the Bucs march toward the NFL trade deadline, Tuesday, November 10, it will become smarter and smarter to trade a few of those pieces.
Joe would have no issue starting with Vita Vea.
First, Vea asked to be traded over the summer and he has a mighty fat contract. He’s a quality player, but is it realistic to think Vea will be on the field for the next Bucs Super Bowl winner? Of course not. Vea turns 32 in February. Grab a draft pick and help your next head coach.
Joe also would look at dealing linebacker Alex Anzalone. He played well yesterday but he’s 32 years old. If a contender has a linebacker injury, Joe could see Anzalone becoming in demand. (Joe wonders if Anzalone negotiated a no-trade clause into his contract.)
Contract-year edge rusher YaYa Diaby also should be considered. He turns 28 next season and it’s hard to believe the Bucs will want to pay him his market value. Take a draft pick and run.
The Bucs’ list of valuable players to trade is long. Joe won’t list them all here.
On offense, Joe would start shopping Sean Tucker and Kenny Gainwell. Shopping doesn’t mean a deal has to be made. It’s about planting the seeds of a future deal. Why would a non-contender need three established running backs?
If the Bucs don’t deal a couple of players and stock up on picks at the trade deadline, Joe will be very disappointed.

To insist on continuously calling THIS BUMB of a GM “ROH” is one of the most absurd things I’ve ever heard. This fanbase must really LOVE the abuse. Total Stockholm Syndrome. This “GREAT GM” is only 3-more LOSSES away from having a .399 ‘WINNING’ PERCENTAGE throughout his 10-YEARS, without having “Tom Brady” telling him WTF to do. Now, just let that sink in… 399. Cosmo, I’m concerned the Glaziers WERE the ones who got the Vea & Mayfield deals done. Not a coincidence that they were on the field days before both signings. Licht may have been the one holding out on both. We may never know though.

What was telling about the way we used Yaya is that we took him from lining up over the LT and put him over the RT, when Walker was in the game. Then Walker came in Yayas’ spot and legitimately out played him in limited snaps by comparison. At this point, I say keep Walker(and his moveset) in the game and make Yaya & Bain rotate. It’s not going to happen as cleanly, but it needs to happen eventually.
As much as I love CG and this is not due to any fault of his own, but even with his cap hit I’d think about moving him because it’s not like we’re maxing him out. He’s getting open and even making plays, but we’re wasting he & all of our WRs time.
Cade being targeted the way he was yesterday was not some new thing. In game played with Evans over his career Cade averages about 4.6 targets a game.
In the games Evans has not played, Cades average targets in those game almost doubles to 7.7 targets a game. It’s been thing since 2023, and it has nothing do with Cade nor the OC, considering we’ve had different guys and they all can’t fall into the same habit. So, by way of deduction that means it’s a habit and tendency of the $55M man

Huh? Name the talented players, quickly! Lol…this roster isnt good and neither are the men that built it. I told you this would happen. Enjoy it Joes! Yall were hyping up Baker and this roster all off-season talking about injuries were the reason for the losing 2025 season. Welp, that excuse is up in smoke and you’re faced with the reality that these players aren’t that good. Especially Baker. But this ownership is so dumb that they’ll probably bring everyone back next season and write this season off as a fluke.

I have ZERO PROOF, but Licht hasn’t been a GM in a long time. Ever since Bruce Arians retired, he basically became Todd Bowles’ personal order taker.
Look at the draft trends. **Joe Tryon-Shoyinka** was literally taken in the 1st round just to be Bowles’ shine-and-dink “chess piece”—a guy dropped into coverage, moved all over the formation, and neutered as a true edge rusher. Same with Braswell…
Fast forward to **David Walker and Rueben Bain Jr.** In my opinion, these are the instances where Jason Licht actually put his foot down. Bain is a classic, pure 4-3 single-gap defensive end—he’s built to put his hand in the dirt and rip through tackles, not stand up and run pass drops. Licht drafted him purely on a “he’s too talented to pass up” basis, forcing a premium power rusher onto a head coach who either doesn’t know how—or stubbornly refuses—to scheme for a standard 4-3 1-gap front. Walker, in limited playing time coming off an ACL tear, looks like the best pass rusher on the team, but again—he’s a DE, not an OLB, so he barely gets to play. Bain being a 1st-round pick is the only reason Bowles was forced to put him on the field in the first place. Again, just my opinion, no proof…
Was it Licht or the Glazers who gave massive extensions to Baker Mayfield and Vita Vea, locking up an expensive, “OLDER” core???? The worst part? **Licht will NEVER throw Bowles or ownership under the bus.** He’s not going to rat them out or leak the truth about who’s really calling the shots at One Buc Place unless the Glazers actually pull the trigger and fire him first.
Trade anyone not on a rookie contract and let the next coach draft who he wants and build HIS team. If they want to work with Licht, great; if not, then he should go too, but I don’t think that will ever happen. He’s the Glazers’ lackey….

@ Bucnjim – No. Lickt was fighting HARD for the Baker-Extension. He was sick and tired of having to dance around the constant questions. He wanted it DONE so that his lazy ass could just move on. HE himself, even said immediately following the announcement, that when they started talking everything over, that HE JUST DIDN’T WANT TO HAVE TO START-OVER FROM SCRATCH AGAIN, FOR NEXT SEASON. And, you KNOW he wanted Vea too, because Vea gave them the BEST SHOT at winning, and therefore HIS OWN job security. Same with Mayfield, too. Because, you’re talking about a TRASH Division. And, if everything falls apart, he still at least has a better shot at keeping HIS JOB… Only, for lowering the next potential HC-pool. Since, NO ‘top-tier’ level HC (who would demand his own GM) would ever be interested in THIS JOB. Bucs management believes they have a playoff team so don’t expect any panic mode from the Bucs.
Jason Light’s only hope is to win their division which has been a bottom feeder in the NFL for awhile. This season is looking worse than last year (if that’s possible).

Because, THIS is not the same roster… Number-1. They are missing Mike Evans, AND they are OLDER, including Baker Mayfield, who we have LOCKED-UP for 3-MORE YEARS now, & at MAX-level MONEY. Number, 2… There were LOTS of “Smoke & Mirrors” that they were able to “cover-up” in a TRASH Division. Number-3, this roster is void with enough ‘high-end’ ELITE TALENT, to compete against the other TOP franchises in the League, top to bottom. And, there’s NOTHING that they can do to upgrade it fast enough, in order to CHANGE THAT. There is NO “instant” turnaround, or FIX. Not through the draft… And, NOT through Free-Agency, since our hands are now completely TIED, after the Baker Extension. And, definitely NOT with THIS GM. There HAS TO BE a complete tear down at this point, it’s the ONLY WAY. They are in DESPERATE NEED of a major influx of YOUNG TALENT. This Roster is NOT GOOD ENOUGH to compete for ANYTHING, other than JUST a NFC South Division… IF even that, now. So, it’s ALL FAKE. Just total FRAUDS. All of them. It’s a bunch of Smoke & Mirrors. They don’t have a Top-20 Running Back Room, WR-Room, TE Room, OR Quarterback Room (that we just laid Top-3 MONEY FOR LoL). I mean, there are only a HANDFUL of players on the DEFENSE, who you would even want to KEEP for a rebuild. NONE OF THEM “ELITE.” Bain, Trotter, Tykee, Parish, maybe Morrison (if he holds up health-wise), and YaYa. And, for the most part… EVEN, They are JAGS. Definitely NOT “ELITE.” I’m tellin ya… There is NO POSSIBLE WAY, that you came away from that BROWNS Game, and thinking that “OUR ROSTER” was that much better than THEIRS. NO. WAY. Fire Jason Licht. Why let this @$$clown do any dealing? He’s one of the main problems infecting the franchise. He is a clown who got lucky when Tom Brady came to town – 6 seasons ago. Fire Licht, appoint Ronde Barber interim GM, have Gruden be a paid consultant and put everyone on notice that this crap won’t be tolerated.
If Bowles doesn’t want to be fired and the Glazers want to save face, then Bowles should announce he is retiring at the end of the season. It’s pretty clear he’s just over it at this point. Whoever they decide to hire, it needs to a leader of men.

Man. Minnesota did play pretty good defense. Didn’t sleep well, thinking about how we can turn it around. Just spent almost an hour on the business ends of a weedeater, worked up a sweat.
My sober assessment. We need to see a different QB. It looks like Baker would improve by watching. Let’s see how this team rallies around Daniels. I think in Baker’s 3rd game of his rookie year, he came in the game and the team rallied that year. Jalon seems to have the right stuff. Baker will come back stronger for the playoff push, and we’ll know more about our backup quarterback position.
After the QB change, the next culprit is coaching. 2 weeks in a row, we get the ball, down 4 points and 3 minutes to play. That’s stuff that has to be executed timely, and called confidently, and that’s on Baker and Zac. Yesterday we got the ball with 3 minutes plus at our 30. Nice little swing to Gainwell for 12 yards and we’re at the 42. The next play call sealed our fate. 2nd and 15. We’re screwed. Looked exactly like the Cleveland game down 4 with 3 minutes to play. No excuses.
I don’t want to see Zac canned. Gotta give him a fair chance. But it hurts to think our defense has played well enough to be 3-0. Maybe let Robinson sit on the end of the bench with Baker for a few weeks.
Anyway, for now, it’s the QB and the offensive coordinator. This offense NEEDS an identity. I also think Zac show signs of fear of being aggressive, and Baker, too.
We can get better this year. Not a doubt in my mind, and not a doubt in my mind that it needs to start with those 2. The OC and the QB.

Any of you geniuses ever think another Head Coach would want the option to decide what talent stays and what talent goes? Ariens came because of the talent assembled on the team. Believe it or not, there is a lot of talent on this team. A new coach can trade the players he doesn’t want for picks. a talented team is much more attractive than a handful of mid/late round picks.

In **Todd Bowles’ 3-4 defense**, the big defensive linemen don’t just run straight into the backfield. Their job is to grab the offensive lineman right in front of them, block him back, look to see where the running back is going, and then **push the blocker out of the way to the left or to the right** to make the tackle. They control *two* holes at the same time. The guy in the middle (the Nose Tackle) is a huge human whose only job is to soak up two blockers at once so the linebackers can run free and make plays.
A **4-3 defense** (like the old Bucs team with Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, and John Lynch) does the exact opposite. They don’t wait or read anything—at the snap, every guy on the line has **one specific hole** to shoot through and run straight up the field. Warren Sapp was a “3-technique,” meaning he lined up on the guard’s outside shoulder and blew past him into the backfield to wreck the play before it even started. Brooks and Lynch looked like superheroes because Sapp was causing instant chaos upfield. Expecting a 3-4 lineman to play like Warren Sapp is like expecting a heavy-duty dump truck to drive like a Formula 1 car—they are completely different jobs.
When you take a guy who spent his whole career as a classic 4-3 defensive end—someone whose whole game is putting his hand in the dirt, pinning his ears back, and exploding around the edge—and stick him at OLB in a 3-4, you’re completely throwing off his instincts. Instead of just letting him use his speed and bend to wreck the backfield, you’re asking him to stand up, lock up with tight ends or 300-pound tackles to set the edge, and read where the play is going.
Even worse, in Bowles’ defense, that “edge rusher” ends up dropping back into zone coverage 10 or 15 times a game to cover tight ends or running backs in space. Why would you take your most dynamic pass rusher and make him stand around in coverage while the quarterback sits comfortably in the pocket? It’s the same exact problem: you’re taking a pure, gifted pass-rushing specialist and turning him into a read-and-react fluid linebacker. It takes away their best physical gifts and asks them to do things they weren’t built to do.
Let me know how well that plumber fixes that outlet, or how fast and well that electrician unclogs your pipes.
Can anyone do these things? Yes. YES, THEY CAN!!
Will they be the best at it—or even good at it, though??? That’s the question…

I think it was the Glaziers who pushed to get the Mayfield & Vea deals done. Doesn’t make sense that both deals weren’t even close to being done until the owners show up then a couple days later, they’re both done? I’m betting Licht didn’t give them what they wanted so they went to the Glaziers who gave the OK. Owners’ money so they can do what they want, but I wouldn’t be so quick to think it was Licht writing blank checks.

Had to come back to tell some of you that you are morons again. Melvin Junior specifically.
You guys don’t realize how inept Todd is as a HC. How changing OCs for 5 straight years is a detriment to the whole team.
This is the biggest indictment on Licht, keeping Todd around way too long. There is plenty of talent here. Licht had built a team with plenty of talent in order to lure Brady here. Brady didn’t trade for, draft, or sign JPP, Suh, Barrett, Wirfs, Winfield, Jensen, Davis, Dean etc etc.
If you don’t have good coaching, a good QB and/or a game wrecking defense… you don’t win a SB in this league. Good coaches and QBs don’t just grow on trees. Licht got Arians, got Brady, built up the D and won a SB.
Prior to that, Licht was just gonna pluck a SB caliber QB outta thin air? Sure you can point to coaching hires and some bad draft misfires but you can do that for 90% of the league!
I can blame Licht for being to attached to Bowles and his draft picks. None of us were upset about the Winfield extension. Otherwise I still see a top tier GM, outside his Bowles blinders.
This roster, with a coaching staff from 10-15 other teams is 2-1 or 3-0 right now. No doubt in my mind. Bowles and his D have been fine to start this year. Bowles as HC and Zac as OC are on the lowest rung of the NFL coaching ladder.
Why would some other team trade for our guys? Call it good sense, call it a big ego, call it whatever you want… a contender with good coaching will see how these guys could fit and help them win. Around the league these people see what we see. A dysfunctional debacle that reflects the coaching.
Baker isn’t just washed all of a sudden. The OL isn’t just trash all of a sudden. The Bucs have a real good WR room. The Bucs have a huge OC problem. Somewhere Grizzard is laughing.
If you need evidence of this, look no further than the 3-0 Raiders. Kubiak has already done more in a month with Cousins than Robinson did all last season. Look at the disparity in talent there. Bowers didn’t even play the first 2 weeks. Cousins had Tre Tucker and Jeanty, not London and Bijan.
Look around the league and this truth will hit you in the face. Goodbye, God Speed Bucs fans.

It would be nice to unload some salaries of underperforming players, but realistically, trades rarely happen. You also don’t wanna get rid of guys who could help make this an attractive job for a future head coach.
I’ve gone from Baker believer to Baker skeptic. I am concerned that the Baker commitment for the next few years will scare away decent head coach candidates.

I am also not so sure that the Glazers weren’t the one’s who pulled the trigger on the Baker and Vita extensions. If it was all on Jason, then he needs to be fired because of it. We have to remember, that he also extended Winfield, Godwin and Zion among others. He also signed Gainwell to a $7 million deal and Tucker to a $2.5 million deal and these guys are either being misused or not used at all (Tucker). In my opinion, both Jason and Todd need to go. Let’s blow the whole damn thing up and start over. Unfortunately, we are stuck with Baker and his fat contract for another 3 years.

The Giants just traded for JJ McCarthy.
With Baker’s injury and future in question and a rookie UDFA next in line, this would have made a lot of sense.
This franchise, GM and HC are just not forward thinkers. They over evaluate their own players.
It’s just time to tank with Daniels and clean house.
I wouldn’t be nearly as upset right now had the Bucs done the right thing and NOT have resigned Baker.
I’m not sure what really good HC/GM want to come to a team where they are force fed Baker.

It’s a STRUGGLE for this offense to get 20-points. It was also a REAL STRUGGLE getting 20-points LAST SEASON, during this current stretch. So, it’s not all on Z-Rob. There have been receivers OPEN EARLY, and Baker is not helping himself, or anyone else. But, Bottomline… You CANNOT tell me that on OFFENSE without ANY “ELITE” Playmakers is “LOADED,” then you need your fricken head examined. Nobody should be untradable. Even wirfs, as much as we all love him, could be considered if price is right. He had a bone on bone injury last offseason. The only treatment is experimental injections. He might still be pretty good for now (has he ever regained his best form?), but something like that is degenerative as far as I know. Our time with him at pro bowl form is limited

It just wasn’t a fair fight yesterday, against THAT Defense versus THIS ROSTER. The only thing that kept us in the game was Kyler Murray, and Jefferson being hurt. That’s IT. Flores has created 50-PRESSURES already this year… #1 in the league, by a long shot. Our Defense kept us in the game AGAIN.

Wirfs will be old by the time we rebuild. I would trade everyone over 25 or 26 years old. Godwin, Winfield, Anzalone, Vea, Wirfs, Baker, I would gut the entire mess! Id also tank get pick 1 and trade that as well for as many picks as possible!
By the time iw as done we would be set up properly for a complete rebuild. Granted we would not be competitive for a few years but when it was over we would be good for 10-12 years.
We cheated a rebuild once after Brady left its with 80 million in dead cap space but stop wasting time lets rebuild.

I like the Anzalone and Vea trade ideas, but I really think that we should keep our younger players, like Diaby, and guys who are performing for us without taking up too much cap space, like Gainwell. If we do a rebuild, it should be prioritizing and keeping the young defensive talent like Diaby, Morrison, Walker, Smith, obviously Trotter and Bain etc. and removing the fluff by getting rid of guys like rozeboom anzalone and vea. Keep Winfield since he’s only 27 and still has proven talent, and we actually have the base for a really young and strong d-line as well as at least one guy to build the secondary off of. I think people are in the “clean house” stage of the season which I understand because I, too, pull my hair out watching these games. However, we all know that this is a product of coaching and a lack of coaching leadership or culture. If you tell me next season we bring in an ardent offensive-minded head coach with a pragmatic and similarly ardent new DC I won’t think twice before tuning in. Another thing I wouldn’t hate to see is Licht quitting this penny-trading method he does with free agency next season especially if we clean up our cap space from the older guys. Licht has been sucking in terms of trades and staff management, but I can’t say he’s left us with a team of bad guys-just guys that are going on their second and third season still unrefined.

It would be maybe a ‘slightly’ better version than Bowles 2.0. A ‘deffensice’ coach, who CAN’T call plays. CAN’T develop a QB. Offense illiterate. Runs a LOOSE locker room. Over 80% of Pittsburgh FANS had wanted him GONE FOR YEARS. Just STAGNANT. And, the game has passed him by. Outside of only about THREE Head Coaches in the league right now (McCarthy, Payton and Reid, who are both QB-whisperers, and GENIUS play-callers), the current trend in BOTH the NFL and College Games, are these super ‘aggressive’ high-energy YOUNG Guys, who are all in their 30’s and 40’s. NOBODY wants anymore OLD RETREADS. It’s a new day.

Technically, we can lose 7-8 games and potentially make the playoffs. So I’m not giving up yet.
I figure things will get better as the defense gets more experience. And I am hoping Daniels turns into a Brady-type of situation. Hoping.
Either way, Jalen will get real game experience now. I figure he’ll have some growing pains…and 3 weeks about how much I am willing to tolerate for him to improve with the experience.
Meanwhile, I feel bad for Baker. Although he was playing rough, he does have it in him to play much better. And the OL and Drops did not help him at all. Would have been a totally different game if not for the drops.
As to the refs. I get calling penalties on the OL. What I don’t like is how they gave the Vikings no-calls on three face masks and more.
In this division, 10 wins is likely enough to make the playoffs, and once there, anything goes. Potentially.
