Tristan Wirfs: “Ridiculous” To Have Two-Hour Delay With Two Minutes Left

Joe is not going to pull a loser move and claim the Bucs lost because of a lightning delay. Still, Joe doesn’t think it helped.
On the Bucs’ last two possessions, Cleveland’s defense was sucking air, bad. They were just about shot if they weren’t already.
Joe thought Browns stud linebacker Carson Schwesinger was about to pass out. There was a timeout and Schwesinger went to one knee and his body hung over so much his head damn near touched the ground.
The last time Joe saw a player so out of it from the heat was former Bucs receiver Justin Watson in an early training camp practice his rookie season. He looked just like Schwesinger and eventually keeled over to try to gather himself.
But just like that, lightning delay! The overheated Browns got sent back to their air-conditioned locker room, get out of the Florida heat and rehydrate.
Again, Joe is not going to say the Bucs lost because of a lightning delay, but if it did benefit anyone, it was the Browns.
Bucs left tackle Tristan Wirfs was borderline outraged that the zebras didn’t let the two teams finish the game. The lightning delay lasted over two hours.
“I thought it was ridiculous with two minutes left in the game to call a lightning delay,” Wirfs said. [The front] “was 10 miles away.
“But I don’t make the rules.”
Joe thinks it was ridiculous for the fans, both the Browns fans and Bucs fans, and football fans watching on TV. Talk about zapping all the drama out of the building.

Tristan play better the first 58 minutes, take and keep a lead, step on an opponent’s neck, then the last two minutes don’t matter. This game was an embarrassment at home, all staff and most players. Your excuse is as bad as Todd’s. The other team also sat for two hours.

You guys are not going to believe this, but I just saw Mahomes hit a guy that was in motion, and put the ball in a place where he could keep running – not circus catch, no stopping and waiting, it’s the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen.

Bucs lost this game from the moment it started and kept it up the entire game. There is no excuse this game was so close. Bucs played an awful hard to watch game. Wirfs is making excuses.

Baker had a wide open WR in the end zone to win the game.
That’s where one of those weapons were, just waiting to catch the ball and win the game, and Baker instead missed him by a mile.
Everyone did their job on offense in the crunch… everyone, except for one guy.

Talk about the Brady Effect…Wirfs rookie year was outstanding with the help of TB. He fully admits that. And yet his career has slumped once Licht made him the highest paid tackle in the league ( anyone else see a trend here…Winfield, Zion and most recently VV and Baker ? ). Wirfs was on a Hall of Fame trajectory when Brady was around. I don’t believe it’s a sure thing anymore.

The blocking was ridiculous too, even though Wirfs seemed to hold his blocks this week. I think it’s more on the guards and center, seeing how quickly that pocket was collapsing. Enough excuses already. Now this primetime game is a fun one to watch, unlike our snooze fest against Cleveland.

BUT, I’d love for the media to stop praising this bum and call him out. Baker is at his best when he’s being ‘disrespected’ – at least that’s the rumor. So maybe if the media actually started calling him out, asking him why he’s say “we” lost the game when he had the ball in his hands with a wide open receiver to win the game. Put Baker on the hot seat and perhaps he’ll actually play decent.
When people are soft peddling things with Baker, he is normally a bad quarterback.
Anywho, maybe calling him out won’t work – but it would be journalistically the correct point of view, since Baker has sucked now for nearly an entire calendar year.

Look, the lightning delay is a huge inconvenience. That is until the day somebody gets bbqed. Some of us might not have noticed this, but both teams had to sit around playing pocket pool for almost two and a half hours. One team devised a plan. One team did not.

As sad as I am that the Bucs lost, I’m happy that Browns fans and media that wanted to see Watson lose so that he would lose his job for good and they would finally be rid of him, just got screwed. Those were the same fans that were willing to look the other way as it related to Watson’s indiscretions off the field if only he would win. They are a bunch of moral reprobates. If Watson were to continue winning, I don’t think those fans will ever be able to fully enjoy it.

Again, I’ll point out Baker had a wide open guy in the end zone, an easy throw for an NFL QB, and Baker missed the throw.
If Baker makes the throw, people are not happy the game is close, but talking about how Baker is “clutch.”
Remarkably, Baker misses the easy throw, and stories are about the coaches — who literally put Baker in position to win the game.

Well as a Florida boy speaking , having been struck by lightning 3 times in one lifetime, maybe it is worth stopping the game, if only for the fans safety in the stadium. I can tell you, it has life long effects. Imagine a concussion to your whole body with a zillion volts. Wirfs, you do not want it.

BTW, some more weather facts…
Despite being located in the lightning capital of the US… there have been literally ZERO recorded accounts of lightning hitting the seating area of Ray Jay in the last nearly 30 years. ALSO, there was ZERO recorded accounts of lightning hitting the seating area of Tampa Stadium, which opened in 1967. That’s not just during the game, that’s period – ever, at any time.
Additionally, RayJay literally has a lightning protection system, so even if the stadium was hit, it just goes to ground.
Meanwhile people have been hit outside of the stadium – which is why you should just stay in the stadium and not leave.
The nonsense about stopping a game because of a lightning strike so far away you can’t see or hear it, is just lawyer garbage. I completely understand if you got a lightning swarm coming, you can see it clearly, and it’s on it’s way – of course, clear out the seating area. But today, they could have probably finished the game before the storm got there, and instead shut it down and wasted 2 hours over nothing. And, at the old Tampa Stadium, I went to tons of games where you saw the lightning coming, and they didn’t ever stop the game unless it was actually getting close to the stadium – and again, no one in the stadium ever died.
Meanwhile you have dullards defending this nonsense like women, purely based on ‘better safe than sorry’.

Upon hearing that I’d have bet my house on the Browns! The team from the Glazers on down, should be embarrassed, humiliated, frustrated, angry and painfully aware of the required, immediate changes. I know I am. Go Bucs.

People made at Wirfs for saying the same thing everyone else said… the game was stopped too early, there was literally no threat, and then they kept it stopped for nearly 2 hours despite it being clear and sunny over the stadium for and hour and 45 mins because of a thunderstorm nearly 9 miles away, that wasn’t moving towards the stadium.
If people want to be mad at anything, be mad at the bum playing QB who singlehandedly lost yet another game.
