“Legit Puke-Level Reaction”

September 18th, 2026

It’s been a week but the memory lingers.

Joe asked Baker Mayfield this week if he tuned in for Mike Evans’ debut with the 49ers. And, if so, what was Mayfield thinking?

“I did,” Mayfield replied. “A little interesting to see him in No. 5. But Mike’s Mike, converting third down and catching fade balls in the red zone.”

Evans finished with 6 catches for 6 first downs and a touchdown in the 49ers’ win against the Rams.

Bucs legend Rondé Barber had a more visceral reaction to Evans’ first game for San Francisco, perhaps because Barber was in Australia for the game.

“There was legit puke-level reaction from me when I saw Mike come out in a 49ers uniform,” Barber said on his WFLA streaming show. “It was vintage Mike. Mike’s still got it, dude.”

Would the Bucs have won in Cincinnati if Evans were still on the Bucs? Joe can’t say that at all.

On Sunday, Evans faces the Dolphins. Perhaps he’ll do better than the 31 yards he racked up against them in December.

Will Mike Evans go into the Warrick Dunn waiting room for the ROH for slinking off to another team?

  2. McBay Says:

Mike made a mistake. Bucs have the superior organization, and the track record proves it.

  3. BillyBucco Says:

Pretty sure Mike already had his puke level reaction hearing he would have yet another Offensive Coordinator.

  4. 813bucboi Says:

    Brock>baker

    GO BUCS!!!!

  5. Steve V Says:

Mike knows the Giants are the best team in the NFC..

  6. Marine Buc Says:

    Huh?

    I loved that game!

Can’t stand the Rams (for multiple reasons)…

I loved loved loved watching the Niners (and ME13) DOMINATE the L.A. Lambs!

ME13 made the right move – GTHO Tampa and quick.

Get ready for another decade of Tom Brady-less suffering and depression.

    I love all Buc fans!

  7. Lakeland Says:

San Francisco has a great chance of winning it all
They have Raheem Morris as DC, that was a good hire by Shanahan
Rah is an excellent Defensive Coordinator
I think they have great play callers… offensively and defensively

Mike Evans made the right decision

  8. DS Says:

    Traitor Evans

  9. Baking with Robinson Says:

Mike didn’t want to get bored with same old defensive you know what!

Loyalty goes both ways. After December’s truth be told, the organization showed no loyalty to us or players and coaches by keeping the HC! Although we are probably waiting for Tomlin ext year since Harbaugh turned us down.

  10. AquaBum Says:

No Mike would have made no difference in the 4 turnovers. We produced just fine on offense without him

  11. BradyGronkFan Says:

Bucs paid BM the third highest salary. Why? NFL.COM has him ranked as:
    Rank
    22 Rank decreased by 8

    Baker Mayfield
    TB
    Year 9

Evans didn’t want to play no more with a 22 ranked QB paid as an elite QB.
Sad news, that isn’t even the worst of it. todd Bowles, the guy who got promoted to head coach after sinking the Bucs chance for SB repeat is still head coach.

  12. purplebeard Says:

I try to understand why Evans left. I saw the look on his face when baker over threw him late in the year. I saw bowles defense suck again. If a man like Mike takes a pay cut to leave, you know there is more that us fans aren’t seeing. I wish him the best. It’s just too bad TB didn’t throw in the towel on our HC before Evans decided to leave

  13. purplebeard Says:

To be fair, the TB defense lost a few of the games last year.

  14. Buc1987 Says:

BradyGronkFan…thanks for the opinion…but no one cares.

    You’re not a Bucs fan.

  15. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“To be fair, the TB defense lost a few of the games last year.”

    Which ones?

  16. purplebeard Says:

    3-24?

  17. BuccaDawg Says:

ME13/5in no longer a Buc &I’m not a 49ers fan. Out of sight. Joe write more about the Bucs less about him please imo

  18. purplebeard Says:

Don’t get me wrong; I’m not saying baker doesn’t shoulder some of the blame. But if a team get the lead and the defense chokes in the last quarter, the offense becomes desperate. And desperation leads to mistakes.

  19. Bucscoott Says:

Mike was so smart moving on did you see how SF took care of business! Buccaneers was same old slop

  20. BradyGronkFan Says:

Bucs1987, oh yeah, I’d say close to half around here care.

Bucs were run as a top notch football team from time Arians was hired to the last year he coached. Along with being gifted with about 10 years of high draft picks, they were primed to win MULTIPLE SB once Brady, Gronk, AB, and Fournet came on board. After, they Still had enough talent to make noise with Baker at a reasonable 3 years for 100 mil.

Brady always took a team discount and was a game manager for his first 3 SBs. BM played hardball and got more than he’s worth. Nothing wrong with being a game manager but BM thinks he’s elite now that he’s paid like one and will lose you games with that kind of thinking.

  21. Joe Says:

Joe write more about the Bucs less about him please imo

Joe has ZEE-row intentions about forgetting the greatest offensive player in Bucs history. Did Joe (or Bucs fans) forget Warren Sapp or John Lynch after they bolted the team? Absolutely not! To suggest Joe ignore Bucs greats is blasphemy!

This is like going to an Amish buffet with 70+ items to choose from and complaining the eatery serves green beans.

  22. BradyGronkFan Says:

And yes I’m crusty that Brady didn’t at least make a 2nd appearance in the SB with Tampa and had his only losing season with Bowles with some help from Leftwich. It’s incredible that Bowles got rewarded with head coach for losing against the Rams. Then escaped the following year by having Leftwich take the fall. Wait a minute, he escaped last year too btpy having Grizzard take the fall. Lol too funny.

  23. Josh Says:

Yeah, I wouldn’t have resigned Baker or Vea yet, and I would’ve tagged Evans. He was a Bucs legend—you don’t let him walk. It literally makes me nauseous seeing him in another uniform. Or maybe it was just those short shorts he had on in practice, lmao.

For real though, f*** the 49ers. And Mike Evans he said he wanted to be a Buc for life, but then bailed when they kept Bowles and maybe Baker???? He had it worse, or at least the same, forever (every year except the ones with Brady). He said that while Baker was the QB, so yeah, to me, it’s just like the snake in Jacksonville. I understand why you did what you did, but that doesn’t mean I have to root for you anymore. I’m stuck here as a Bucs fan while you bailed on my team, so screw you for even getting to bail, lmao…

  24. VancouverBuc Says:

BradyGronkFan 💯. You don’t have to be Cheerleader to be a Fan…call it the way you see it. Bowels blows, the proof is on the tape.

  25. VancouverBuc Says:

‘This is like going to an Amish buffet with 70+ items to choose from and complaining the eatery serves green beans.’ 😂😂😂💯

  26. Obvious Says:

Anyone that doesn’t realize that Mike made the correct decision has drank way too much kool aid.

Even with that old roster and in that division they still have a better chance at a ring than us.

  27. RV Guy Says:

    Mike who?

  28. Tony1775 Says:

Mike puked after 3rd & 28 last year. He knew Bowles wasn’t going to get him another championship and he don’t have much more time for one.

  29. magoobee Says:

Unless Evans was going to play QB, he was not going to alter the outcome of the week 1 game for the Bucs.

  30. Win in the Trenches Says:

they didnt have mike run a deep ball….. at all ??

  31. DBS Says:

Yes I for one forgot Sapp and Lynch when they left for other teams. I didn’t have a divorced husband or wife breakdown and couldn’t get over the fact they were a couple the greatest Bucs in history. It’s a business. People make decisions to change employers all the time. I Am not sorry I didn’t cry over them everyday after they changed teams.

  32. Simple T Says:

You guys upset cause your favorite stripper is giving lap dances at another club now.

  33. Kenton Smith Says:

WBL. Was your question for everyone? If so,
    1) our first loss- Philly. Jalen Hurts was 17-18 in the first half, we were down 24-3 at half although special teams gave up 7.
    2) Patriots scored 28 on 4 defensive breakdowns of over 60 yards each- first time in NFL in 20 years any team had that many breakout TDS.
    3) Bills- Josh Allen had 3 rushing and 3 throwing touchdowns. 6 total.
4)Rams- our defense was the worst they’d ever been
    5)Falcons- remember 3rd and 28?
    6) Our defense was last! in the NFL in the red zone!
    7) our defense was last in the weak NFC south division in points allowed
    8) our team had the lead in the 4th quarter 11 times last year and the defense couldn’t hold that lead 3 times

    Really, WBL. Move on.

  34. Beeej Says:

Did Mike move 3000 miles to be a slot receiver?

  35. Woodman Says:

Josh let’s see how the season plays out for Mike everyone is all giddy now but I am willing to bet he miss a few games just like he always does and will not have great stats we shall see.

  36. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    @Kenton

-Philly your boy & Bucky had 2 separate turnovers in the midst of that 2nd half come back

-The Patriots game we finished +1 in turnover and scored the only points we generated off 11 post-bye takeaways. Also had that sequence late in the 4th your boy and our offense couldn’t convert for 3 yards on 3rd & 4th down

-Bills another game where our offense couldn’t punch it in on a drive after the defense got them the ball at the 5 yard line, can’t run the QB sneak with Bake because he’s a hobbit. We’d have a better chance lining Vita up behind him to shot him in the

-Rams, how many picks did your boy throw in LA?

    -Falcons, INT late 4th quarter up 8 way before 3rd & 28

-Funny you didn’t mention the MIA game. Did you know in Bakers last 3 games for this teams he’s accounted for *checks notes* 7 turnovers?

Kenton, I’ll move on when you go back to cheering for whatever team was the team you followed before Baker got here, so you can go be a Brown Panther Rams fan again. Vauge post about everything else involving this team, until somebody, anybody says something about Baker you don’t like.

So you can tell them about whistling Dixie and all the other dumb sh** you say while cosplaying as a Buc fan.

  37. Will Says:

I’m going to, puke if I have to see another freakin Evans article. Who cares about him. Seriously

  38. Win in the Trenches Says:

    exactly my point ….

    Beeej Says:
    September 18th, 2026 at 3:37 pm
Did Mike move 3000 miles to be a slot receiver?

he ran a 5 or 6 yard pattern turned around caught the ball and dropped to the ground 6x s

not a bad way to use Mike he can last all seaon doing that…..

  39. HeavyE Says:

    ME13, will win a SB, before #6 will……Guaranteed!!!

  40. Been there since the beginning Says:

Sorry didn’t read the article here but, I have a comment though. Mike is gone people so, let’s move on my Bucs family. It’s time besides he left talked trash and I ain’t with it. Bye Mike, you see.

  41. Rod Munch Says:

Would the Bucs have won in Cincinnati if Evans were still on the Bucs?

    ———-

If he started at QB over Baker… YES, 100% they win.

  42. Gipper Says:

Wish all the Baker haters would get their dream QB in Kyle Trask. Baker doesn’t need to get the hell kicked out of him by missed blocking assignments by All Pro, Tristan Wirfs.

Meanwhile, we have 3 years of history with Mayfield in Tampa where he has thrown for more TD’s and passing yards than Josh Allen over the same 3 years. During that time frame we have had to put up with phony football experts like Rod Munch and his JoeBucsFan male girlfriends.

  43. Joe Bob Pigskin Says:

I’m glad for Mike. Let’s move on now.

  44. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Gulper shut up Moisty boyo. Nobody cares about Trask anymore except you because he almost beat out your 6th year vet wet dream qb on his 4th team and because Bowles was trying to save his job. So stop wearing Mayfield’s athletic cup as your COVID mask. I bet you got his face etched on your lil blue pills don’t you? You Jaymiss Mayfield fans are the reason Evans left Tampa.

  45. Kenton Smith Says:

I told you to move on, WBL. You’re stubborn and don’t listen. So… you and Rodmunchesconstantly, insist that our offense was as responsible as our defense for last year’s collapse.

Our teams leadership disagrees. Did you see our starting lineup last week? Egbuka was our only 2nd year starter on offense. The other 10 offensive starters were in at least their third year as Bucs offensive starters. Injuries plagued them but they’re healed up. The team extended Baker.

The defense got our first two picks and most of our free agent signings. Defense has lots and lots of new faces. They’re going to get better when they get those pieces in place. Played well enough to win last week if Baker hadn’t have blown the game.

So our front office down to the coaching staff and the best of their advisors pretty much decided that the defense was the obvious culprit in last year’s travails.

You’re a good football mind and a great Bucs fan, WBL. You and all Bucs fans oughta be all over Mayfield after that performance last week. I just think that this team is about to come together. And I ain’t whistling Dixie.

  46. Bucswincoverthestadium Says:

    Worthless article.

  47. Gipper Says:

    DavidBBF99,

Haven’t heard much out of you and the literary quality of joebucsfan improved because of your absence. Your endless non sequiturs and convoluted syntax are evidence that you have more deficiencies than a fumbling Mayfield.

  48. MelvinJunior Says:

@ McBay – The 49ers are just one of a handful, of the NFL’s ‘historic’ glamour franchises. And, “YOU” are trying to compare THEM with the Tampa Bay MARKET, and THE BUCS!? Really!? I mean, seriously. They’ve WON what 5-6 Super Bowls, and have been to like at least, 8 or 9 TOTAL!? So, you are comparing LYNCH to LICKT!? Bowles to SHANAHAN!? Purdy to BAKER!? McCaffrey and Fred Warner… To WHOM!? And, ummmm… Silicon Valley. ONLY, the ‘greatest’ place to be for any individual, with pockets full of STACKS of CASH, and a net worth of well into the 8-9 figure range. There’s NOT a more ‘beautiful’ place to be… If you HAVE Money.

  49. MelvinJunior Says:

@ purplebeard Says: “I try to understand why Evans left. I saw the look on his face when baker over threw him late in the year.”

Oh, so you saw that, too! It had been ‘building up’ for AWHILE. And, everyone else wants to act as if THEY never saw anything, at all. That, it was JUST over ‘one’ 3rd & 28 PLAY. He threw his hands up in disgust and shook his head over that late throw under pressure, when Mike broke off his route (like he was supposed to do)… When, Baker first acted as if he might even RUN there. There were several other BAD throws, and just way too many distractions. They were ALL just going through the motions, and were entirely tuned-OUT. Except for MIKE. And, HE literally worked his ass off in order to get back out there (when he didn’t have to even), in order to help make a Playoffs push. Just to end up coming back to THAT.

  50. MelvinJunior Says:

@ BradyGronkFan Says: “Bowles escaped the following year by having Leftwich take the fall. Wait a minute, he escaped last year too btpy having Grizzard take the fall. Lol too funny.”

And, Winfield Junior morphing into ED REED saved him in 2023, and then COEN in 2024. Now, let that sink in.

  51. unbelievable Says:

Finallly got around to watching the Raise The Flags series… just finished the SB episode (man that was great) and at the end they’re asking everyone who they think is the greatest Buc of all time…

and they ALL say Mike Evans.

    Bittersweet man.

  52. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Gipper Says: “Baker doesn’t need to get the hell kicked out of him by missed blocking assignments by All Pro, Tristan Wirfs.”

SERIOUSLY!? You’re going to complain and talk trash about (Lmao) TRISTAN WIRFS, while never willing to place ANY blame on BAKER FRICKEN MAYFIELD, EVER!? The ‘perineal’ ALL-PRO and on a future HOF trajectory TRISTAN WIRFS… Really!? GTFO. That’s some REAL ‘WEIRD’ sh!t right there. You’re a FRAUD. Talkin about JOSH ALLEN, as if it’s even close to being the same thing! LoL. It’s STATS, Dude… All EMPTY “STATS.” You’re only trying to fool, and convince JUST ‘yourself’ into believing that BS. Cause, NO ONE else, is buying such total NONSENSE. We all have eyes, and a brain. You’re just wasting your time, while only making ‘yourself’ look-like a complete FOOL. I mean, I could at least somewhat understand-it if it were an ‘obsession’ with a Quarterback the caliber, of like a Tom Brady. NO. Wait a minute… I CAN’T. Not for any “ADULT.” It’s sooooo strange. And, to have it affect YOUR emotions and mind like that. To just LOSE all your credibility, & etc. I mean, that’s just WILD. Over an undersized, mediocre NFL starter. It’s seriously, mind-blowing. Over a ‘professional’ fricken ATHLETE. Who is not even that intelligent, or even interesting, at ALL. It’s just straight up insanity. YOU chose to blame TRISTAN. WIRFS. NOT Baker. NEVER Baker. It’s DELUSIONAL.

  53. Buckit Says:

Apparently, the 49ers medical staff performed hamstring transplants on Mike.

  54. Steve Says:

    The Todd Bowles effect

  55. Scott McKirahan Says:

The Bucs averaged more points per game and Baker had a higher passer rating last year in games that Mike Evans DOD NOT play. If you throw out the piss-poor game against the Rams, the Bucs offense scored substantially more points without Evans. In fact, without that game, they would have ranked as the 9th highest scoring offense in the NFL last year (without Evans).

  56. FrontFour Says:

Could care less. This is not like other Bucs HOFer’s that the team let go. This guy abandoned the Pirate Ship.

  57. Gipper Says:

    MelvinJunior,

Somebody thinks enough of Mayfield and his stats to pay him $55Mill per year. Because you lost a 10th of your week’s pay betting $20 on the Bucs you are sore at Mayfield. You are a raving mad dog who needs be tranquilized. You ought to partner up with Oneilbuc and see if you can get a 2 for one deal with a writing coach.

  58. vadertime Says:

    One word. Traitor.

  59. Itzok Says:

This is like seeing your long time college girlfriend become a stripper or porn actress. It’s just disgusting.
