Geoff Schwartz Outraged By Bucs’ Disfunction

Something happened with the Bucs after or during last season’s bye.
The last time Joe has seen a good Bucs team fold like it has was in 2011.
The prior season, the Bucs got jobbed out of a playoff berth when Kellen Winslow was flagged for offensive interference at home against Detroit. The Bucs had to settle for a field goal, which allowed Detroit to tie the game and win in overtime, stealing a victory.
The Bucs, with a 10-6 record, missed the wild card as a result of a tiebreaker with Green Bay, which eventually won that season’s Super Bowl.
The next year, in Week 6, the Bucs beat the slimy Saints at home to post a 4-2 record as they traveled to London for their next game. No one had any clue that when the Bucs boarded the flight to London, they would never see another win the rest of the season.
Joe heard rumors of something shady but Joe has never been able to pin down the details. It was a few players and a few cheerleaders did something (feel free to guess, may or may not have been together). Joe knows a couple of cheerleaders were fired and a cheerleading director was later pushed out.
(Ironically, some 15 years later, the Bucs cheerleaders have never been the same since.)
Joe does know Aqib Talib got into a loud hassle with Raheem Morris in the lobby of the posh London team hotel; allegedly, Morris confronted Talib about curfew.
Again, that’s the last time Joe has seen the Bucs collapse from a good team to trash nearly overnight.
Last year, the Bucs collapsed and carried over their terrible play into this season. After dropping to 0-3 yesterday with one of the worst offenses in the league and playing undisciplined football, Joe wonders what the hell happened during the bye last year.
The Bucs are now 2-10 since that bye.
So what happened? Well, six-year NFL veteran offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz of FOX Sports Radio and SiriusXM NFL Radio thinks the Bucs should have made two things happen last year. And those two things, Schwartz believes, have dragged the Bucs down so badly that they now hold the edge for the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2027.
Schwartz twittered yesterday that the Bucs should have dismissed KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles and forced quarterback Baker Mayfield into a prove-it contract season.
Right now the only thing Mayfield is proving is his contract has been a colossal and potentially grave mistake.
Now Schwartz is not a hater. He noted earlier in his Twitter timeline that he really thought the Bucs would be good this year. He also confessed he never dreamed the Bucs would be so bad.
Well, Bowles is here. And the Joe typing this here post firmly believes Team Glazer, as they have always done, will stand firm and wait until the end of the season to remove Bowles.
Barring a miracle, Joe doesn’t expect Bowles to survive past January.
And just because Bowles is still on the sidelines for the Bucs, don’t con yourself into thinking Team Glazer is not working behind the scenes laying the groundwork for a change of coaches in January.
As for Mayfield’s contract, Joe has no idea how to get out of that outside of dousing the pact with ketchup and salt and eating it. The way Mayfield is playing, the only thing the Bucs are going to win is the right to pick No. 1 overall in the draft, for which they are currently in the driver’s seat.

They quit last season fully expecting Bowles to have been fired. But the Bucs kept him so the quit has continued. Simple as that.
I desperately do not want the #1 pick next year because I don’t want that stiff Manning as QB. You think Mayfield is a disaster? Wait til Manning gets to the NFL. He ain’t as good as his uncles. Not even close.

Baker is a total fraud and needs to be cut or traded. Eat the contract like Todd eats KitKats.

The fact that this ownership group (Glazer kids/hive mind) has produced two teams (2011 and this year’s team) that collapsed completely should give them serious pause as they consider their next steps. Would add that the last years of Lovie, Schiano, and Koetter also had “total implosion” characteristics.
This year’s team is unsound at every level. It is badly designed, badly led, unable to gameplay effectively, unfocused and unmotivated. Who is blame? Owners, GM, coaches, or players? The answer is all of the above.
Some serious soul searching needed by this ownership group. They are proven incompetents with a damning track record of multiple failures.

It’s the nightmare scenario we worried about too… Mayfield’s awful play from last year wasn’t a fluke, continued into this year. But he got the contract. And now the next coach has to want a guy who stinks now.

I would also add, the Glazer hive mind has done an amazing job alienating the fan base. Nothing says contempt for the paying customer like retaining a highly unpopular coach whose team visibly quit on him. I understand that NFL teams are the playthings of the wealthy, but they are also business people. The willful destruction of enterprise value by the Glazer kiddos border on malfeasance.

Before Rod Munch gets in here spewing his hatred for Baker, lets all look at his thoughts on Jameis Winston not being the problem after that god awful 2019 season. Seems I now know WHY he hates Baker so much, and it isnt the turnovers. Must be something else.

Cry me a river fellas… I started watching, well listening since all the home games would be blacked out, to the Bucs in 86, but even before then was kinda/sorta a fan as a kid. But as a kid, going from 86-97, that was an eternity, in particular since you never had anything better than 7 wins that entire time and there was zero hope – until the end of 96.
One thing I will say however is when you do stick with a team this long, and you see it build, and then suddenly get good – man does it feel good. Take the Lightning for example, they’ve been good for a long time – you expect them to be good – to make the playoffs. But with the Bucs, to finally get there, that feeling was electric, in particular since the team was built in house.
Next year, assuming the Bucs don’t do anything stupid like get rid of Winston, I’m saying they go 11-5. I’ve never picked them better than 9-7 since 2003, so I’m not your boring homer fan that thinks they’re going to the playoffs. Two years ago I think I said 6-10, last year I said 7-9. I’m super excited about what is coming. This team was a kicker away from being 9-7, and a complete BS call away from being 10-6 – and that was with a horrific defense for basically half of the season.
Give me that late season defense with this offense, with our two all-pro WR’s back, and the late season Ronald Jones at RB – and we’re in fantastic shape. If you’re not excited by that, it’s just because you’re a triggered dope who can’t see past their hatred of Winston and have yet to accept the results of the 2015 draft.

Dumbest move was thinking Baker was any good because of the chip on his shoulder. That’s all Licht talked about, his moxie, his chip. What he should’ve looked at is his turnover history, his happy feet, his accuracy throwing the deep ball. Our ROH GM needs to go.

What’s so damn frustrating is, this team have many good players on both sides of the ball and yet they are 0-3. They changed coaches, drafted well and brought in new players still, the same ole frustrating Bucs under Bowles maybe even worst now. To add salt to the wound we Bucs fans will have to deal with this for 14 more game

I don’t think the roster is worse than when Coen turned the 4-13 Jags into a 13-4 football team in just 1 season. With the right coaching we could see a similar turnaround…

I’m not willing to blame any individual players until I see how they play under a different Head Coach. The defense played inspired ball which is what I was looking for. Too bad the special teams and the offense didn’t get the memo. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure Coen & Canales probably saved Bowles job at least for a couple years.

I said TB should have been fired after the commando’s loss.

A lot can happen, NFL is a week to week league with the exception of a few elite teams. The only thing consistent is how bad the Dolphins are and the Bills will make the playoffs, but not win a Super Bowl. You have three starting QBs down in Mayfield, Williams, and Daniels. We say Mahommes go down yesterday. Who predicted the GB collapse? Who knows what you are going to get from a 40-year-old Rogers? And lastly, the league thought DeSean Watson was washed, but clearly, he has the mobility and can get back into a rhythm; we may see the QB that led Houston

This isn’t a good Bucs team.
It is a bad team.
Mayfield, Irving, Wirfs, Vea, Tykee, Zion are the only players we have, that are better than the guy they play against.
And Wirfs and Vea are mailing it in, 90% of the plays.
We have a horrible center. Horrible guards. A Left tackle who is coasting.
Our WRs are all bad. Godwin looked great next to EVans. So would I.
Age and Injury have taken it from Godwin. Plus he’s quitting on plays. Watch the video.
TEs are below average- although Sharpe will become a good TE.
So who on offense do you keep claiming are good?
Mayfield and Irving. But with no line- they can’t do anything.
No Pass rush with our Starters. None.
LBers are pathetic- Except Walker and Trotter potentially. But they are both effectively rookies. They will need a couple years.

godwin still not able to get open. mcmillan getting hurt on first play was bad news for baker. emeka looked like a confused player out there. the oline got the bucs 2 best skill players on offense hurt baker and bucky. coordinator telegraphing which plays hes running
