Todd Bowles: Bucs Need To Hit Another Team

Caution, Bucs fans: KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles indirectly warned you not to jump the gun.
David Walker is blowing up. Chris Braswell has been seen numerous times in the offense’s backfield. Dean Patterson might be a keeper at receiver.
It could be all a bit of a mirage, Bowles said.
Bowles noted players are so used to hitting/attacking the same guys, they’ve already figured out tendencies and, because of that, have an edge. So when these same stars of July and early August face new opponents in different color jerseys, those edges disappear.
“I think it’ll be good to see another scheme from a defensive and offensive standpoint, special teams as well,” Bowles said of facing the Jets in two day sof scrimmages in New Jersey next week. “We need to work against other people.
“As you practice every day, you start to memorize some things, and guys start to cheat plays and not play their technique. It’ll be good to go against somebody else.”
So, if Braswell is actually noticed on the field of play, if Walker is actually breathing on Geno Smith, if Patterson is still making unreal catches against Sauce Gardner, then it seems Bucs fans might be safe to begin buying the early training camp hype.

The Bucs got TWO Georgia Tect. rookie WRs in camp. They signed the speedy Eric Rivers jr who was the best GT Wr as a UDFA for $$. Dean Patterson is a local guy, camp invite who was barely hanging on the GT team. Dean’s 40 numbers are all over the place GT pro day said he ran 4.4 others say he runs at 4.65. That happens when guys are football fast but never trained to run the forty.
I was just confused when I first started hearing about GT guy Patterson. I knew about GT WR Rivers but didn’t realize they had 2 GT WRs.

Vea is listening to the wrong folks at the wrong time.
I think this defense, with this offense, is going to be more than good enough with Vea sitting out.
And, after he has been forced to try to carry the defense the last couple of years, I think that is a real shame.
Last year, Vea put together possibly his best season by some measures, but most of the talk is about the team’s collapse with seldom a mention of what a warrior Vea was ever in a thankless season.
Now, it looks to like “les bon temps rouler”. And Vea will get no credit and no glory if he is not on the field to claim it.
With the supporting cast the Bucs have assembled, sitting may cost Vea a career season that could pave the way for national recognition and the big payday that Vea is seeking.
The additions of Robinson, Bain, Capehart, Mohammad, Anzalone, Scott and Trotter; Kancy and Walker healthy; the second year for Roberts; and the return of the Nacho – Vea , as the big dawg and big name would reap a lot of credit with splash plays and inflated numbers while not working nearly as hard as he had to last year with no Kancey and an injured Reddick.
I hope that Vea has a friend out there somewhere who can change his mind. As a fan, I think that this is the defense Vea deserves to play with after what he has played with the last few years.

Same words are said every training camp. Hard to get excited about a lame duck HC and the same players that gave up on that lame duck HC mid way through last season. Bowles should be on the couch in his basement right now. Losing happens, but when the team gives up on you that is a different type of losing that cannot be tolerated, yet here we are.

Sounds like everry Buc camp, but because of past Bucs teams we have to see and hear for ourselves if this years team is the real deal or it will have to take another year of play to be a strong contender. We will have an indication in the preseason games or we”ll have to anscesly wait until the bye week and hope it’s not a repeat of last year’s calapse. It’s looks promising, so let’s keep our heads high

I’m not buying either. Not this year.
And I don’t rely on a word Todd Licht says. Bowles sounds like Trump. You get a different statement on the same issue within the same conversation and you can’t tell if he’s stupid or clever.

Tendencies go both ways. Should be a wash with neither the offensive or defensive guy having an advantage because they know the other one’s tendencies. Weaknesses, however, are another thing entirely.

And that helped us HOW???? He was one of the players who wore a C on their uniform last year on a defense that everyone says quit.
I think the only player on D, who was here last year, that should wear a C is Twee.

Keep expectations in check, it will take more than a couple games for this revamped defense to find their groove….game speed and anticipation of what the guy next to you needs to do and what he is capable of under pressure…..should be fun to what this new blood brings when it actually means something
