Few Details On Bucs’ Injuries

Cornerback Zyon McCollum watches today’s practice in New Jersey in sweats.
A few nicked-up Bucs got Joe’s attention today. But there’s little information on what is going on.
The first that grabbed Joe’s attention is starting corner Zyon McCollum. The Bucs are woefully thin at corner. McCollum watched the full-pads practice against the Jets in sweats (photo above).
Bowles was not forthcoming about McCollum.
“No update, he’s just healing,” Bowles said. “He’s doing a lot better.”
On Tristan Wirfs running on a side field, Bowles said there was “nothing new” on him (even though there was something new: Wirfs was running on a side field — see Joe’s video here).
Backup quarterback Jake Browning apparently may have tweaked his back, though that’s speculation. Bowles, without detailing Browning’s injury, said Browning was scheduled to start Friday night against the Jets in the preseason opener. Bowles did not say whether he will or not.
Mayfield, Bowles said, will not play.
As for who will start Friday, Bowles said, “We’ll work something out.”

It’s hilarious that Flesh Licht thought we’d be good with Zion and Morrison as our top corners. They can’t even make it to the first joint practice before getting injured.

HeartyDickerson, Although I agree with you the Bucs really needed to address the pass rush this offseason. Which I believe they did! Pretty sure they knew Evans was leaving so that’s why they invested in Hurst. Very tough on any GM to rebuild every position from scratch after winning the Super Bowl. Not sure if Bowles is the answer, but I think Licht has done pretty well in the rebuilding process.

buc n jim ,,,,,, Why is it ?? Jason has cap room , can make plenty of cap room , he just thinks like you !! Well we’ve done enough because , it seems we’ve done enough !! ridiculous but common place ……. there were corners a plenty and is still a good option or two . Pretty good o lineman that has been misused just came avail . …… put him on the right side , where he belongs and give him 8 weeks and you may have a decent RT back up …. not sure we do ….. and oh by the way he has played LT in the League , although he shouldn’t be on that side . This Isn’t as hard as some GM s make it !!

Put Morrison out with Vea while his 2 nd status and college tape hold some weight ………. Target teams with well performing rookie or second yr, first or second round corners that are looking good and have a Vet that can swap 20 mil or less cap …….. Vita can’t resign here or isn’t worth a three yr 95 mil contract . Jason get your 🤡 y arss to work !!
