Bank On The Bucs

August 27th, 2026

Gambler likes Bucs’ odds.

It’s one thing to have conviction. It’s quite another to lay cash on the table behind your belief.

And that’s where Eric Moody of BSPN stands. He’s willing to lay cash (allegedly) that the Bucs return to the playoffs this season.

In fact, Moody believes in the Bucs so much, all he thinks the Bucs need to do is stay healthy and they’ve got a playoff spot wrapped up.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers to MAKE playoffs (+130)

Tampa Bay started 6-2 last season before injuries took their toll, leading to an 8-9 finish and ending a run of four straight NFC South titles. The Buccaneers expect to have all five starting offensive linemen back healthy, and Emeka Egbuka, Chris Godwin Jr. and Bucky Irving give Baker Mayfield — who was playing at an MVP-caliber level early last season — plenty of playmakers. First-round pick Rueben Bain Jr. should help the pass rush at outside linebacker. Staying healthier could be enough to get Tampa Bay back into the postseason.

This is a glaring example of the NFC South landfill. The team with the best (starting) offensive line, the best quarterback and the best room of wide receivers only needs to stay healthy and they are playoff-bound.

That’s how bad this division is. Not that Baker Mayfield can throw for 5,000 yards or Emeka Egbuka could lead the league in catches or Chris Godwin leads the league in touchdown catches or Bucky Irving could lead the league in touchdowns, No.

That’s not needed. Just stay healthy.

I’m just hoping bain Jr is effective dropping in to pass coverage

  2. bucnjim Says:

Stay healthy and you can win the division? 60% of all the teams in the NFL fall under this category. It isn’t just the NFC South!

  3. purplebeard Says:

I just hope bain is effective in passing coverage

  4. purplebeard Says:

Tried to post twice. Deleted both times. Thank you Joe.

  5. purplebeard Says:

Rah, rah! Joe is the best!

  6. JustVisiting Says:

bucnjim: especially if they also happen to have “the best (starting) offensive line, the best quarterback and the best room of wide receivers”!

  7. Todd Says:

The Bucs’ playoff strategy this year is refreshingly simple: stay healthy and continue being located in the NFC South.

  8. Todd Says:

The Bucs’ biggest opponent this season isn’t Atlanta, New Orleans or the Panthers. It’s WebMD.

  9. Todd Says:

The Bucs don’t need the stars to align. They just need the ACLs to remain aligned.

  10. KABucs Says:

With this team, easier said than done.

I have already predicted that Godwin and/or Mayfield will be on IR before the bye – probably should add a CB or two

  12. ghost Says:

BS, bucs got most of their injured players back towards the end of the season and STILL kept losing

  13. Todd Says:

Saints will be much better than people think-Shough is Good.

  14. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

Bowels has been banking from the Bucs

  15. Greg Says:

So wait…Are you saying that any other team in any other division, that had the Best O-Line, best QB, and best WR room in their division would NOT be in consideration for their division championship?

  16. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

Vegas has the Bucs at 8 or 9 wins

  17. Letsbuccingo Says:

Maybe we should start resting players now since we have clinched a playoff spot.

  18. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

    Other than the local media
No one is even mentioning the Bucs as serious contenders.
Baker’s contract and Rubin Bain are the only things that the NFL media world mentions.

  19. CosmoKramer Says:

Don’t mind that urine running down your leg, it’s actually just rain. Trust us.

That’s all I hear when people try to spin the putrid results we get annually into a SB bound team.

Laughable at best. Insulting at worst. We deserve better. But we act like battered wives.

They really love us!!! That’s why they keep hurting us!!! 🤡🤡🤡🤡

  20. Stpetematt Says:

Not BS. Once Bredeson and Mauch were on IR this team fell apart. If you can’t stop an interior pass rush your QB and team in general are in big trouble.

  21. Obvious Says:

I do expect the division to be better, especially the Saints. But if we can’t win the dumpster fire division it proves the vast majority of us correct. And even if we win it at 8 or 9 wins it’s the same thing.

  22. Obvious Says:

If we are SO much better than all three, as so many have said, then Todd should have no problem going 6-0.

Let’s see how that plays out.

  23. Defense Rules Says:

Purplebeard … ‘Tried to post twice. Deleted both times. Thank you Joe.’

Your comment did post twice. I’m surprised Joe didn’t quip ‘Be patient Grasshopper’.

  24. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

From the Mike Evans files…..he MAY play Week 1. I think the Bucs MAY have just dodged a bullet by Evans signing with the 49ers.

  25. Defense Rules Says:

SB~LV … ‘Vegas has the Bucs at 8 or 9 wins’.

I’d much rather be an underdog at 8-9 wins than to have everyone thumping their chests that we’re gonna win 14 or 15 games. The Bucs have a fairly solid team IMO. With a little luck, they could go 10 maybe even 11-12 wins. And especially if these rookies pan out.

  26. Bucs4kicks38 Says:

I just hope we are in position to pick up a qb in the draft. Cj Carr is my choice. I like Mayfield but he isn’t ever gonna get us more than 10 wind. 11 tops. Next coach will want their own pick of qb. Carr has the it factor. And the it between the ears.

  28. MelvinJunior Says:

Well, YEAH. There is no way possible for them not to win the division, and make the playoffs. The only way I see it happening, is IF Penix stays healthy for an entire season, and the Falcons just outscore everyone. And, that is just such a HUGE stretch on sooo many levels, not even accounting for the unlikeliness of that ever happening. I mean, they’re without Jalon Walker fr the ENTIRE season, and James Pearce Jr. for at least half. The Panthers are devastated by injuries already, and I am just NOT a buyer on the Saints, at ALL. So, I can’t see how or where it’s even possible, for them to NOT win this pathetic of a so-called Division.

  29. MelvinJunior Says:

Our DEFENSE will be good enough to at least keep them in ballgames. All Baker has to do is be mediocre. Just average.

  30. Buddha Says:

Gamblers are all in on Buccaneers over 8.5. Brian Anderson of The Action Network rated Buccaneers offensive line #1, Defense #11, and offense #14. Says people are sleeping on the Buccaneers. This site is the place of pessimism

  31. Mark Says:

A healthy Bucs team has the talent to win 11 to 12 games. With the holdover of Bowles, though, their likely best case is “treading water” and winning 9 to 10. There are potentially worse outcomes out there: injuries take their toll, Baker continues his slide, the paper-thin CB room collapses, the team quits (again).

Another “arrow pointing sideways” season might still win the division, but why is this considered good enough? Four years of the same thing…

  32. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

So did Bain hurt his shoulder dropping in to coverage on Tuesday?

  33. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Good ones, Todd, lol.

  34. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I’m hoping, just like every year, for a trip to the Superbowl.

If we do that I figure it is almost certain Bowles chooses to retire.

  35. BuccoMarty Says:

    Floor = 8-9

    Ceiling 9-8.

Incredibly Average Todd Bowles is incapable of anything else.

  36. Confido75 Says:

I am not betting on anything after the news and quotes that came out of the joint practices with the Jags. I even said one bad practice is not tbe end of the world. However, it appears players on this team are not putting forth the consistent level of effort needed, again. That tells me Bowles is at it again not pushing these guys. His whole MO has been to depend on the players to do what is required and when they don’t he whines about it. Guess what, its your job to keep them in line! Did you learn anythng from BA???

This stuff is getting old. Just a note — OLBs do have pass coverage responsibilities in the game of football, depending on the situation. It’s not just Bowles.

BS, bucs got most of their injured players back towards the end of the season and STILL kept losing

Both guards lost for the season, Bucky was hurt the entire year. Evans was out until the last few games. Baker was hurt the entire 2nd half of the season.

Something else was going on besides injuries in the second half of the year, but it’s incorrect to suggest they were ever mostly healthy.

    In one practice…

Reports from the rest of camp seemed to indicated a high level of effort and intensity, so let’s not create a new narrative about the ’26 Bucs based on one joint practice.

Two glaring weaknesses last year: That “defense” and OL depth, especially at guard. OK, the rebuild on D has started, but I don’t see any new O linemen, the drafted guard has been injured all camp.

I put a little on us winning nfc south, and a little on nfc champs….never know.

    @skunkape

First off… your name Says it all… Because You MUST BE HIGH if you think the indicators just mean nothing. Heard your types ALL last year and the year before. Would you like to know what happened to 90% of the same “Non DEMANDING OF EXCELLENCE”, Polyanna Excuse makers from last year after we went through this WHOLE Dog and Pony at the Circus show last year after Bowles DISGUSTED the players into quiting on everybody INCLUDING YOU?

Well I’ll tell you what happened to those DESPERATELY defending Bozo as we as an ENTIRE FANDOM CRASHED AND BURNED.. They are Now Platinum Card members of the HOTTEST publication ANYWHERE IN FLORIDA! It’s no longer something like say Guns and Ammo, it’s an exclusive to Tampa Fla. and it’s called “The Pitchfork and Touch”. And THE Numero One subject IS Todd “the BOZO” bowles! And that publication is WHITE HOT locally BECAUSE OF the Massive Damage that the Clown has done to this football team that WE ALL LOVE!

Look bud, keep smoking PLENTY of Hopeium on behalf on you messiah because if you haven’t gotten it figured out by now, then Apparently You’ve been Smoking PLENTY OF something else! If you haven’t pulled your head out of the sand and let THE TRUTH “speak for itself” by now, then bud, you should slow up and CHECK YO SHEET! I’m SURE You’ve “conveniently” forgotten (due to a perpetual smokey cloud, SCREWING UP YOUR VIEW) but there IS a BIG TIME REASON why the Majority of the Buccaneers Fandom have seen ALL WE WANT TO SEE OF bowles! And there will be NO MORE harmony until he is LONG GONE!

And If “You’re” NOT DEMANDING BETTER than the Garbage Results we’ve been forced to REGURGITATE for ANOTHER YEAR OF THE TEAM QUITING AND OR PLAYING TISSUE SOFT (you know, the report we just got Yesterday) on and DUE TO Bozo…. Well then YOU ARE DEFINITELY as High as a Kite if you Really Believe ANYBODY is going to listen to Your PLEA’S OF UNCLE!

  45. Scott McKirahan Says:

He’s absolutely right but it has nothing to do with the NFC South. Show me the teams with the healthiest starting rosters at the end of the season and I’ll show you the teams most likely to go far in the postseason.

  46. Simple T Says:

    Obvious One
What are you high on that makes you think all this hollering about DEMANDING sh+t means anything outside of your addled brain ? Nobody hears your screeching outside of JBF

    Skunkape
We had a skunkape in Gainesville – same reference ?

  49. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Being a Bowles fanboi is one of the most idiotic thing I have ever seen. It’s even worse than the Baker Moisty Boyyz, at least Mayfield does have some skill. Bowles has shown nothing much and having a team that quits and lacks effort is his schtick. We have no choice but to be under performing underdogs as long as he’s our coach. There’s no amount of hopium that’s going to change that

  50. Mike Johnson Says:

Look Joe, My Bucs have disappointed me so much withn the last couple of years.I’ll just wait to see what we have. Everybody is trash talking for now. Heard a player from the Vikings say he would be surprised if they lost 4 games this season. No hype once the whistle blows. Just hope we are much better than last yrs dismal perforrmance. Esp on Defense.

And THAT IS a very good thing for YOU since your little red nose is falling off. It’s a start little one. And You can BET, I’ll keep getting the Good Word out to ya.
And in the meantime you can just keep telling everybody how Great Bozo the Clown really is… putts.
