How can this be anyone but Licht’s fault? He’s being underpaid.

Part of me wonders if Licht isn’t trying to sabotage Bowles.

  2. Guy In the Stands Says:

It is on Vita, he is a grown man and can make his own decisions.
The NFL is a business and he is close with Suh who looks at football as a business. Take your heart out of it.

The man is over 30 and over 300 lbs, how many more quality years does he have left before that body starts to breakdown? The guy is a freak of nature, but nobody can sustain NFL level ability forever.

He wants one more fat paycheck and good for him; if he wanted to be a Buc for life I am sure he could still make millions to stay. But he wants millions more; everyone should stay out of other peoples wallets and let the guy do what he wants.

  3. 813bucboi Says:

    MOD

same thing crossed my mind…how can you not blame Licht…

and how can bowles field a competent defense if licht lets players of Vita’s caliber walk out the door…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  4. BuccoMarty Says:

As I posted elsewhere… Bowles isn’t the guy in charge of the contracts, but he definitely has an impact on whether a player wants to work for him or not. In this case, like the former #13 (dead to me), I’m betting it’s “not.”

  5. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

End of the day Team Glazer
    For….

  6. RagingBrisket Says:

This team is poorly managed. The Licht in the front office is very dim.

  7. 813bucboi Says:

how many more quality years does he have left before that body starts to breakdown?

Can say the same thing regarding baker lol….he’s over 30 and his body is breaking down…how many quality years does he have left the way he plays..

look how fast russell wilson’s play declined…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  8. Lol Says:

Vita is better than the 19th best DT imo. Makes sense he wants to be paid accordingly tbh

  9. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

If only the Outback Boys had the winning bid when Steven Story opened up the envelopes!

  10. Hodad Says:

Joe, you forgot to make a box for money. That’s what’s really to blame here. Isn’t it always about the money?

  11. BucEmUp Says:

Whoever decided to keep Bowles is as fault for this entire collapse

  12. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Jason and the Glazers, they were trying to run Mike down to keep him. 1Buc is probably like any other coporate workplace and iykyk word gets around in the building quicker than it does outside.

I could see that triggering Vea to ask for more money or at least one of several factors.

  13. Usfbucs Says:

Vita signed a contract and now wants out, that’s fine but that’s completely on him. He agreed to the contract if he wanted more money then he should have negotiated for a better deal years ago.

  14. Bucswin Says:

Could just blame Licht or Bowles. Which they are responsible of course. But it starts at the top, the people that ultimately make the decisions and hiring them. And the culture of losing and mediocrity that is taking it’s toll. I.e. 3-28. Go Bucs

  15. El Hefe Bucc Says:

Vea got like 2 or 3 good years left I feel this is a JL thing I understand the old carrot in the stick thing make players play at a good level before paying them but that doesn’t work for every player

  16. SteveK Says:

Glazers, Licht, Bowles are to blame in that order. It’s a shame Vita isn’t locked up for another 2-3 years, being a high performing, lifelong buccaneer. I blame owners, then GM and then HC. Owners call the shots, they stink the most in this.

  17. Grateful Buc Says:

@ModHairKaren – It isn’t. This poll is clickbait and it worked. But the CHUDS going straight after Bowles are just that, engaging in Chuddery. Bowles coached this man to 2 pro Bowls and had a hand in him getting a SB. Licht too but I suspect Vita isn’t calling Todd for contract negotiations. Nor should he. This is on the front office for 95% of this. Coaching accounts for MAYBE 5% but with pro bowl berths and a SB ring, I doubt even that percentage. Probably more like 98% Licht – 2% coaching.

  18. Joe Says:

How can this be anyone but Licht’s fault?

Glazers don’t have a say in how they’re money is spent?

  19. Baking with Robinson Says:

    Is Todd’s fault.
I won’t be surprised if he is traded to the 49ers.

  20. Baking with Robinson Says:

Vita says since Todd is still here you must pay for pain and suffering. lol

Oh no I know what the problem is. Vita is refusing to drop back in coverage. 😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣

That’s not how time works. When you’re negotiating anything, you don’t know what the market is going to do. Several teams signed players that were arguably similar players to Vea to much lager contracts since Vea signed the last time around. Vea couldn’t know that was coming back then.

Haven’t you ever asked for a pay raise because what you got hired on for years ago is by proportion less than what other folks are making now? I know I have, but I guess “that’s different” when it’s our own pocket that we’re thinking about.

    ModHairKen Says:
“How can this be anyone but Licht’s fault? He’s being underpaid.”
    .
    .

It was anything but being underpaid when he signed the contract.

If everyone is going to demand to keep up with the Joneses every year, then don’t sign a 4 year contract.

  23. MadMax Says:

Pay the guy Jason….come on now, you know he’s underpaid at his current rate. Im not saying break the bank, heck no, but come to a decent compromise.

  24. Oxycondomns Says:

licht is the glazers puppet. its 100 percent glazers

  25. Oxycondomns Says:

bucs won their super bowl need another 10-15 years for a rebuild from the ground up before spending again. it wont work till licht starts drafting good again

  26. Fire The Cannons & Fire Todd Says:

    Where was Vea on 3rd & 28…

  27. buc4evr Says:

I find it hard to feel sorry for a guy making $17M a year. He needs to play-out his contract, then move on as a free agent. If he sits out this season, Bucs need to go to a full time 4 man front.

  28. KABucs Says:

I put other because his agent wasn’t one of the options.
Yes, owners and players can get pretty greedy but the agents really take the cake.

  29. DRob Says:

People constantly taking the side of millionaires when they are trying to stand up to billionaires

  30. DRob Says:

I find it hard to feel sorry for someone making 17m a year?

But not hard to feel sorry for the billionaire making hundreds of millions a year because he has special protections and is allowed to violate antitrust to keep players from working elsewhere?

I can leave my job. Get another job. Vea doesnt have that right. This is his only method to advocate for himself. He has outplayed his contract.

Look at what Jalen carter just got. If we cut vea- he would make more than his current contract on the free market.

Let the man fight for the future of his family. He only has a small window to get that bag.he should fight for it every chance he gets.

  31. MonsVenusVIP Says:

Should’ve had an all of the above selection for choices A-E.

  32. Rod Munch Says:

Why isn’t Baker on the list?

He’s like the anti-Brady, no one wants to play on the same team he’s on. Even Otton had to be resigned at full market value to get him to come back – there’s no discounts to be found.

  33. Grover Says:

He knows……As Grover has been saying….5-12 if they get lucky.

  34. Rod Munch Says:

I was thinking the best the Bucs could do with Vita is probably a 2nd from Buffalo, or at least a late 2nd from a win-now team.

Somehow I completely forgot that the Cowboys exist.

Come on Jerry, I know you traded for Quinnen Williams and don’t have a 1st next year, but I think we’d be OK taking a 2028 1st rounder.

  35. BucsFan252 Says:

It’s the non guaranteed money that’s the issue. If he gets hurt he gets nothing. What would you do Joe?? Told y’all to pay the man his money KGB voice 😂

    __________

    Totally agree.
    That mindset baffles me.
If we’re gonna be ok with that then players need to be docked for below expected performance ……… or better yet, loafing.

  37. BucfaninMi Says:

Suh will have job with the Raiders.

  38. GMC hater Says:

Bowles for being an awful head coach, no one wants to play for him

  39. Todd Says:

Jalen Carter just signed the richest deal in history for a NFL Tackle.

Vita Vea has better sack numbers than Carter over the last 3 seasons.

Vita Vea has better total tackles numbers than Carter over the last 3 seasons.

Are you MAYBE starting to FREAKING get it you Mensahs?

  40. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    It’s probably a negotiating tactic.

    lol, not true.

  42. Upstate NY BUC Says:

Sign him to 2 more years and let’s move on, Go Bucs

  43. Oxycondomns Says:

its why bucs were never in the running for crosby or hendrickson. i would be really surprised if glazers shell out for baker unless the analytics shows they can make their money back on him if it shows he sells tickets or merchandise

  44. 80sBucsfan Says:

I bet a Jason Licht poll would be really bad right now…Joe’s. I know…end of season but he’s not doing himself any favors. Too much drama.

  45. MonsVenusVIP Says:

@Todd, the problem is VV hasn’t been charged with any vehicular crimes. The Bucs haven’t been a serious franchise since ‘21 season either.

  46. Rod Munch Says:

Why do people keep mentioning the Raiders? They’re not giving up a valuable pick to play on a garbage team with no chance of winning. Makes zero sense.

    ___________

When you compiled your VV vs JC stats did you happen to look at the number of games started by each player?

    No, I didn’t think so.

  48. Confido75 Says:

The blame is shared across the organization. Personally, I think Vea is hoping to get picked up by a team that is actually looking to win a SB now. The guy is a competitor. He had a tooth knocked out and laughed about it and kept playing. Guys like that want strong leaders to lead them, not inept, soft, excuse making HCs like Bowles. Does he want to get paid more, yes, but does he want to win, absolutely. Does he think this team is capable of going deep in the playoffs, not with the current coaches, because you would wait out one more year if you thought you had a chance to get to the SB again. Remember, the Bucs have a lot of incentive laden contracts that pay out when players hit performance targets and win games.

  49. Todd Says:

    Hey Dooshie

The snaps played is the important number when comparing two players over multiple seasons.

VV played about 80 more snaps over those 3 seasons

Do not try to compare your intellect to mine-it is a loser for you every time.

  50. DoooshLaRue Says:

Correct snap counts are the ultimate metric.
Of which VV had about 125 more than JC.
Feel free to extrapolate that and see how the numbers wash out oh wise one.

  51. FortMyersDave Says:

Most people blame Bowles. I think if it was solely a Bowles issue due to Vea not wanting to have him as HC, Vea would have asked for a trade when Evans left or when it was apparent Bowles would be back. So that puts the blame on Licht and Vea equally.

  52. Todd Says:

Your math is as bad as your spelling-it is actually only 38 more snaps over all three seasons. Carter had 2034 regular season snaps over the last 3 regular seasons.
Vita Vea had 2072 regular season snaps over the last 3 seasons.

Clean up your Moms garage–errrrrrrr I mean your home.

  53. Simeon4HOF Says:

    Vita. Next Suh

  54. StormyInFl Says:

This is all on Vita and his agent. To a lesser extent, Suh.

He signed the contract- it’s the Bucs right not to renegotiate it. If you’re worried about the market resetting, don’t sign long term contracts and bet on yourself.

He traded the security of a longer contract over the chance to maximize his value, and now he wants a do-over.

As for Suh – he implied the Vea was working for free. Jesus. If 17 mil per is “free”, sign me up.

“And who in their right mind would go to a job and have no guarantee of what their salary is going to be? Like to me, I’m not going to go work out for free and play for free. And you wouldn’t just show up to work for free.” – Suh

    ———

I’m being serious… who has came to Tampa to play with Baker, who took an under market deal to be here? Am I missing someone obvious? My mind is drawing a blank.

Meanwhile, Evans fled town, David retire, Vita wants out, White couldn’t get out of town fast enough – and like I pointed out, Otton only came back because he got full market value. No one is breaking down the Bucs door to be here and to play with Baker – not that I can remember.

But seriously, if you got someone I missed, let me know.
